The more i see footage of brad beal the more i feel he will become a eric gordon or best case ray allen type of player however some may believe the decison of him going to flordia with tons of combo guards can possible hurt beal deveplopment? or can it allow beal to develop some point guard skills? either way im very excited to see beal play this year.. hopefully he becomes the number one option.

 Even if w/o Beal, Florida would have a top 5 backcourt with Walker, Boynton and Rutgers transfer Mike Rosario, who avg’d 16.7 ppg a couple years ago. I really don’t know why he chose Florida.

 I’m not sold on the Eric Gordon comparisons or the Ray Allen comparisons for Brad Beal.  I don’t think Brad is nearly as good as a run/jump athlete that Gordon is (or Ray in his athletic prime).  Also, Beal doesn’t have the strength early on in his development like Gordon did.  I don’t see his body being able to put on Eric Gordon type of weight without losing any atheleticism either.  

For Brad to be effective at the next level for me, this is what I would like to see out of him at Florida:

1. Needs to be able to break his man off the dribble and get to the rim consistently.  I feel he will have the opportunity to do that as Florida may be running a 4 guard offense a majority of the year.  His handle needs to be tight as he doesn’t possess blow by you quickness.

2. Since he is not extremely athletic and he is only 6’4, I would really like to see how he passes the ball.  Being able to hit people when they are open off a dribble drive will only help his case when he decides to finish at the rim as where defenders aren’t sure whether he will try to score or set a teammate up.  At this stage in his career his passing is a little below average for an undersized guard.

3. Defending bigger guards.  As mentioned in number 1, Florida seems to be leaning towards a 4-guard offense (or at least signs point to that), and Beal is by far the biggest of the guards (Walker, Boynton & Rosario are 6’2 and shorter).  This will allow Beal to prove that he can guard people bigger than him, and not be seen as a 2-guard who will get posted in the league.
