SwatLakeCityParticipantI just heard from espn.com, that the Jazz and the Grizz are discussing a trade involving Ronnie Brewer. Who else does this trade include, possible Gay, or Randolph, or maybe Sam Young. Why are they discussing brewer’s future, when they should be discussing Booze’s future. I mean he is the reason why they are in the pickle financially that they are in. (well both him and AK, but mostly Booze) Or maybe the trade involves both Booze and Brewer. Or maybe there is a three-way trade in the mix. If so, who is the other team? I need some answers from all of you insiders.

JNixonParticipantHe’d be a good defender to bring off the bench, and he could possibly play some PG if they felt like playing him there for spot minutes…He fits great in Memphis because he’s more suited to be a 2nd unit player, where his limits on offense are less magnified. I see Memphis giving up DeMarre Carrol and Darrell Arthur probably

quinceyhodgesthey not saying much about boozer because hes in the last year of his contract so he will be coming off the books next year. not much said about ak because no one wants his contract. its what the nba calls a poison pill. i doubt the grizz would include gay or zach. and the contrats both have (and what gay will have) will hurt the jazz finacially

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI was about to post this. I saw on insidehoops.com that it would be for a couple picks. Probably their 2010 pick they got from the Nuggets and maybe their own 2011 pick also…
The Jazz dont want to take on a salary. They are trying to get under the cap for this year.

SwatLakeCityParticipantTo 8thdeadlysin. The Jazz have the Knicks pick in 2010, and as for 2011, they only have their own. But why would would they trade their 2010 knicks pick? We could use this pick to help in case Booze leaves via Free-agency, or on a SG, that can both defend better then Wes. Matthews and shoot better then Brewer. So trading that pick does not make any sense unless, Memphis is willing to give Utah someone like that.
Is Demarre Carrol any good. Does he produce anything remotly close to what Brewer does, both defensively and offensively. Especially defensively. We are giving up alot defensively in Brewer.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantThe Grizz would trade the picks for Brewer. The Jazz arent trading any picks according to my source. To dumb it down for ya:
Jazz get:
2010 Grizzlies pick originally from the Nuggets
2011 Grizzlies pickGrizzlies get:
Ronnie Brewer0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 2:31pm #249411
quinceyhodgesin case booze leave?..thts a for sure thing that he leaves. millsaps new contrat plus the fat the jazz wont be able to afford him. ome on youre a jazz fan you should know these things

butidonthavemoneyNo. No. No. No. No. No. No.
The Grizzlies can’t have him. The Jazz won’t trade him. The Jazz really like Brewer, he fits the offense and is one of their best defenders.
No.

j1232eParticipantif the jazz trade brewer away for picks, jazz fans everywhere can write this season away, no playoffs. For the upside we will have two lottery picks in this draft. As a Jazz fan I dont care about next season I wanna see a run this season!

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI think that this would be okay if AK47 was healthy. Since he isnt, I dont like this trade. CJ Miles, Wes Matthews, AK47 could have made this work but if this goes down, they would have like 3 picks in the first round. This could be a really good draft and it could help the out. They need a big to step up and play. Fes and Kufos are killing this team.

j1232eParticipantboozer has been sliding over to center when memo goes out and millsap has been playing power forward. Small front line to 6-8ers

quinceyhodgesthe height of that front line isnt the problem though it the fact that boozer has been know to be a bad defender.

joecheck88Participantthere have been some talk that jerry sloan and carlos boozer have been getting along, and carlos boozer hasn’t really talked about wanting a trade or anything. Is there any chance they work this out and resign boozer. If so, they would have to trade Millsap right? And if not, can Utah sign and trade Boozer this summer, because if so wouldn’t they just keep the team together and see how far they can go in the playoffs. Because watching them against the Spurs last night, they looked really good.

butidonthavemoneyBoozer is actually a very good defender. He gets a lot of steals and rebounds and defends his position well. He just doesn’t block shots

MuggsyParticipantBrewer would probably benefit more on Grizz. But yeah that will pretty much kill off the Jazz this year.

SwatLakeCityParticipantTo butidonthavemoney, I agree with you that Brewer is a steal, and that the Jazz shouldn’t trade him, but I know what I saw on espn.com as a rumor. Remember what they did with Maynor. Traded him for scrap, absolutely nothing, but financial help. And now because of that trade we have Gaines, who reminds me alot of Maynor, just not as good of a passer, but I did see on the rumor page today on Espn.com, that the Jazz would have to make a decision on whether or not to move gaines, Of course that had better not happen. We got lucky, when we got gaines, and he was able to preform the way he has, we can’t be that lucky again can we.
To quiceyhodges, I am a jazz fan, and I am worried that Booz will leave via free agency, but I also know that Sloan, the team, and the fans, have forgiven him it seems, and they may end up resigning him for next season. (Yes, I agree with trinajoe) They may be trying to provide enough financial to resign him for next year. But I am not ruling out the fact that they could do a sign and trade, which may be better for the Jazz in the long run.
to 8th deadly sin. I like the idea of getting the grizzlies pick in 2011, as well as their nuggets pick this year. Then we could have 3 first round picks!!! the nuggets pick, our own, and the grizzlies pick, via Nuggets. Do you realize how much of a steal that would be, especially considering the talent in this year’s draft. And Ak47 is healthy thanks to his workouts during the offseason, and is playing very well for them lately. But I agree Fez, and koufus are killing us. Miles is too, because I heard he has so much potential, but for four year I have not seen a thing. He should have stayed in college when he had the chance.
