After watching the Vegas and Orlando summer leagues which 2nd year or higher player should have a breakout campaign in 2010-2011?
    For me it’s:
Demar Derozan- With Chris Bosh gone there will be more shots for everyone else to take. He has great chemistry with Sonny Weems, Jarrett Jack, and Ed Davis and his offensive game meshes quite well with Bargnani’s Perimeter based game. He has developed a more reliable jumpshot and looks far more aggressive than last year. If he shows a commitment to defense this year, it could be his year.

Javale Mcgee- He is really long, really athletic, and shows good hands and a soft touch for a big guy. He is usually good for a couple blocks in any given game and has all the physical attributes of a good rebounder. Him and John Wall showed very good chemistry and converted at least two oops per game. If he just works hard he should have all the chances in the world. Looks like he could be a starter this year so the minutes should be there.

Jrue Holiday- The guy played great the last quarter of the season last year and pretty much dominated in Orlando. The first possesion of the summer league he splashes a three in a guy’s eye. He controlled the tempo, found open teammates and got to the bucket pretty much at will. His decision making could be better but that seems to the trend with young Point Guards anyways so im not too worried about that. Showed far more confidence, a better perimeter shot, and the same good D he has always been known for. With the Sixers going Up-Tempo again I like his chances this year.

    Austin Daye

If the Pistons trade Prince and play Monroe at center with Jerebko at the 4 then he will start or Rip will start

Austin Daye averaged in summer league 15 points 3.7 rebounds 2.7 assists .7 steals and 1 block

he’s 6’11 as well and the pistons drafted him hoping he would be like Prince

I think McGee will be very much improved this year. He is just so athletic that when Wall drives he will but up a floater and McGee will still grab it and throw it down.

Mcgee should be better. Get around 12pts 8reb if he can stay out of foul trouble and learns to play better defense against NBA bigs.

I think beasley will have a breakout year

Derozan is going to become a 2nd scorer on the Tooronto Raptors. I think he will average 15 PPG for one half of the season and 20 PPG for another half. Andrea Bargnani doesnt play well on the road which is why I dont think he can become a reliable 1st option. Late in the Season I see Derozan starting to take 1st option from Bargnani.

JJ Hickson feed completely off of Lebron. He has ok skill, he did score 34 the other night in summer league, but the best part of his game is his athelticsim. Far from MIP.

I think Andrea Bargnani’s numbers could explode. That doesn’t really make him a better player, but alot more rebounds will fall to him and more offense will be run through him.

    I agree on DeRozan.

    I agree on Terence Williams.

I agree on Javale McGee, although I still see him having trouble in post-D.

DeRozan is looking good, reminds me of a young VC with all that crazy athleticism. Lets hope that he doesn’t let Toronto kill his competitive fire.

Beasley or DeRozan for a breakout year.
