While Marc J. Spears reported none of Boston’s inquiries turned into substantive talks over the weekend, there is one deal that may have been tossed around.

The rumor out of Dallas was that Boston has discussed a deal with Golden State that would send Ray Allen, Kendrick Perkins, and J.R. Giddens to the Warriors for Monta Ellis and Andris Biedrins.

The trade is cap friendly and it was just one of the rumors floating around this past weekend. It was reported that Boston has also reached out to Sacramento and Philadelphia as they continue to shop Allen for younger talent.

Parting with Perkins would be tough since he’s capable of defending the big men in the East, something Biedrins could struggle with. But in order to pry young talent away from teams, it’s going to take more than just Allen’s expiring contract.

Keep an eye on Boston in these next few days. While Danny Ainge denies any talks getting serious, it’s clear the team wants to move Allen and a deal could be brewing-hoopsworld.com

I think a Rondo and Ellis backcourt could either be a huge success or a massive fail.

This trade would make Boston substantially worse, imo… Perkins is one of the only people who could guard Howard 1 on 1 and shaq as well…with Clevland and Orlando being Bostons main competition that would hurt them up front a ton….and Rondo requires the ball on offense and so does Ellis….I cant picture an Ellis, Rondo backcourt working even a little bit…

I agree on Rondo and Ellis I could see the two fighting each other on the bench and arguing constantly.

Rondo and Ellis wouldn’t work. They both need the ball too much. Rondo handles the ball to create for others and occassionally himself, Ellis handles the ball to create for himself. Both need the ball to be effective, so I don’t see this working. Not to mention that Ellis isn’t going to be able to defend the Joe Johnson’s, Vince Carter’s, or Dwyane Wade’s with even relative effectiveness.

A lot of y’all are forgetting that Ellis has already played with a ball dominant point guard in Baron Davis… That worked out fine. I don’t think Ellis will have a problem playing with Rondo.

Defensively, Ellis isn’t going to shut anybody down, but he’s a respectable defender. He defended Roy very well earlier this season and was very competitive against Kobe.

Baron Davis was able to play spot minutes at the SG spot though, Rondo isn’t a good enough shooter to play off the ball for as much as would have to with Ellis in the lineup.

I understand GSW’s side. The owner is greedy and wants to save his money cause he has a lot of debt and the IRS is getting to him so he wants to dump salary. But Why in the world does Boston want this?
