valentineI am not sure the jeff green trade helped either team as it seems like green could have had value in the griz series and perkins might have had an easier time against the heat

NarcParticipantYes trades like that happen occasionally. Think Emeka Okafor-Tyson Chandler for the Bobcats and Hornets way back when.

torukParticipantthe perkins trade DID NOT hurt OKC.

Tha_PrinceParticipantYour basing this trade on 1 series?
This trade helped the Thunder immensely, imagine Nenad Kristic trying to guard Randolph or Gasol? It would of been even more one sided of a game.
Don’t get me wrong as a basketball fan I’m loving watching Memphis do their thing, but I see the Thunder taking it in 7. Their too talented to lose. If they do it’s a shame but Zach Randolph has to run out of steam sooner or later.

13kavakI think this trade was designed to help with the playoffs for both teams and the griz will own this series

B-ball fanParticipantThis trade greatly benefitted the Thunder. Perkins is a better player than Green, and the trade has massively improved the Thunder’s defense, just look at the numbers.

B FreeParticipantPerkins is not a better player then Green, they are very different players, Green as a starting SF has averaged 16.5pts and 7rebs but they didnt need another SF they needed some size and some defense downlow and thats what the trade was about, Perkins didn’t sign the offer Boston gave him so instead of getting nothing when he left as a free agent they got Green.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI think Perkins fills a hole that needed to be filled and i don’t see how having Jeff Green would help them against the griz..? It’s not a function of who’s better or not but how they’re used and what the team needed and I’d say both teams would be better with Perkins right now over Green because Green isn’t playing that big of a role with the Celts.

ProudGrandpaParticipantStop hating on Nedad Krstic!

B-ball fanParticipantI really don’t see what makes him such a great player. His only above average skill is scoring, and he isn’t that efficient of a scorer. He certainly can’t defend 3s consistently, but it may be better to hide him on 3s than 4s since he can’t rebound well for a 4. OKC was the 22nd best defensive team in the league before the Perkins trade and the 5th best defensive team afterwards. Some of that has to do with schedule, but most of that is Ibaka replacing Green at the 4 and Perkins replacing Ibaka at the 5. He may be a solid scorer, but I am hoping that the Celtics part ways with him after the year.

doubledribblerParticipantYeah Green is nothing special. I didn’t think he was anything amazing at Georgetown. I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt in OKC since he played out of position, but he proved to be an awful rebounder and he didn’t make bigger guys pay when he was on the offensive end. He’s not even doing much while playing with one of the best passing pgs in Rondo. Also he can’t contain 3s or 4s. Boston got hosed. Sure they got a sub for Pierce and Garnett, but they should have just stayed pat with what they had and kept the best interior defender in the league.
