MopgrassParticipantI hyped Ingram as the best pick in the draft. Then I saw summer league and realized I was wrong. Simmons was amazing. All year Ingram looked destined to be better than average, not a future all-star… until recently. He is killing it. His numbers aren’t huge and he’s on a minutes restriction, but he looks like a new man.
Magic Johnson told him to drive aggressively and since that day he’s been great… especially in the last week. The last handful of games he’s posting up, driving, and being the go-to guy. The results? The Lakers accidentally won the past 3 games.
Yes, he looks dainty, but he fights very hard. Yes, sometimes physical contact on his shoulder and back knock the ball out of his hand. But in 3 years he’ll be strong enough. I’m out of doubts, he’s a future star.

Kwame33ParticipantI haven’t watched him play recently, but just as a general rule of thumb, I wouldn’t put a great deal of stock behind impressive late season performances on non-playoff teams. Year after year I see players who were pedestrian all year string together a series of good games that you hope are foretelling, but theyreally just benefited from the end of the year malaise. Seth Curry is an off the top of the head example from last year. Boy put up like 20 and 15 one game even.

Kwame33ParticipantBut I’m not discrediting you either. Like I said, I haven’t watched him play so there could be something about the quality of his play or a change in demeanor that I’m obvious to.

kobyzParticipanthe was advertised as his outside shooting will be his greatest asset, if his shooting not come along to a real weapen he’s no more than a role player at best, right now he remind me victor radd…

OhCanada-ParticipantLakers really may have just played themselves out of a top 3 pick. Now ranked 3rd in the draft if any team outside of the top 3 wins the lottery they concede thier pick. I think Orlando wins it this year.

HitsterParticipantLots of players go on a late season run so to judge that against genuine improvement in a young prospect can always be hard. Ingram has not had a headline making rookie year but lots of great players never had a solid a debut year as he has. He was made to earn his starting spot and hasn’t played huge minutes – Luke Walton has gradually increased his workload and each month his basic stats have improved.
The big thing will be kicking on next year and say getting to 15ppg across the whole season. But Brandon is still only 19 and with a full NBA season under his belt should hopefully be able to hit next year up and running.

iguapops420ParticipantIt’s not even what Ingram is doing so much as how he’s doing it. You can. Simply tell he feels different. Before he would just glide through games not even looking to do anything. Now? Dude is calling for the ball, being vocal in the offense, keeping the defense see on their heels while staying in attack mode. Dude is good for 1 or 2 impressive throwdowns per game as well. Full court leak out bullet passes. You name it he’s flashed it lately. The attacking has really opened up the rest of his game. He’s getting smaller guys in the post and just feasting. Even started forcing doubles against both clippers and grizzlies.
I’d expect 15-17ppg from him next tbh. Kid already talking about how he and zubac are going to dominate SPL to the tune of 40&30 lmao. That kind of talk isn’t something you would have heard from.this shy backwards kid 2 months ago. His growth as a scorer has occurred faster than I ever could have expected. He’s legitimately went from option z to option a over the course of about 3 games. Already got the call from the Mamba to work out together this summer. If he gets that footwork down? "Mama, there goes that man"

OhCanada-ParticipantUnfortunately for every basketball fan even when the Lakers are terrible and tanking they find their way onto every television platform. From what Ive seen most of the year Ingram seemed pouty and negative. His body langauge seemed terrible and childish. When you add in the fact that hes the youngest player playing for the least competitive team in the league where Deangelo Russell is your leader you can kinda see why. I think Magic has given him a helpung hand and helped inslire him a bit. He should develop fine with time.

iguapops420ParticipantNever got that kind of impression from.ingram. Just seemed more introverted than pouty or childish. Kid just isn’t an outward person so I can see how it could come.off as negative. There is a reason Walton kept putting him out there as the second leading mpg guy even as the youngest player in the league.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI am still a big believer in Ingram and I am very grateful that the Lakers said no to the cousins deal when they insisted Ingram be included. His first season has by all accounts not been great, but there are moments when you see the type of player he could eventually become. He’s a better shooter than he’s shown so far. I think its a confidence thing more than anything right now. There really doesn’t seem to be a major mechanical flaw. Sometimes you just get t he feeling (especially earlier in the year) that he is unsure of when to shoot. It has gotten better the second half of the season though. The real key for him this offseason will be to really develop his body so he can attack the rim with more confidence and have the ability to absorb contact. Hes just still so young and undeveloped physically at this point that it would be unrealistic to expect him to really have a whole lot of success this year. I actually applaud luke Walton for sticking with him and continuing to give him pt throughout the year, even though it probably cost them some wins.

BeastMode716ParticipantI never thought he would be anywhere close to Simmons b/c I think Simmons is THAT guy & it still kills me we missed on Simmons & KAT in consecutive years by one pick
Ingram is Def playing better but post All Star break success can be fool’s gold for young prospects b/c the whole league tends to loosen up & as many as 20 or more teams are "going thru the motions"
Since Jeremy Linn returned the Nets are playing better & the Lakers & Suns have basically been in tank mode so teams are just not taking us very seriously. This time last year D’Lo was looking good & then he looked great in Summer League & then this season started & he regressed
I’ll reserve judgement until next season but Ingram’s lack of elite athleticism worried me before the draft & it still does. He’s never going to be a strong guy, he just does not have the gentics to ever gain much weight (which does not matter if someone has freak explosiveness but Ingram does not). For much of the year he’s been reduced to an outside shooter & b/c he never had KD’s 1st step he just can not get the room he needs to get that shot off (I worry about Ball for the Same reason)

iguapops420ParticipantI find it laughable that people still talk like Ingram has some kind of a lack of athleticism. You can see the bursts such as the quick first step, break out speed(even with the ball) and very that just so happens to go along with a crazy wingspan. One more year of NBA level training on his body and you will see a different type of athlete. Giannis wasn’t a freak athlete as a rookie either. He had extremely long strides, a long wingspan, and a big vert. Three years of NBA training later and he’s sudden ly a top 5 athlete.
