NBA Star Delonte West Arrested On Weapons Charges
Cleveland Cavaliers Star Delonte West Arrested After Md. Traffic Stop; Found Carrying 3 Guns
Font size Print E-mail Share 0 Comments
(AP) Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West was arrested Thursday after officers pulled him over for speeding on a motorcycle while carrying two handguns and a shotgun in a guitar case.

Prince George’s County police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Reedy said Friday the Cleveland Cavaliers player was arrested about 10 p.m. Thursday.

Reedy said West was riding a Can-Am Spyder motorcycle north on the Capital Beltway in Upper Marlboro when he cut off an officer, who pulled him over.

Police said a handgun was found in his pocket, another in his pant leg and a shotgun in a guitar case strapped to his back.

The 26-year-old West, who lives in Brandywine, was charged with speeding and weapons counts. Reedy said West was released on his own recognizance early Friday.

Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry said the team was aware of the situation.

“We have been in communication with Delonte and his family,” Ferry said in a statement. “We are gathering more information and will not have further comment until the appropriate time.”

A shotgun in his guitar case…that’s like that movie Desperado. Don’t mess with Delonte if you see him on the streets.

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

the cavs better hope he don’t go to jail during the season…but knowing courts with business ties, he’ll play this season and including the playoffs/finals. If the cavs don’t win it all this year, and delonte ends up in jail after the end of 09-10 post season, you can finally believe lebron will be marching his 6’8 275lb talent out of cleveland.

I think Delonte West has alot of problems. He fought a bout with depression last off-season that had him wanting to retire and suicidal. He has issues that he needs to work out.

And Q, you’ve never seen Delonte West play? Just curious becauseof your post.

Whoa, so Delonte West is a superstar? No

    He is a good 6th man…not a good starter.

Yeah he is a very good player, as of now he is a very good Defender and can drive the ball and shoot the 3, good scorer and can guard most 1’s and 2’s ,very good player.

He is nut’s though, he should take the Beasley path through rehab or whatever its called, extremely stupid thing to do.

no he is not. He is not that good.

He can do everything good but not everything at a “starter” level to me. He is better off the bench then starting IMO.

All those people who took points away can hold nuts.

Yeah Q, I like your attitude! Delonte West is Anthony Parker minus 3 inches. That to me spells bench… or Apmti… The teammates of Lebron are overrated, just like the teammates of Jordan were underrated. I

hes valuable for their team. hes a huge reason for them having such a good defense last year, i think hes a better starter because his strength is defense and that would mess up their defense if he came off the bench and they wouldn’t be as good of a defensive team.

.no if they didn’t have LBJ…they would be a bad defensive team

Delonte is solid. He could start and it’s not a bad thing, but he wouldn’t start for most teams. He’s just a solid player.

I’m not saying the man cant start. I’m saying he is more a 6 man for me…he is better as a 6th man imo

And…he will be a 6th man this year anyway

I agree, Delonte West is a bench player. He can be replaced by Anthony Parker and Daniel Gibson to a lesser extent.

Lebron can only guard one guy. and Mo and Big z aren’t really that good of defenders, hes a good defender they wouldn’t have been such a good defensive team if it wasn’t for him hes about an average starter id say but fits his role perfectly with Cleveland.

of course. but what i said is Lebron can only guard one player and there are some weak defenders on that team but they still were a top notch defending team and West was a huge reason why.
