And Jimmy just keeps improving with every minute he sees.

My Bulls will be chasing the 2 seed if Boozer can continue this elite play.

LoL at Boozer and elite play being in the same sentence. You mean the same elite play that lead to him averaging less than 8 points a game on 35% from the floor in the preseason up until tonight?

Someone in this forum said it best: Boozer was a bad investment.

Boozer should have never been signed to that overpriced contract with to many years on it by the Bull’s in the first place. Sadly It’s just a matter of time before he gets hurt. It was a blessing that he left the Jazz.

Boozer is not a bad player he’s actually a pretty good offensive player but he needs to be in a right system and have a more pass first PG. Rose is great but he really isn’t that great of a facilitator in the pick and roll which is where Boozer is most effective. In Utah with Williams he was averaging near 20 ppg and close to 10 rpg as well. Utah ran that pick and roll with Boozer and Williams very well and Chicago just doesn’t seem like a good fit for him. Yes he’s horrible on defense but he’s a good post game and can hit the mid range jumper. Chicago’s offense however revolves around Rose creating for everyone and the other guys really just need to spot up or finish around the rim. Thibs is a very good defensive coach but his offense is horrible, basically just relies on Rose to do everything. Their offense doesn’t utilize Boozer’s skill set very well, their offense mainly has bigs spot up and hit open jumpers and finish off drop offs which is why Taj Gibson does so well.

IMO the bulls should either trade or more likely amnesty Boozer so that he can join a team that can better utilize his skill set. The Bulls would be better off too as Taj Gibson fits in what they want their big to do which is defend, hit open jumpers and finish which is not where a back to basket kind of player like boozer excels in.

Why would they amnesty him right now and let him possibly go to a contender? This is the Bulls, they’re smarter than that and will wait until the summer to let him go.

When a player is amnestied they are up for grabs by the teams under the cap at first then if they are not picked up then they go to open market. Boozer would most likely get picked up by a team especially like charlotte who have been looking for an offensive big. If they were to wait for his contract to end he would be able to freely sign with any team outright and then he would directly go to a contender. It is smarter for them to amnesty him for two reasons, so they can have the cap space to resign taj gibson without having to go deep into luxury and have some cap space available to maybe sign a player that can help them score like a wing player than can create for himself.

Remember how much Asik got…Gibson will get offered a bigger deal than him and if the bulls wanna keep him Boozr has to go.

Rose could be better in the PnR, but Boozer also has lost a step as well as some lift and he’s had trouble finishing in traffic.

I also disagree that he’s a good post player. He’s not quick, he’s got heavy feet and he can’t shoot over the defense unless it’s a low % fadeaway. It’s a common misconception but he was never a true, back to the basket post player given his physical limitations.

Chicago’s offense when he’s in doesn’t just revolve around Derrick.  They’re actually one of the better teams in the league at player and ball movement.  Watch how they execute, how many screens they use, how there’s always a cut after a pass, their floppy sets and all the options that come off baseline screens.  They almost always go through their progressions before they call for a D.Rose ball screen or clearout.  They alsp happen to be one of hte better passing teams in the league.

Their main problem is that they lack offensive talent.  They don’t have any other players who can create their offense, including Boozer.  He’s not a creator, he’s a finisher.  He HAS to be set up and he has to have space to finish.  In Utah, he had the luxury of playing with Deron, who is a better PnR player, but also Okur, who’s a stretch 5, which means that the entire paint was Boozer’s.  He didn’t have to worry as much about the help defense contesting his below the rim finishes, because Okur kept them honest.  He doesn’t have that luxury in Chicago which means he has to operate in tighter quarters.  Tighter quarters = more contested shots.  More contested shots = Boozer not finishing as well.  Given the spacing issues, the best way to utilize him is in space as a popper, taking elbow and baseline jumpers with the occasional roll and dump off.

I also think Kevin Love and Pekovic not playing had something to do with it.
