My one big concern with Buddy is will he be able to break down NBA athletes off the dribble, he was never James Harden at breaking guys down off the dribble at OU (that’s who this site compares him to)… He can clearly shoot the basketball but can he be an effective 2nd ball-handler and rim attacker?

A guy like Ray Allen made a nice career without really breaking people down off the dribble – same with Klay Thompson

He’s no harden athletically. Honestly not even close. A better comparison is Brad Beal in my opinion.

Best shooter since curry? Nope. Klay. Also, I see Devin Booker the better pure shooter. Hield shot looks kinda ugly to me.

Agreed. His shot looked ugly to me also at OU but I think it looks better in this video

He’s a fantastic shooter. But if that gets taken away, what is he doing to help a team?

It doesnt seem like hes a natural facilitator. When he drives, its for a shot and his assist rate is one of the worst in the draft. So when guys run him off the 3-point line, which will be in every team’s scouting report, what is he going to do?

Who is he going to guard? I don’t see him checking guys like Durant, Paul George, Kawhi, DeRozan or any good wing scorers, so do you have to hide him? I want my perimeter guys to be able to cross match and switch if they need to, so if Hield can’t guard those guys, you have to hide him.

These negatives don’t add up to a top-5 player for me. I’d consider him in the 9-12 range but I just don’t see him bringing enough to the table for a lot of the teams in the top 5-7.

Whoever said Ray Allen didnt break people down off the dribble doesnt remember Ray Allen in his first few years in the league. Dude used to blow by people and dunk all the time.
