    From ESPN NBA Rumors

"According to Mike Bresnahan, the Lakers plan to have Boozer start at small forward. Boozer has always played at power forward, so this move will be interesting, especially on defense. Boozer is an average defender and as a result he sat in most of the fourth quarters with the Bulls last season."

    Nash-Bryant-Boozer-Randle-Hill

    LOL

Assuming everyone stays healthy, I would probably start Nash-Lin-Bryant-Boozer-Hill, with Young, Clarkson, Davis, Henry, Johnson, Sacre, and Randle coming off the bench. I would probably split the minutes pretty evenly between the main four big men.

I read stats somewhere that big men are more likely to develop if you make them earn their spot, whereas guards were more likely to develop if you put the ball in their hands. I’m not sure where I read that, but I would make Randle earn his spot. However, I would also be ready to move Boozer to the bench if Randle was developing quickly.

Haven’t noticed any teams playing much of any zone defense, but maybe the Lakers are thinking about doing a 2-3.

theres really no reason to read anything into this. They dont even have a coach to make this decision.

It would be interesting to see the league go back to those 90s and (very) early 2000s lineup with the ‘SF’ being a big PF-type (Carlos Williamson, Jerome Kersey, etc.) But those days are over

Randle’s future is at PF, but he’s much more capable of playing SF than Boozer. Maybe he can split time between SF and PF.

I’d go: Jeremy Lin, Wesley Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Carlos Boozer, Jordan Hill. Then, Jordan Clarkson, Nick Young, Xavier Henry, Julius Randle, Ed Davis.

I’d give Randle as many minutes as anybody and avoid putting Nash on the floor as much as possible because the guy has said many things that make me believe he’s tired of basketball, but still wants a check. I also can’t go for Kobe as a SG anymore, especially on defense (if that’s what you call what he does when he’s done with offense).

Kobe has been a lock down defender for the entirety of his career. And that is a well known and widely accepted FACT

That WAS a fact. Even before his injury, he was letting players blow by him with little effort. He is done playing defense. He was great at it for a while.

Is it just me, or does this roster look really well-suited for Mike D’antoni?

No it didn’t, nobody wants to play with a delusional, aging superstar and a bunch of role players in the west with a brand new coach; regardless of who would’ve been appointed they wouldn’t have made a splash in FA. And ironically, this roster is well suited for D’Antoni. Their biggest focus should be developing Randle and adding more pieces but I think the "Kobe Factor" will impede their ability to rebuild quickly. Coach has a tough task at hand.

Boozer at SF, lol.  Disaster waiting to happen.  Just imagine him guarding someone with just a little bit of handles.

If they ever start both Randle and Boozer, defensively Randle would be asssigned to the quickest player. There’s not way Boozer can handle SF’s. Zone is a possibility, but nobody would use that a 100% of the time.

There was talk recently about Boozer being a center for the Lakers.  He was quoted by L.A. reported Mike Trudell.

His stats and offense are fine for the center spot, but there won’t be a lot of defense.

Boozer won’t be a small forward, but Randle can defend some small forwards, especially if there is a shotblocker on the floor at center for the Lakers too.

Randle does seem to be someone who is more than ready and could be the best rookie, for stats.  He should play a lot.

Boozer is probably less capable of playing any position other than power forward than any other starting power forward in the league.
