The 76ers would be wise to sign him.  I think he could compete for the starting position with Henderson or at least Crack the rotation.  Stauskas and Thompson are garbage and Luwawu is about a year away. He maybe this year’s Will Barton as a breakout performer. Tonight he had 15points, 4rebounds and 2steals in 13minutes. Did anyone watch the game? When did he get his points and did he play down the stretch.  Philly won by 3.

Since the Simmons injury, its pretty much been crickets from Philly fans.

I mean, this season is around the corner and we’re still talking about Nic Stauskas being a serious part of the rotation.  We’re talkin’ about Stauskas man.

People want me to stop criticizing Philly….and I’ll gladly do so. But not until they’ve made a commitment to winning basketball games. I’d rather watch Brooklyn, cos I know they’re out there competing every night.

And any roster that features Nic Stauskas is not serious about winning games. As long as he’s there, it’s still "The Process".

You are worse than Trump. I wish we had CNN fact checking for your posts.

Stauskas is garbage, as is Sergio Rodriguez, Grant, Covington and about 80 percent of their roster. I actually think TJ McConnell could be a really good back-up PG, but he’s not a starting PG in today’s NBA.

With that said, I saw two pieces to the puzzle today, and two is better than zero. As of right now though, their best players all play the same two positions and they will need to figure out who is the best of the group, then starting moving the others to construct an actual basketball team and not just a workout academy.

Dario Saric can play. Really impressed with what I’ve seen from him. He can’t really handle it well, but he’s a gamer. Can rebound, pass, shoot and can create ugly, old man stuff. Really good feel for the game.

And Embiid, if he stays healthy, is a skilled DeAndre Jordan. Maybe not quite as explosive an athlete, but built exactly the same with same height, frame, build … only he can actually play basketball.

They need shooting and competent perimeter players. Their best shooter right now might be Saric.

It’s early in the preseason but it’s clear that Stauskas is not delivering, and might never deliver. Players like Stauskas may need time to adjust but right now the 76ers are not in last year’s spot where they can afford to for a player with his ceiling.

Paul just had a decent preseason game and if he can stay at this level all preseason he should make the team.

Ben Simmons injury makes things tougher as Jerami Grant is becoming likely of getting a roster spot for depth need.

Holmes and McConnell have proven enough to be locks to make the team it seems.

I doubt they would cut Brand.

Luwawu’s summer league and first preseason game were not outstanding but good enough as a foreign rookie for him to be a lock as well. They should really try to develop him rather than Stauskas and give him those minutes. He seems better to me than Fournier his rookie year, so assuming he develop as well as the other french guys (a nation which adapts incredibly well to the league), he should become a starter caliber guy soon.

That leaves 2 roster spot for Brandon Paul, Stauskas, Jerami Grant, Hollis Thompson, and all the guys I am forgetting.

Right now, I would get rid of both Stauskas and Thompson.

If a ‘big guy’ trade happen before the start of the season we could see more of those guys make the team, or none of them, depending on how many chips are part of the deal. Such a trade will likely bring a shooting guard or small forward to the team though, and benefit Jerami Grant (already the big winner because of Simmons injury). If a point guard is coming, TJ is probably being traded to the other team, opening a roster spot for Paul.

It’s possible though Stauskas still have some value as a former lottery pick with a profile of players that get their success late in their career (JJ Redick). But given how he failed so far, I think a Jimmer Fredette go-to-china-as-soon-as-possible career is more likely, and no team should show interest for him with Philly in trade talks, making him the guy to cut.
