balltilifall5ParticipantI really like this deal for both teams. In portland, they get essentially a watered down version of what they expected oden to be this year–about same number of rebounds, few less points–out of camby, while moving Outlaw, who hasnt played much this year, and Blake, who was taking minutes from Bayless, who i believe to be a better player than him. This will open up minutes for Bayless, as well as allowing pryz to fall back to his typical range of minutes.
Also, its gives LA another scorer and point, which is a big deal considering BDiddy’s less than stellar play thus far in the season. The one aspect of the trade that i like the most for LA however, is the fact that minutes will be opened up for young center DeAndre Jordan, someone whom i think can really blossom when the minutes are given.
Good trade for both sides, what do you think?

mistapink1Participanti don’t think this benefits the clips at all. except from a money standpoint. since the clips are in reality just a tax shelter/sports related business/pet chihuahua of donald ebenezer sterling then yeah, i guess it makes perfect business sense. you’re right that freeing up deandre jordan is a great move. but it also equals tanking another season in clipperland. camby balanced out kaman by being more mobile and defensively inclined. he’s the perfect foil for a guy like kaman. i think jordan will put up good stats but it remains to be seen if he can complement chris k. in the same way. steve blake will fit well, backing up both guard positions and being a good teammate. outlaw is a decent player but it’s hard to see how he’s gonna supplant either al thornton, eric gordon or rasual butler. both former blazers have expiring contracts which means neither guy will be around next year. so the clips basically traded one of the best rebounding and defensive bigs in the league for a back-up point and an unnecessary swing man. as usual, donald sterling got what he wanted, but clippers fans, once again, got hosed. the clips should’ve at least tried to wrangle a future 1st rounder out of the deal.
it is a great trade for portland (pryz, by the way, has been injured for almost two months. pryz went down hard against the mavs dec. 23rd. pryz will be ready again a little before greg oden will.) camby and lamarcus aldridge will be like peanut butter and jelly in the frontcourt; the big scoring, jump shooting finesse big matched with the defensive minded, rebounding, shotblocking big. it helps portland immensely in this year’s play-off push. but it does remain to be seen how camby fits in the big picture. even when oden and pryz are healthy, camby is better than either guy. but he’s skinny, old and injury prone and probably doesn’t want to come off the bench. kinda a short term mercenary move for portland. it’ll work out this year. but beyond that, it’s kinda a wash.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI love this trade for Portland… Props to KP for finally making a good move, other than in the draft.
I hate this trade for the Clippers though. It makes no sense at all. No sense. I hate it lol.

IndianaBasketballParticipantYea… I hate this trade. With Camby’s expiring contract and the fact he’s still a great defender and rebounder, they could’ve gotten back more. I doubt either Blake or Outlaw will re-sign with the Clippers next season. I don’t understand this trade. They basically just gave him away.
