UNCbasketballbumParticipantJust watching the Knicks-Bucks games and I was wondering where Brandon Jennings has been. I remember a couple years ago he had that 50 point game against Golden State and thought he was headed for stardom. Haven’t heard much about him lately. I know he shares the backcourt with Monta Ellis now, but can he still be a star?

WizardofOzParticipantNo chance he’s a star.

For_Never_EverParticipantHe will always be out of the elite top 5 PG. But he is very good a second tier player

Bmore_DCParticipant^^^how can you say he has no chance to be a star?

WizardofOzParticipant^^I have never thought of Jennings as an intelligent PG with good instincts. In HS, he was a huge chucker who was more of a ball dominant scorer with bad shot selection. His game combined with his small frame and athleticism, led to poor man’s AI comparisons. I still see a little bit of that in his game. When I see him run the point it still looks like he’s trying to learn the position and he ends up overcompensating (trying to be too fine), making poor decisions

FastAndFuriousParticipantNo matter what anyone says this guy could be a star if he bulked up and gained it the right way,I think the only thing that holds him back is he is weak, I’ve read articles where he says he doesn’t want to bulk up too much and lose his speed but he wouldn’t.
Eric Bledsoe is 195 at 6’0 and is athletic as all get out.
Johnny Flynn is 192 at 6’0 and is a nice athlete.
Ty Lawson is 195 at 5’11 and is probably top 3 if not the fastest guy in the league.
Jennings is a pro in the NBA making alot of money if he wanted to get bigger and stronger he could find the best trainers and they would bulk up the right way so he wouldn’t lose any athleticism.
In fact when you gain muscle and get stronger you become even quicker and faster.
That’s just my take, and that’s what I think is keeping him from becoming even better.
Look at Rondo who came into the league at 171 and pretty skinny, now he’s 186 and while he’s not huge, you can def tell he’s alot bigger since his rookie days, and hasn’t lost any speed or quickness.

For_Never_EverParticipantRondo was always good since coming in the NBA. I don’t think Jennings gaining ten pounds will do or change anything about his game. Like Rondo me and a couple of my friends have similar body and at the very most 15 pounds of muscle is Maxx what we can gain.

Pro-21ParticipantBJ is 180 + now he put on good muscle, look at his high school highlights…he was anorexic compared to what he is now.He has a naturally skinny build, i don’t think he could put on like 10 more pounds and still be fast, he doesnt have that build he’d lose some speed and maybe some bounce. He’ll be an 18-21 ppg 5-7 assists a game and low 40 % shooter player for his career i think. He’ll be like a fringe allstar at his best i think. He’ll be a very good, but not elite pg in the nba.

FastAndFuriousParticipantIDK man, I don’t think BJ is that heavy, while he has bulked up a tad bit, he still looks super skinny, him and Rondo have the same type of frame, but you can easily tell Rondo has buffed up alot since his rookie year.
I think BJ can def bulk up some more without losing any of his athleticism, you won’t lose athleticism if you get stronger and gain muscle, long as he isn’t putting on fat he will be ok.

durantula83ParticipantDon’t talk about things you don’t know sh-t about. Jennings is having a great season, his improvement is the main reason the Bucks have been in the hunt for a playoff birth all year long. He’s upped his field goal percentage again this season to .419 up from .371 in his rookie year 2 years ago. His decision making has improved alot which also reflects in less turnovers and he’s become more mature as well. You’re all hating on a young cat that’s still only 22 and scores almost 19 ppg. With 5 years away from his prime, ain’t no telling how good he’ll just become.

BasterdInABasketParticipantWhat kind of money do you think he’ll get after next year? Stuckey got 8.5, Conley got about 8/yr so Im thinking in that area. Thing is I just dont see how a team can be a consistent winner with him at point guard. Even if he were to sign with a team with multiple scorers and find a role not being the 1st or 2nd scorer, hes still to inefficient and lacking great pg skills.
Im just hoping Milwaukee sees this and gets some sort of return for him by next year. Watching him and Ellis play its clearly obvious that Monta is the superior player but long-term I dont like him either.

rwd5035ParticipantBasterdInABasket,
I bet some NBA GM gives Jennings 10m. It seems high for him, but that’s what I think will happen.

PulseGlazerParticipantI don’t think Jennings ever fully puts it together. He’s just not efficient.

goldie92689ParticipantJennings is an excellent player, he gets overlooked in the "pg era"…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 04/12/2012 - 7:25am #658314

JNixonParticipantUntil Jennings gets stronger he will always struggle to be efficient. He just has too hard a time finishing around the rim. He has a good jumper, and he could be much worse than he is as a floor general, but he just is held back by his lack of strength to really be an efficient and elite PG. He has the talent to be though definitely, no question.

Pro-21Participant42 % from the field is tolerable and by the end of the year he’ll probably be at 43% so he could get to 44% one day, but he has an incredibly low turnover rate and I think people under appreciate that attribute. BTW , easily one of the best ballhandlers in the league.

Ghost01ParticipantBig win for the Knicks, credit to them, specifically Melo.
But this game showed what the Bucks can be when Jennings and Ellis are both dialed in. They are the quickest backcourt in the league, and surprisingly, play nicely off one another (unlike Ellis and Curry). I know that was a "do or die" game supposedly, but theres plenty of time for them to make a run and Philly to choke.
