butidonthavemoneyWhat does he stand to gain by working out with Jennings/Flynn/Holiday? He is a 2-4 pick without any question at all.

mb6297Obviously Brandon Jennings is still immature. He could’ve given his opinion through more polite answers.
Rubio is a cocky arrogant kid too though… we just don’t see it in the media.
I’m also confused why Rubio is skipping on these workouts.
“Rubio has already informed teams that he won’t do workouts, but he might visit them to meet the front office and owners.” http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2009/news/story?id=42419290 - Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 6:54pm #162698

knicksfreakParticipantJennings is the man.

0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 7:22pm #162712

Mr. BasketballParticipantdocholliday: jennings’ shot is bad also and rubio shot a better percentage plus rubio is better in most things now including knowing how to handle the media apparently.

mb6297Rubio cannot shot better than Jennings…. the stat is misleading. Rubio does not have NBA 3 point range. He has a good 3% percentage because he rarely shoots 3’s… only when he is wide open.
Jennings on the other hand shoots off the dribble and when people are close to him and thus a lower percentage. His shot is nothing like Curry’s, but he has a strong one nevertheless.
Jennings also is a superior athlete. He will learn how to behave in front of the media during team orientation.

pichonazoParticipantJennings was cut by his european team while Rubio was the Franchise player in DKV.
Jenning said this after they played in euroleague
“Now to what everyone wants to hear about, the game and the matchup with Ricky. Unfortunately Ricky only played about 8mins cause he’s still kind of hurt from a wrist injury he suffered in the Gold Medal game vs. Team USA, but in just 8mins he showed me a lot. I have a ton of respect for the dude. He’s real mature out there on the court, he has a great feel for the game. He passes the ball like crazy, reminds me of Steve Nash a little bit. Put it like this if he were in the class of 09 in high school basketball he would be the #1 player hands down. No question about it. I can only hope that when Ricky and I one day get to the NBA we can be like Chris Paul and Deron Williams, as our careers take off together like CP3 & D Will’s did. Despite what the critics say that he can’t shoot Ricky is going to be going a Great NBA player someday…he brings a complete game to the table.”

bobbybParticipantBoth are overated. Niether of their stats are impressive. But i give Rubio the edge because of how well he played against team USA. He fit right in like he belonged.

mikeyvthedonParticipantTo me, he did not really say a damn thing wrong. When someone who you have played against and bust will not even work out or try and prove himself against his peers, why do you have to be diplomatic? He even said he understood about Rubio not doing the workouts, but he feels he is better than him. Jennings to me looks like a competitor, he looks like he is taking things seriously and I do not at all think he has the wrong attitude here. People on this board have said many of the same things Brandon has said, but since Brandon is playing in the league he should hold back? Please, if anything Rubio should take that as inspiration for when they finally do play. I do not think Jennings needs more inspiration in that people have already taken Rubio over him regardless of how the two played against each other, or really anything Brandon Jennings could have done. Would Rubio have done what Jennings did at Oak Hill? Brandon knows Rubio can ball, but what else would he say when asked about him? “That Ricky sure is a nice kid, I think it is fantastic every has rated him higher than all of these other point guards.” I mean, he is a point guard, from Spain, that is going to be a top 5 pick. It is unprecedented, and everyone should have the right to be skeptical, especially a person vying for a draft spot like Brandon Jennings.
I mean, I saw idonthavemoneys thing earlier about Chris Paul being asked about Mike Conley if hypothetically Mike Conley put up 20 and 8 against him, and yes he would look stupid, but I do not think this is that situation. Rubio has not done anything against Jennings, and vice versa. When Chris Paul were going to be drafted, and dude said “Well, I think I should go behind Bogut, Williams and Williams”, you would seriously question his intensity. Jrue Holliday said he wanted to go number 1 in the draft when asked where he thought he was going to be picked. He may look stupid to people for saying that, but I got where he was coming from and see someone coming to compete, so I say good for him. Everyone wants to be the first pick, Michael Beasley is still pissed he wasn’t last year. Lose respect for Brandon Jennings when he starts flipping out about guys who are kicking his ass (a la Kenyon Martin after the Lakers beat the Nuggets), not when he answers a question like almost anybody else in his position would have.

Meditated StatesParticipantRubio is going to get ate in the NBA. No way I spend a top 5 pick on this kid no way. These guys are going to lock him down just wait and see. And Jennings knows it. Come on now what do you think Jennings and Flynn would have did to this kid in the workouts. LOL. They would have torn Rubio apart he would be falling out the top 10 after that sh!t. Rubio will be a solid point who gets a lot of assist, but I don’t see much scoring potential.

Lodzio20ParticipantBrandon has right!!!Ricky Rubio is overrated
PS. Flynn is funny guy0- Posted on: Sat, 06/13/2009 - 3:16am #162782

magnitoParticipant1. Ricky Rubio will not play this year in the NBA. Probably next.
2. I don’t know Jennings playing so i can’t say nothing about, but i know Rubio, and only i can say is that i convince in 2 seasons he will fight with Paul for the best PG of the league, and i am not fanatic of.
Say me that i’m wrong:
