I have been very impressed with the way he has looked so far this season. Last season he played very passicve and not very aggressive which made him have somewhat of a disappointing freshmen season. He started for about 1/4th of the games last year and contributed more as a role player than a star. That was also believed to be why he was cut from Team USA’s U19 Team last summer due to him playing similar to that in training camp. Ashley this season looks way more confident, looks more tempted to shoot the ball than pass (which is a good thing in his situation) and even looks more aggressive on the boards and defensiveley. I have been waiting for more NBA prospects coming from Nor Cal since there haven’t been many recently other than Damian Lillard and Jared Cunningham and how Josiah Turner ended up being a bust. If Brandon Ashley continues to play like this for the rest of the season, he will definitely been talked about as a 1st round pick again.

Yeah Zona is the truth.. I think hes a lottery pick, has allot of skill. He reminds me of KG because he can shoot and attack. Hes a solid rebounder and athlete. He needs to have more dog in him tho, like KG. Hes quiet and he sometimes shows emotion but he needs to be more amped up

He looks much better this yr.  He admittedly took a backseat to the upperclassmen last yr which is understandable, but he’s playing with more confidence and assertiveness now.  His shot looks nice as does his face up, blow by game. He reminds of those 6’8-6’9 thin, long face up PFs we see around the league, like a Darrell Arthur or Dante Cunningham.  I think he can eventually fill a similar role.

Side note, but am I the only one who thinks Nick Johnson can and should declare this yr?

He looks spectacular. He’s such a complete guard.  He’s more of a combo than either a PG or SG, but I think he can defend either position and he does have experience playing the point.

I think he fits perfectly the sparkplug-of-the-bench role that NBA teams love. In the mold of Barea, Robinson and other small combo guards who have found success.

Johnson is like 6’3 200. I don’t get the comparison to those 2.

Johnson needs to work on his playmaking skills and his overall offensive game..But he’s tought, smart, good shooter and a decent athlete…Reminds me of Derek Fisher….

A decent athlete? There are questions about how Johnson’s game will translate to the next level, but his athleticism has never been in question. According to Arizona he recorded a 47 inch max vert before this year…
