ProudGrandpaParticipantCalhoun is losing his touch and he’s missed multiple games lately, as well.
And Drummond is still trying to find his game

Hi its BenParticipantselfishness and lack of execution. every single time they’re on offense it’s like the Heat in the 4th quarter. iso’s iso’s iso’s.

Malik-UniversalParticipantwhile drummond improved from the start of the season
the main guys like lamb and shabazz havent improved much…
boatwright and shabazz arent guys who are true PGs…. they struggle to find good shots sometimes as a team
last year they overchieved a sh*t ton….. i had a feeling they were gnna struggle….. kemba was the team last yr….

omphalosParticipantLack of a true PG is what’s really hurting them, that and the UConn system isn’t using Drummond to his fullest potential.

TRC1991Participant1) deandre daniels, roscoe smith and tyler olander havent provided anything
2) oriakhi has regressed
3) boatright and napier love to get their own shots, a little too often, early in the shot clock
4) lamb doesn’t seem to have a leadership mentality
5) drummond’s coming along slower than we anticipated
6) jim calhoun missing games certainly hurts

FearTheStacheParticipant1. They have no leader.
2. They have no chemistry.
3. They have a very pro-style line-up, where a true PF is at the PF, and a true C is at the C. In most NCAA lineups, a 4 guard plus PF lineup is used. This makes either Oriakhi or Drummond guard the perimeter, which they shouldn’t have to do.

WizardofOzParticipantPoor spacing. no driving lanes. limited drive and kick options. The bigs arent skilled enough offensively to draw attention. Not enough shooters. Even if they have a driving lane, Napier doesnt have the ability to break down his defender. They’re getting nothing from the 3.
With all the tinkering Calhoun has done with the starting lineup, as well as Boatright being in and out, they have no chemistry.
IMO, they should just play with one big at a time. go 4 around 1 and use Drummond for ball screens.0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/20/2012 - 4:45am #639126

JoeWolf1I think Calhoun is at the root of it, these are a young group of players who need their experienced coach there to help them play as a team. With him being ill, and being around the team less I’m sure that has an impact on attitude in addition to the X’s and O’s part of the game.
These guys didn’t come to UConn to be coached by an assitant, Calhoun is a draw to the program and a big reason behind it’s success. With him not at 100% I’m not surprised they’re struggling, no matter how talented the core group of players.
