Now that LeBron is committed to returning to Cleveland, let the Kevin Love trade speculation return! I know that Woj reported a few days ago, that they were considering acquiring Love for a package based around Andrew Wiggins. I think that’s the single best piece that’s been offered/proposed for Love up to this point (Klay? Lol. Parsons? Maybe. Dragic/Bledsoe? Warmer.) So I hope Minnesota does a deal that looks a little something like this:

Minnesota out, Cleveland in: Kevin Love

Cleveland out, Minnesota in: Wiggins, Miami’s 2015 first round draft pick, Thompson, Waiters/Bennett, possibly Dellavedova (or some other filler to make salary work).

I would also be happy if Minnesota could find a way to shed Martin/Brewer/Bud off the books in this deal, but perhaps those will have to be separate deals or buyouts.

If Minnesota is gonna get rid of Love, they need to acquire assets, and Wiggins and the Miami first rounder is the best they’re gonna get at this point. Also, Imagine Rubi-oops to LaVine and Wiggins on the break…daaaaaayumn!

And I can already hear the Cleveland fans going "But…but…WIGGINS IS UNTOUCHABLE!!" Nope. When you’re talking about trading for Kevin Love, there are maybe like 6 completely untouchable players in the league: Bron, KD, The Brow, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and you could argue a few others. Saying Wiggins gives Cleveland a better chance to win than Love does is absolutely ridiculous. Wiggins hasn’t played a minute in the NBA. Love is a top 10 player in the league (some may even argue top 5); people just don’t realize it because he’s been forced to carry a smaller-market team that without him (save for Rubio and Pek) is an utter pile of garbage. He’s better than Bosh for sure, and Irving as a third piece in the new big 3 makes them instant championship contenders. When you have a chance to get a talent like Love, nothing on Cleveland except for LeBron and possibly Irving is untouchable.

He will at least get a look at wiggins in a cavs uniform.  With lebrons choice set, Cleveland can wait minny out.  I wouldn’t give more than Waiters and Thompson.  Let alone Wiggins by himself.

I feel like they have depth.
they don’t have to trade for kevin they can wait until hes a free agent and clear space to out right sign him or sign and trade.
Im not moving wiggins for kevin love because if he does become a a paul George or mcgrady I rather keep him as a side kick then trade him when I can out right try to sign love next season.
varejo can take less next year and bennet can be moved in deal . they will find a way but don’t move wiggins and I like waiters off the bench.

I don’t think Cleveland needs to give up that much just to have a better offer than the Warriors, keep in mind Love may stare the trade towards Cleveland now. They’ll give a package around (Wiggins or Waiters) and Bennett. Probably would prefer to keep Waiters to have as many shooters next to James. Depending on the cap situation, they’ll add minor contracts to make the deal work.

Isn’t Ray Allen supposed to sign wherever LeBron does?  Get him.  Go after Pau Gasol as a 7 footer who can score inside, rebound, pass, and block shots.  Pick up another guy to defend.

Then I don’t think you NEED to trade for Kevin Love.

Kyrie, Waiters, LeBron, TT, and Andy V would be a good starting five.  Then you have Dellavadova, Ray Allen, Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and Pau off the bench.  Joe Harris would be a 3 point specialist off the deep end of the bench.

Another thing, maybe they go after Carmelo Anthony…

The Cavs are in the driver’s seat now.

Wiggins MIGHT become T-Mac or Paul George. He might also become Brandon Rush. He may even at a worse case become a slightly more offensively gifted version of Corey Brewer. He could also get injured and flame out of the NBA completely (not that I would wish that on anybody). The point is, he’s a completely unproven commodity at this point. Based on his play in college (showed lots of talent, but looked lost on offense at times and was passive at others), there’s reason to believe he may not ever reach that potential TMac level. And just simple probability shows that many lotto picks (even #1’s) bust. Does Cleveland really want to gamble and wait for that? LeBron doesn’t have time or patience to wait for that anymore; he wants to win now while he’s in his prime. Love has PROVEN he’s already a top 10 or top 5 player, depending on who you ask. And he’s still only 25, which means he’s just only starting to enter his prime. Plus, he’s added something significant to his game every offseason, and has improved remarkably every off season, so he’s still got room to get better! Sure the potential reward with Wiggins is bigger, but there’s also a lot more risk involved. With Love, there’s little risk (other than injury); you already are guaranteed a top level NBA player.

Signing Bron is a good enough hedge if you ask me. They are in no rush to trade someone that can be a boom or bust player. Say Wiggins never lives up to the hype, they are still deep enough on the wing. Wiggins trade value could go up significantly or it can go down but at this point Cleveland has gotta roll the dice on such a talent.

Normally, I would just give a thumbs up and read, but here it seems necessary to show a little support for a post that will inevitably be drowned with Cleveland fans who think the Cavs should get Love without giving up Wiggins, and then call it fair. Cleveland, rejoice! You’re about to have the best Big Three in the league–as long as you can keep your greed in check.

Cleveland, despite years of horrible drafting and GMing as been gifted LeBron back, despite them running him out of town 4 years ago. And if you’re also being gifted an opportunity to undo a number of the most horrible drafting decisions in the last 5 years (Thompson, Waiters, and most of all Bennett) and replace it with Kevin Love, then I think you have to jump on it.

They just said on sportscenter that the first trade offer that Cleveland just made was:

Waiters, Bennett, and a first for Love

Obviously that will get rejected, still waiting on a counter from minny

    agree with ollstar

they can play with the cap in try to sign him next season why give up all your assets when you can just move bennet ,gee, etc and give varejo less his next contract if not let him walk.

they can potentially sign love straight out just have to wait one year

its a 50/50 with wiggins wheter he lives up or not but why take the risk when its a high chance you can sign him and keep wiggins and your picks?

wolves take bennet or get nothing back at all the cavs have the power and if wigggins is a bust which I doubt he will be but if he is they can move his contract and still outright sign love.

    I would stand pat.

also just because they have LeBron doesn’t mean they still don’t plan for the future they have an option to build for the future and contend now who has that?
keeping wiggins and signing love straight out makes this a dynasty along with those two picks that might end up in the lottery.

    I would stand pat.

Lavine and Wiggins maybe the most athletic combo of wings in the league, nice fastbreak options for Rubio

Minny needs to be simple. No Wiggins, no deal. Waiters is too shot happy and too much of a chemistry killer to ever be more than a top tier 6th man, and Bennett would not have even gone top 10 in this draft. Bennett looked like he will be no betterthan a bench player. Wiggins is the only youngin Cleveland has other than maybe Thompson (debatable) that’d start on most teams. The Wolves need a starter, someone with star potential, in return for the top PF in the NBA.

I would rather just keep Wiggins and sign Love next year in free agency. What happens if come trade deadline Golden State takes Klay Thompson off the trade block due to not wanting to trade him for a rental? What if Love says that he will only sign long term with the Cavs? I have a hard time understanding what leverage the T-Wolves have. He’s leaving Minny next year so they can either get something for him now or let him walk for nothing next year.

The leverage is they can get a better deal from other teams. Boston for example.

theirs no leverage no one knows love will resign not even the cletics and we all know love is leaving.

ppl are failing to realize cavs are in postion to out right sign love and of course he would love to play in the east after being in the tough west and of course he would want to play with LeBron, and kyrie and compete for almost the next decade with this team. not a1,not 2 not 3 not 4 not 5 not 6 but 8- 10 years this team has the upside to compete at a high level and its not even done being put together what if those 2 draft picks are top 10 picks ? if they really do push the age limit back this could be beneficial to the cavs. love wants to be see what cavs have to offer that’s a no brainer.

wolves have no leverage at all. cavs would love to have him now but also would accept him next year WHEN WE KNOW FOR A FACT HES LEAVING AND ISNT SIGNING WITH A TEAM THAT ISNT A CONTENDER.

right now the cavs are Cleary a landing spot for love. playing with a LeBron a champ and a former usa teammate in the easy east is a no brainer. wolves fans want something back but golden state has to give up to much and that would turn love away from re signing the cavs are the perfect fit. but we will see. he won with LeBron before and the depth this team brings and the talent this team will develop will acquire the next seasons is ummatched by any team. stand pat and sign love next year.

As a Twolves fan, I would love the three Canadians.  If we can resign Rubio, than we have some interesting young parts in Rubio, LaVine, Wiggins, Bennett, Dieng, Shabazz, and Robinson.
