Brooklyn gets: Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings

Detroit gets: Deron Williams, Alan Anderson, and Mirza Teletovic

    Brooklyn lineup: Jennings/Joe Johnson/Kirilenko/Smith/Lopez

    Detroit lineup: Williams/KCP/Singler or Anderson/ Monroe/Drummond

Deron Williams reportedly wants out of Brooklyn and Nets management are frustrated with him as well. Brooklyn takes a chance on two guys who didn’t work out in Detroit but with good coaching from Kidd I think this Nets team can make the playoffs as the 5th seed which is better than last year. The Pistons made a mistake with their 3 big man lineup and SVG likes the front court duo of Monroe and Drummond while still having spacing and shooters all around them. Detroit will hope Deron Williams can return to all star form and lead this young team to a playoff berth and keep growing with them, he turns 30 next week so he should have a good 4 years of playing at a high caliber for the Pistons.

As bad as the investments of Jennings and Smith are, Deron Williams is a worse one.

And at least he can run a team and lead them to the playoffs which he’s done his whole career. Maybe he can be a 17/9 guy for Detroit setting up Monroe and Drummond in the paint and also dishing it out to all of the 3 point shooters Detroit will have.

I read about this is a possibility on bleacher report I think, and it’s a great deal. This is addition by subtraction and allows Detroit get back on track with their two young big guys, and a pg who can play but needs a change of scenery. Maybe the Pistons could make this trade and reel in Lance Stephenson as well.

Who’s trading for a 30 year old, injury prone, average point guard who makes 20 million dollars for the next 4 years?

Williams has 3 years 60 mil left on his contract. They can take a chance on him for 3 years he’s better than Jennings and will be better for the next 3 seasons and they also get rid of smith’s 3 years 42 million left which allows them to match any offer for Monroe. Jennings isn’t the long term pg and they’d Atleast have a guy who will play solid and maybe rejuvenated in Detroit for 3 seasons while helping them finally get back into the playoffs where they haven’t been in 6 straight season. They could draft a pg next season or in 2 years and groom him in under DWill for when his contract is up.

They’d be able to keep Monroe regardless. That’s how restricted free agency works. You can match ANY offer. While Deron Williams might be better, I’d rather have 80 games of Brandon Jennings than 30-40 games of beaten up Deron Williams and 30 games of the killer combo of Will Bynum/Peyton Siva. While both the Smith and Jennings contracts would be hard to trade, they are not impossible. If the Pistons acquired Williams, they would never be able to get rid of that contract. Never.

If williams can get healthy I think he would be good for either team, but that is a big IF.

     If I’m following…

Deron gets bk to give away Favors and picks to bring him over for year. Then makes them trade another pick (Lillard) because he wanted Gerald Wallace for a year. Team then mortgages entire future to surround him with depth for a championship run, and when he comes up short, he wants to leave.

And it makes sense that the reaction is to send him to a team he can compete with and take back that trams 2 worst contracts.
