I CALLED GAMEParticipantThe Brooklyn Nets & Joe Johnson are negotiating a buyout, once the buyout is completed where do you guys think he will end up?

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantCleveland and okc make the most sense if he wants to play for a team with a realistic chance of winning a title.
Toronto, Houston, Boston, Dallas, Atlanta and maybe the clippers will probably all show interest too.

OaktownWarriorsParticipantJoe Johnson has as been an All Star playing with the Hawks and Nets. But Joe Johnson has never been that leader, that extra piece to take that team over the top or the next level. He can shoot and score, but really nothing else. The Cavs already have a player like that on their roster, James Jones! To win a ring, you have to be able to play some D-Fence and homeboy doesn’t do that!!! So to me, Joe Johnson signing onto a winning team, doesn’t really much.

asmartin626ParticipantJoe Johnson and James Jones comparison huh? I know Joe is winding down in career, but you couldn’t of been serious

gopack10ParticipantSeriously…I don’t mind you thinking that he may not make as big of an impact as some have suggested, but the James Jones comparison is just awful.
If the Cavs brought him in, he’d play quadrupal the minutes of Jones. Defensively is where it is really laughable. Johnson isn’t the player he used to be on that end of the floor either, but he’s tremendous upgrade over James Jones.

nath09ParticipantWhat has Joe Johnson done for any team he has played on that James Jones hasn’t done?
Started, averaged 20ppg, he has also worked on the All Star weekend and got paid. He might never have been the assertive team leader people thought he should have but he has had a fine career!

markfitz14ParticipantThe Cavs are desperate to get someone on the bench who can create his own shot. Jones is a spot up shooter.
I never liked J. Johnson much, kinda laked that intensity for me. Hopefully the Cavs grab him cheap and he can crank it up a notch to help bring Cleveland home a Title.

phila9012ParticipantOKC, he could be in their closing lineup. He could play 20 to 25 minutes off the bench. All he would have to do is play solid defense and hit wide open 3s.

220ParticipantI wonder where Joe Johnson ends up. It largely will depend on how hungry he is for a ring. If he’s really ring hungry I envision that he goes to Cleveland, maybe Golden State or San Antonio if they are interested. If not then he goes to whatever playoff team offers the most playing time.

HitsterParticipantJoe wasn’t a superstar but he was a 7 time all star and always considered a very good pro. He isn’t the player that he was but he brings experience and shooting to a play off team.
I always thought that OKC would be a good fit for him but Cleveland, Spurs, GSW, Clippers as mentioned above could all be in the mix. He was a legend in Atlanta so could possibly return there, Miami and Chicago might be options too.
As a wildcard I’ll throw in the Celtics or Toronto who might want a bit of experience on the roster.
Personally I think he should just go for best chance of a title in his opinion at this time and then assuming he only signs a short term deal he can look at the best longer term option in the summer and he might have a title to his name by then.

Bankroll PJParticipantWho the fuck ever said he was a legend in Atlanta? lol. He was the best player on a team that made the playoffs every year, just to lose in the early rounds and a multiple time all star but no legend. He’ll always be remembered to Atlanta fans as the overpaid guy that never showed the leadership or tenacity to get them past the 2nd round, despite being a gifted and consistent scorer.

reinie13_phxParticipantOf coarse the released him on the day they play the Suns. Why? They don’t even get their draft pick this year… Being a Suns fan… Brooklyn will still beat us tonight even without Joe

markfitz14ParticipantAs a Celtics fan I hope you are wrong lol. I have been watching those W/L closely. But the Suns are bad right now with all the injuries. They are going to be in at 3rd worst record prbly.

juves4783Participantto me, the spurs seems to be the fit. johnson is still a good facilitator and the spurs’ system is predicated on ball movement. he’s also still shooting decent from 3-point range at 37%. they are also one of the few teams that play more half court then run and down the floor at a frenetic pace.

VRod305ParticipantHe’ll sign with the Cavs and won’t help much because he won’t get the ball at all with LeBron and Irving around.

ExumInfernoParticipantMost overpaid player in NBA for all time, probably.
Just launching bricks the past four seasons, some bad shooting percentages.
But he can play, and for what his new team will pay he will be a bargain. Some outside shots, more assists than expected, someone good for taking technical free throws.
His passing will help Cavs or Thunder the most, as well as spacing the floor. Thunder have open spot, Cavs will create controversy as they have the two Knicks at shooting guard.
A great fit for Spurs too.
From their huge 5 of Pierce, Garnett, Williams, Johnson and Lopez, only Brook remains.
Brooklyn are doing something to help their pick, which is for another team. Fans of the Nets should go on vacation for 3 or 4 years, just don’t watch, by the time they are good Simmons will be nearing retirement from the NBA.

VRod305ParticipantThat is why I don’t understand how people in the national media consistently bash the Sixers and how bad we are. I would much rather be bad and have four first round picks plus Embiid, plus Saric, plus tons of cap space than Brook Lopez, Thad Young and three more years of no first rounders. Then you have the dumpster fire that the Lakers and Knicks are. We’re in such a good situation compared to these teams.
