qDizzle32ParticipantJust love how he said "Embiid" instead of embed. This website is awesome for what it does to us.

mikeyvthedonParticipantThat is all you can tell at this point. Can shoot a bit, moves alright, could be an intriguing defender. Don’t know what video you wanted to post, as you just posted a list of video, so here are some recent ones:
Bruno speaks very little English, will be a tough transition. Risky choice for sure, think they wanted Ennis and when he was not available, went with the top long term prospect on their board. The Spurs were apparently interested in him as well, so I have heard. Hard to say there was a player who would step in and play an immediate role, historically players drafted at 20 have not done that. Understand the skepticism, though I am willing to see how it plays out. Definitely the most shocking choice. The only two teams that sent scouts to see him were the Raptors and Spurs. As much as I like Fran Fraschilla, who is right about his being raw, my guess is he has not seen him in person or watched much video. Certainly do not think he is Giannis (Durant is not even justifiable in the least), though he has some incredible physical tools, is crazy young and if he can become a rotation forward, it is not an awful pick. Big "if", though.

CavFanPRParticipantLike I said in another thread, Giannis Antetokounmpo wasn’t suppose to be read last year and we all know how good he looked at times. This guy could surprise. I was schocked when I saw this pick, never heard of him lol. Brazil producing great talent.

KingslayerParticipantI love how the team is putting in the work this summer. DD, Ross and Amir all working out together, JV getting lessons from the Dream. Caboclo is apparently going to be rostered next year so it’s great that he’s joined their workouts 2 days after the draft. I still feel like this team is underrated. If they resign Lowry, the raps will be poised for another big year and a bright future with rising talents in JV/Ross and maybe Bruno one day. The Raps have solid coaching, a young improving roster, and a ton of chemistry and momentum coming off last season. I won’t make any bold predictions, but I’m cautiously optimistic in my Raps’ future as a potential contender in the East.

BallinmvpParticipantA report just came out that he will be playing in summer league and the raptors are going to keep him on the roster

Lotto StudParticipantI like the fact that he understands English in terms of responding better than the usual. He will do just fine once he comes over, as far as being accustomed to the league and way of life.

theTKOshowParticipantanybody know how different the level of competition was that they faced? Giannis is D2 Greece and the translator guy made it sound like Bruno’s team is one that produces a lot of athletes for all sports. I think it could be somewhat of a measuring stick to see what their level on competition was and how they produced
I was one of the many people who had to take a walk or two around the block to cool down because like most of the world, i had neveer even heard the name lol but the more im seeing and reading, i think he could be alright. he’ll see little to no nba playing time but practicing with the team, having coaches to help daily plus a proper workout plan should help along. maybe even some dleague time, so im definitely excited.

OhCanada-ParticipantI thought about the competition level too. I think D-2 Greece maybe more competitive but Pinherios is a Sporting Institute similar to Real Madrid, or Bayern Munich. They are not just dedicated to competitiveness but also to development. Thats something young players wont get as much in Greece. The grooming.
For the record I hope people dont expect him to be as productive as Antetekoump. I made the comparison in another thread and I see now that we cant fairly make that comparison. Giannis put up average numbers for a rookie on a team competing for losses to get a top pick. They won Jabari Parker last year. Toronto is a young team trying to shift into the "compete for a championship" mentallity like Indiana did a few years ago. If Giannis was on this team his rookie year he wouldnt get as many minutes, and he wouldnt play in the same situations.
Im shore if you gave Cabolco 25-mpg on last years Bucks team he would pull down a few boards, get a few blocks/steals and hit some three pointers everygame. Team might lose but his stats would be there.

torukParticipantI listened to this interview and some of his interviews in Brazil and he is really shy, he freezes in front of
the cameras, even in portuguese. But one thing you can realize in this interview ia that he is very, very happy to be in this situation(who wouldn’t) because he is a lot more expressive than he usually is on camera. Also, from what i am hearing here, Bruno has an amazing work ethic. He will put all the necessary time in the gym to become a great player. If they develop him correctly watch out.

If you look at the list there weren’t too many starters (from the ones I know) and major impact players. Yes there are some role players but at 20th I like how MS tried to hit a homerun for the future of the team.
I also like how the raps are deciding to bring him in and start developing now rather than seeing how it goes in brazil. They’re gonna throw him in the deep end right away and especially since he’s young, I’d rather them do it this way than go a different route.
In the end of the day imo some toronto fans i’ve seen on twitter and some on other sites make it seem like we picked bruno with a top 10 pick. If we did then yes, MS deserves to hear it from Toronto.
I have faith in the pick and in MS and in the end of the day if we take care of all of our free agents and maybe tinker with the bench a little we’ll still have the fun, hard working team we got use to watching from last year with playoff aspirations and a potential ace in the pocket that we can pull out and play in 4 years.

King CaluchaParticipantI think he can be Giannis without the passing (though you never know… he could surprise us). The athleticism is there and if he develops just one skill at a decent level, he could be in Toronto’s roster this season.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantBruno was traded to the Kings who will release him. We will have have two years away from being two years away.

r377ParticipantRaps would be kicking themselves about this draft pick. Especially since Rodney Hood and Clint Capela were drafted after Bruno (20th pick).
Alot of us had Rodney Hood going late lotto to mid first round – I had him going 14th.
