NO EZ BUCKETSParticipantWhat players do you guys think will be a contender for "most improved player" or have a breakout season? These are some of the players next year that I think will come back much better.
Demar Derozan– He could possibly be the 1st option on the raptors. Has shown drastic improvement in his short time in the NBA. If he can add a jumpshot to his arsenal he will be tough to stop.
James Harden-He will have to take the shots that jeff green isn’t there to take. He also showed alot of great playmaking abilities in the playoffs so he should be handling the ball almost as much as Westbrook and Durant
Greg Oden– Its easy for a player to improve when he hasn’t done much already but if he can stay healthy for a season or even just 70 games, I believe he could have a big impact on a game.
Gilbert Arenas– Will probably have a bigger role on a magic team that doesn’t have that #2 guy. I believe he could be that scorer off the dribble that the magic have been lacking the past couple seasons.
John Wall– IMO he will launch himself into the top 5-6 point guards(rose, williams, paul, rondo, westbrook).
Blake Griffin– Not much needed to be said here but after a sensational rookie season I hope he doesn’t have a sophmore slump. But with his intense work-ethic I think clippers fans should be very excited about next season.
Evan Turner– If phili gives him more minutes and/or iggy is traded he could average 15ppg. I don’t think he will be or should be the 1st option so I hope holiday abd iggy/whoever thay trade for becomes their "go to guy".
Monta Ellis– Whether in golden state or with another team he WILL BE the focal point of the offense. After a great year scoring I think he will round his game out more.
Andrew Bynum– There are rumers that he will be the 1st option over Kobe on a lakers team now coached by Mike Brown. Even if he isn’t his role should be increased.

MagikKnickParticipantI’d like to add..Kyle Lowry, it’ll likely be his first year as the full-time starting PG, I think he’ll emerge into that 2nd tier of PGs, he did good towards the end of the season when he was Rockets main PG, a full season could only do good..

aamir543ParticipantI know I will get negs, but I don’t care.
Jeremy Lin. He is a hard worker, is a scrappy tough player, who can give you solid minutes at the point. I think If Ellis is traded at somepoint in the season, and they decide to play Klay more at the 3 than the 2, look for Lin to get some minutes.

MagikKnickParticipantWhats the obsession with Lin, aamir?
I like him too, I remember watching him in summer league last year, he did pretty good…had multiple teams offer him contracts. I think Ellis’ll be traded at the deadline…
And for the other 3/4ths of the season, I dont see Lin playing over Curry, Thompson, Ellis, Jenkins, or Reggie Williams..

Scottoant93Participanti’d like to add Danilo Gallinari, with the nuggets possibly losing chandler, nene, martin, and jr smith, I think it gives Gallo the perfect opportunity to come in and breakout, possibly become their number one option. George Karl said he expects a lot from him next season

ilike.panochasParticipantI look for Jeff Teague to beat out Kirk Hinrich for that starting spot, and finally have that break out year everyone has been waiting for out of him. Atleast 14PPG 5APG is what I expect from him next season.

aamir543ParticipantWell, the Lin obsession is nothing now compared to what it was in August or even October. I go to a school that is predominantly Asian, they say it’s 50% Asian, but I bet you it’s close to 70%. So a bunch of us in Spanish would joke around about how Lin is the best, and it sort of became a trend within some us guys to hail Lin as the best. One of the games I went to this year, Lin crossed up Tayshaun Prince pretty badly, well the whole arena was probably louder than it ever was in Miami during the Finals.
He is not the Brian Scalabrine of Asians………….yet. He does have some promise, but to be brutaly honest, everyone including Lin himself knows that if the Dallas Mavericks Summer League team was not slated to play the Washington Wizards, he would not be in the NBA.
And MagicKnick, you are right, he probably isn’t going to get much PT, if any, then again, he is Asian……..

WizardofOzParticipantDefinitely think DeRozan can break out. The improvement ha made from his rookie to sophomore year was remarkable. He still has some weaknesses, but I think he’ll imrpove on all of them. He’s a hard worker. As soon as the Raptors season ended, when players are usually resting, he was in the gym working on his game. Now that’s dedication right there.
I agfree with Gilbert Arenas. He was in horrible shape last season, and didn’t have any confidence in his knee or jumpshot. He’s lost a lot of weight since the season ended. I think a full offseason will also help him regain confidence. He seems to have gotten his sense of humor back. I hated old boring Gil. The guy is the funniest man in the NBA. If y’all have any doubts about that, visit his Twitter. He’s even trying to get #0 back!
I think John Wall is a prime candidate also. He’s also a hard worker and has reportedly made progress on his jumpshot. He’s also gotten stronger, and Flip Suanders even said he might’ve grown 1-2 in. I think his scoring can go up, and I think his assists will go up too if his players stay healthy. Can see him becoming a top 5 PG next year.
And y’all already know how I feel about Andray Blatche. He’s one of the most versatile bigs in the NBA. He’s currently training in Miami, so if he comes into next season in shape, I can easily see him putting up All-Star numbbers.

SubZeroParticipantHopefully Terrence Williams. He’s got a lot of potential, and after a season that was disappointing to say the least, he can come out and be a completely different player and take steps in the right direction.
Brandon Jennings can bounce back from that major Sophomore slump.
If OJ Mayo gets traded to the right team, possibly the Bulls, he can have a much better season than he’s had so far. If Carlos Boozer keeps underachieving (compared to his play in Utah) in Chicago, OJ has 20 ppg potential

MCRIZZParticipantI am biased but I love ma boy demar so yes he is my first pick …
but I also think that if marcin gortat steals the starting job from robin lopez and forms a chemistry with nash he could easily have a breakout season ….
Last year to end the year he averaged 13.9 10.8 as a starter just getting accustomed to the system …

festar35ParticipantI can see Roy Hibbert finally putting it all together for the Pacers, it doesn’t hurt that it will be a contract year for him.
Another guy i can see breaking out is Ryan Anderson if he starts to get the consistent minutes he deserves.

hiphopismylifeParticipantIm praying that James Harden gets the opportunity to break out. He’s a great player.
I think Paul George could have a major jump this year. he’s the biggest reason why Danny Granger’s name is coming up in trade talks

Da1potParticipantNicolas Batum will have a breakout year and should really flourish stats wise if Brandon Roy’s minutes are limited or not. He should be an all-nba defender in the near future as well.
Stats-wise I don’t think Monta Ellis can have a "breakout" season because I don’t see him putting up a better line than 25 and 6 which is basically what he had last year.
I don’t expect him to be that efficient but Gerald Henderson should put up big numbers on what will be an incredibly awful Charlotte team as of now. He might actually be their second option behind Spaghetti Maggette.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantGordon Hayward-He seemed more comfortable playing the shooting guard than small forward..And that great 30 point game he had against the Lakers last year gave him confidence…
Avery Bradley-When he was given minutes he showed he belong in the league and capable of providing instant offense…
Greg Monroe-I was surprise when he slipped to number 6 in the draft…And Detroit is very happy he did..
Xavier Henry-Before he got hurt he showed poise and played very good defense…If he comes back healthy and starts the season well OJ is gone,by the deadline…
