The Chad Ford article on draft tiers largely confirms what I’ve been thinking about Boston and their two picks.  I really believe the best thing they could do is stay where they are and take the two best players who fall to them.  They’re in a sweet spot in the draft to get two guys who could have easily been picked much earlier.

I keep hearing they want to package their picks to move up, but how high can they get?  Milwaukee at 12 is the first team IMO who might trade back to take those two picks.  But unless someone really falls, in this particular draft the players available at 12 will be pretty close in value to the players who will still be there at 21 & 22.  If Detroit or Toronto wanted to deal, maybe…but only because the players available there are on a (slightly) higher teir; but I kind of doubt either of those teams wants to move back that far in the draft.

It just seems like adding 2 of Royce White, Sullinger, Nicholson, Harkless or whoever else falls to them is the best way to go.  Any of those guys could contribute now to supplement the old guys who stick around, seasoning them for when they take over a couple years from now.  2 is better than 1 (just about) every time.

     exactly… totaly agree…

you can add two good prospects at 21/22 who won’t be so weaker than someone you can grab at 12.

I will be pissed if the Celtics trade up. This draft is so deep there is marginal difference between 7 and 21/22 unless they’re desperate for a SG that’s the only reason why the Celtics, or any other team drafting past 15 for that matter, should trade up is if they need a SG.

I see them trying to move up to get Austin Rivers. They are going to dangle their 21,22 pick and maybe Avery Bradley to see what they can get as avery Bradley at 6’3 180 is too small to play shooting guard and he can’t run the point effectively

I think they should grab Harkless. He’s got a sky high ceiling, and can develop behind Pierce. Once Pierce is out, Harkless could take the starting job in his early twenties, and ready to hit his prime. It sounds like Royce White is likely going to be one of the picks, and I doubt the Celtics would take both White and Harkless.

It doesn’t matter if Bradley is only 6’2 or 6’3" 180, he played fantastic all season at shooting guard especially defensively and really stepped up when Ray Allen was injured. Trading Bradley, 21 and 22 is way to much for a pick outside the top 6.

I still feel Sullinger will be around come 21/22. I think Ainge takes a shot with him especially since they lose Bass and need another banger down low. I think the C’s will overlook the back issues. Another option for 21/22 could be John Jenkins, Andrew Nicholson or even Jeff Taylor

Boston is in a great position as you said. They can resign KG/Allen for 1 more year and make the final run while they have 2 rookies working their way into the rotation. If Sully is there Boston would take him without a doubt. I like Jenkins and Andrew Nicholson with one of those picks because they can knock down shots – Pietrus looked aweful. Jeff Taylor might be the best option for 21 or 22 because they need a successor for Pierce. He looked to get old in a hurry in the playoffs this year.

If they want a sg… they only have to add an early 2nd round pick to grab lamb jenkins or cunningham (1 of them should fall there)…

… or they could remember what they did last year when they traded away marshon brooks to get jajuan johnson…

I really hope the Celtics stay put during Draft night and grab hark le Harkless and Andrew Nicholson with their picks. Nicholson could be a good young PF that could develop into a great one under KG, and Harkless? You have to love his potential as a future starting caliber 3 especially behind The Truth. But next year, I could already imagine both of them as contributing bench players that provide energy and athleticism.

I tend to agree with the general sentiment that the two picks are not such a bad deal.  But if they think they would have a shot at a natural scorer like Rivers it might make sense to trade up.  This team needs to find a new way to score buckets.  But they can also do that with free agency and cap space for once.

I certainly would not add Bradley into the trade mix though.  His D is why he was drafted, and it’s why they need to keep him.

Stay where they are.  White and Harkless should both be top 10 picks. Celts get two steals.

Only one bigmen under contract and this guy is jajuan johnson, ouch…

I don’t know what they are planning to do with jeff green, but that will remain only 3-4-5.

    The pool is harkless-miller-white-jones*2-moultrie-sullinger-nicholson-melo.

Upside vs nba readiness, legits or tweeners, make your choice…

Having an outstanding playmaker is huge, i think they shouldn’t go with tweeners.

Keeping green i would probably go with sully and melo if available(sully won’t, how the nuggets could pass on him with absolutely no post game), melo and moultrie or nicholson.

Moultrie could be a solid mate for rondo, run/jump/jumpshot with size.

Without green, i would definitely bet on harkless or miller with one of the two picks.

I have to think that Doc Rivers & Danny Ainge are too intelligent to invite the kind of pressure and scrutiny trading up to take the coach’s kid would invite.  He’d have to be an All-Star sooner than later – they’d be nuts to do that.  At 21/22 they get two quality, contributing players.
