drk3351ParticipantHey guys, I analyzed SL tape from a game Caboclo played, the 1st round pick of the Raptors. Let me know what you think of him as well.

TarHeelRavenParticipantAs Fran Fraschilla so eloquently put it…."He’s 2 years away from being 2 years away."

OhCanada-ParticipantThats so annoying. The worst thing about that statement is that everytime it is repeated Fran gets more publicity and thus more credibility. So because he had very little info other then a spread sheet and some higlights, no judgement on the kids character, drive, or skillset he says a cynical comment that makes him look somewhat authoritive to uphold his position.
Babylon system!

ballislyfe25ParticipantHe played well in summer league and the argument can be made that he outplayed expectations. The potential is definitely there.
I was personally impressed by both his demeanor on the court and shot selection. He took some contest 3s, however, he seems very comfortable with his long distance shot and most of them were on target. I believe he is playing in the D-League this year and I will definitely be following him closely. Should be fun, like this young player.

OhCanada-ParticipantGreat job! You dont get enougy credit for these videos. On th subject…
I think Caboclo is about 1 and a half "seasons" or about 120 games from being a contributor consistantly. Late in his second season I thinm he will be able to be counted on consistantly. His three biggest setbacks would be obviously size, ball iq, and communication. With added time in the weight room, time on the floor and time practicing english these things should come naturally.
Right now if he does not build on his skillset and he just improves on those three glaring weaknesses I see him playing like a longer Matt Barnes three and D type guy. Its hard to evaluate a guy who hasnt been given proper professional development time at the age of 18.
His upside is extremely exciting and he should end up being a very servicable player. Toronto needs to bring him along from the end of the bench slowly and allow him to build up a complete skillset to maximize his potential.

Captain LParticipantI think Caboclo will be very good, he has very good athleticism, great length, his shot isn’t broke, it should improve without a problem, I think Toronto will tutor him and his english will come along quickly, IMO like Antetakumbo his potential isn’t appreciated , players with his potential don’t come along in the middle of the draft every year.

thparadoxParticipantHe could be a contributing NBA player right away. He was very disruptive on the defensive end with his length, and assuming he can translate that to the regular season there is already a role for him.
It looks like his basement level is a 3&D type player (especially projecting a couple years of improvement). I think Batum is a good comp at this stage
Excellent pick by the Raptors.
