by losing gordon, how much does it hurt the bulls?

*was the bulls leading scorer of 2008-2009
*was 2nd in assists overall. hinrich had a higher average but played 51 games
*173/422 3 pointers made. next closest was hinrich at 69 3pt made.
*Losing gordon also means losing experience and a go-to leader..other than rose.

hinrich and salmons are now the 3pt threat for the bulls.

Does this also mean that salmons will slide to SG and deng will be back at SF?

What do you think their record will be in 09-10?

That’s exactly what that means! Starting Five – PG – Rose SG- Salmons SF – Deng PF – Thomas C – Noah
Bench – Miller, Hinrich, Johnson, Pargo, Gray, and I know I’m missing some more.
I think you’ll see Salmons shoot a lot of threes and hopefully Rose has been working on his shot as well. Hinrich has always been solid behind the 3. I’m sure Salmons and Deng will help cover up for the loss of Gordon and his scoring. Leaders – Rose, Hinrich, and Deng need to step up. I think they get somewhere between 40-46 Wins

How badly does losing gordon hurt the bulls?Hurts a little, but now Salmons, Deng and Hinrich and everyone else can get an extended role, so the Bulls have other players that can put up some points

Does this also mean that salmons will slide to SG and deng will be back at SF?Probably, but they can also consider moving Hinrich to the 2 and benching Salmons so they can have that impact scorer off the bench, and Deng starts at the 3

What do you think their record will be in 09-10? 45-37

I think it hurts for the short term but helps in the long term. Now that BG is gone, Rose has to learn to be a creater, not just a pass-and-watcher. That what he did with BG. Pass and watch him score. I think everyone is underrating Pargo. Dont yall remember what he did for the Hornets?? Also, Deng and Johnson will help with the scoring. Now, Thomas can get his shots in and Noah might get a little more. I dont think they can replace BG, but they can just absorb what he did into everyone else. The Bulls will be fine. I dont see them in the second round of the playoffs but they will make the first.

They are taking a step back in order to move forward for the future. They lose a lot of scoring with Gordon, but this is going to allow other guys to step up and for once, they won’t have to worry about defensive/offensive substitutions so much. When they had Gordon, he was a huge liability on the defensive end. Salmons plays best when he starts. Deng won’t have to worry about competing for time with Salmons and Hinrich is probably going to do his best work off the bench as a combo guard and 6th man. I loved the Pargo move. Anyone that saw him in his last year in Chicago and in NO before he left knows that he was a big spark off the bench. The one thing that really baffled me was picking Taj Gibson when there were a lot of guys with upside as well as a lot of guys that could contribute immediately that were still on the board.

tremendous loss, anyone who saw the bull/celtics series ( which i am sure 99 percent saw it) gordon was a go to guy in many situations.

i think it helps them a lot i think Noah, Heinrich, and Salmons could all score more and they will move the ball around a lot and be more of a team.

I don’t think his loss will be felt as much as people think. Salmons is a very good sg who is also a way better defender. Rose will step up big time. Hinrich can play either gaurd spot as a solid backup who can hit shots, penetrate and also defend. Deng will be returning from injury. And Johnson and Pargo will be quality back ups. People forget that 2 years ago, Pargo was probably the top 6th man in New Orleans. I think Chicago will be fine. Letting Gordon leave also leaves open the possibility of the bulls signing Wade this next off-season.

the bulls will have about the same record as last year, if not better. I think one factor it’ll come down to is whether Derrick Rose improves his game from last year, which I believe he will. in the long run, the bulls are going to need to look for another big to add onto their team, either to start for the bulls, or come off the bench if Tyrus Thomas reaches his full potential.

Actually it will not hurt them that much because they are losing Gordon but gaining Deng. Deng Rose and Salmons should shoulder the load. Also yall forgot to include Brad Miller. He may start over Noah this year. Also with James Johnson also on the bench along with Pargo that got some enery and spark.

bulls record will be something like 44-38

    their lineup will be

    rose
    salmons
    deng
    thomas
    noah

as stated above the comeback of loul deng should lessen the weight of gordon being gone…

I am much of a fan of Ben Gordon as any Bulls fan would like. He brings scoring and clutch plays. He never is afraid to take big shots on big games. He can light up the scoreboard in a single game, can score 20, 30 or even 40 points but the thing is, he is way undersized and is not a commited player defensively. He lacks the determination to play defense, once he gets banged up by a pick and roll he doesn’t try hard enough to get back on defense. He is also inconsistent at times that’s why when people say Gordon is both a blessing and a curse, they are 100% correct. A Blessing when he gets his game going and hit those 3 point shots unconsciously. and end up scoring 35 or 38 points. A curse when he ends up missing 15 straight shot and still goes for it even if he knows he is struggling. Classic example of that would be against the Celtics in Game 7 og the 2009 First Round Series. He finished with 23 points but he did so on 8/23 shooting. Instead of setting up plays, he is really tempted to hit the 3.

Losing him doesn’t hurt that much because the Bulls ended up acquiring John Salmons. I admire Salmons’ game because he doesn’t complain a lot if he is given 5 minutes or 31 minutes in one game. I watched him when he was with the Kings and he would step up when Kevin Martin is down or injured. He seems to know his role that he is not a superstar but he is definitely someone that can be relied on when nobody seems to take control. I remember him torching the Knicks for 32 points 11 rebounds 12 assists and 7 steals making him a fantasy beast that night. That is John Salmons for you. I am pretty much upbeat this coming season because guys like Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng and ESPECIALLY Derrick Rose will step their game up with the loss of Ben Gordon. In fact, we don’t really need him. We could go up and find a better player in 2010… Ahem… Dw.. Dwy.. Dwyaaaane… W..W..www.Wade..??? Who knows?

what i see, is that the bulls will be about the same, or better. i do see their 3pt shots made as a team go down, as well with the 3pt %. their points as a team may go down, but at the same time, i think they’ll increase defensively. with salmons and deng playing together, teams will score less points and have a lower fg% against the bulls

I watched salmons play in sacramento. The guy plays nice defense and can hit a 3 under pressure…like someone in his face. salmons also has a good pass feel. his lane driving ability is above average, and can get to the line and knock em’ down.

To me, the key of the bulls this year is going to be Deng. Remember the rumors of him ending up with the lakers? people were comparing the kobe-deng possibility to the jordan-pippen era.

Ben Gordon cannot help a team unless he learns how to play point.

i think saying BG cannot help a team is crazy. a lot of teams could use a tenacious scorer like him. there aren’t many players in the NBA who can get 20, 30 or 40 points a night for you. sure his denfense may be subpar, but he definitely contributed to the Bulls’ success last year. he doesn’t need to learn to how to play point, he is a scorer, but he’s able to help bring up the ball.
