If you had to choose one of them as your center who would you pick and why?

    2010-2011 stats:

    Lopez: 19.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.4 apg, 0.6 spg, 1.4 bpg, 47% FG,  80% FT, 34 mpg

    Hibbert: 12.9 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 2.2 apg, 0.3 spg, 1.8 bpg, 45% FG, 72% FT, 27.5 mpg

I would take Hibbert. Lopez is one of the league’s best post scorers but he is an atrocious rebounder and only an average defender. Hibbert won’t win games for you like Lopez occasionally can, but he’s a much better rebounder and shot blocker and he alters every game with his size. Earlier this year he would’ve been my pick for MIP, so if he can get over this mental thing and regain his 15-10-3.5 assist-2 block form I’d defintely take him. He’s also arguably the second best player on a playoff team.

Give me Lopez, Hibbert is too inconsistent offensively and lacks confidence to be consistent on nightly basis. Atleast I know what I’m getting with Lopez, 18-20PPG nightly and his rebounding is fixable (he averaged 8RPG just a year ago. )

I’ll take Hibbert, he’s a better passer, has better length, shot-blocking and rebounding. He won’t be the focal point of your offence, but neither should Brook in my opinion.

Hibbert, he offer so much more then what Lopez does.

Hibbert has a good mid range game, he blocks shots, improving defender, solid post moves and a very good passer for his size

Lopez can score for sure, but the no rebounds just kills all of that, bad defender, no hustle whatsoever

Lopez is the better scorer but I do feel that Hibbert brings more to his team. Lopez is probably seen as the Nets best player alongside Harris and whilst Hibbert is a 2nd even 2rd option on the Pacers team. I could honestly say if you put both guys on an equal salary then I reckon many more contending teams would rather have Hibbert than Lopez.

the only thing lopez does better is score hes the worst rebounding c in the league well maybe bargs in toronto is worse plays no d at all and doesnt make anyone around him better which hibbert does with his excellent passing for a big and he is a really good help defender which helps make up for def mistakes his team makes

Is Brook Lopez seriously only averaging 5.8 rebounds or is that a typo?

Legit unfortuntely. I take Hibbert any day of the week. Lopez refers to himself as a 7-2 pf even though he plays C, and with that poor of a team, there are plenty of opportunities to get bounds. Hibbert may go through slumps, and isn’t the best rebounder by size either, but I at least can expect him to play SOME D.

Funny that before the season everyone was actually talking about Brook being better than Bynum, and even the second coming of Tim Duncan. Funny how that Kardashian Booty changed all of that with Kris Humphries looking like a legit 10-10 guy.

Personally I think it’s mostly due to him not being the type of guy to go "get" a rebound, but there are some softness issues as well.

I honestly dont think there is that big of a difference between the 2. Offensively they are identical and hibbert might be slightly better on defense but not by a wide margin. I think its a tossup

Roy Hibbert does have excellent hands for a big man and although the idea to run the pick and roll offence through him was maybe a step too far, he is certanly one of the better young ball handling bigs in the NBA today and has become a very good pick up consdering he was only drafted 17th I recall in 2008.

I agree. at 17 you just can’t complain. They both battle inconsistency. Hibbert is very fundamentally sound, and seems to be hard worker. Not to mention he had a bad coach who had too high of expectations for Roy.

Roy’s game is more of the type that blends itself more than it stands out. He reminds me a lot of Big Z in his prime. Not quite the rebounder yet though.

Roy really needs to work on his leg strength though as he seems to be able to backed down far too easily.
