Pelicans big winners.  Sactown gets role players and midrounders.  They must be joking…

PELICANS hosed? You high? That’s a landscape generation hall of fame trade. Biggest trade chip in the league and you get a FUTURE first? So that’s AFTER NO is gonna be good so it’s in the late teens or 20s aka role player. And hield is possibly  a bust . This is ugly

I’m assuming you mean the Kings got hosed.  I just find it hard to believe that the King’s couldn’t find a better deal than this.  Unless Hield show’s a lot more than he has been so far it’ll be hard to justify.  Looks like the pick won’t be any better than mid first round.

Surely you want a potential star or a collection of assets for a player like Cousins.  Unless I’m greatly underestimating Langston Galloway..

Apparently Pelicans are also getting Omri Casppi.  I’ve always thought he was a decent jack-of-all-trades role player.

The Kings Owner and Managements pride was involved in this trade which makes them the losers of this trade, I believe they had much better offers but decided against them because they didnt want Cousins to have instant success with a team that was contending..

Pelicans made a brilliant move here.. They need to start finding shooters to compliment Boogie and Davis.

The 76ers owns the Kings 2019 UNPROTECTED draft pick. Hinkie is turning out to be a genius now.

He’s currently not working for any NBA Team.. Id save all that genius talk, hes tanked and made trades with bad teams in desperate position. He leveraged his job security and marketed his "process" bs to gain an upper hand on teams with desperate GMs.. Hes a weasel.. Not a genius

Actually Hinkie is a member of MENSA so technically is a genius in the strictest sense of the word. No matter what you may think you can’t take that away from him. He lost his job because he was stabbed in the back by the owners who caved into league pressure.

Here come the Fanboys..Ya Hinkie must be too brillant for the NBA..  The Sixers Front Office/Locker Room was in complete shambles when he was under control.. Sam Hinkies approach was a gimmick, hes no RC Buford or Sam Presti.. He marketed this whole "process" shtick to create leverage over teams.. He manipulated the Pelicans in the Jrue Holiday trade.. Over drafted the F/C position..

I did like the Saric/1st rounder for Payton trade.. but again Sam Hinkie fleecing a GM on a hotseat whos trying to win now.

I say the same thing every time I see Nelens Noel, Michael Carter-Williams, KJ McDaniels, Isaiah Canaan, Furkan Aldemir, Jerami Grant, Robert Covington, Drew Gordon, Richaun Holmes, Tim Frazier, Christian Wood, Vasilije Micić, Jahlil Okafor, Joel Embiid’s extensive sideline apparel and on and on and on… oh wait, four years later his apologists are still bragging about future picks two years down the freaking line because the players were put in a royally screwed up set up that is still hindering player development and the establishment of a team identity or system of play.

Is it too soon to just fold up the Sac-Town franchise? I don’t see anything in this trade that is worthwhile. Nothing. The draft pick is going to end up being a non-lottery pick, and the three guards can’t shoot straight and just aren’t very good.

If that is the best you can do, why not just ride out the string and let him walk in free agency. Yea, you don’t get the first round pick (who cares), but at the same time you wouldn’t have a bunch more scrubs cluttering up the roster.

    Don’t get it.

     Neither team got hosed.

Boogie has been acting up on the sidelines every season since the Kings drafted him back in 2010. That’s 6 almost 7 years of runins with the officials, anger management issues, and other seemingly small things, but when you look at it in the culmination of 6-7 years, it can have quite a disasterous effect on the entire team. The Kings thought they could Boogie’s attitude when they drafted him back in 2010, but they soon learned they couldn’t, because I think he needs some player or coach or player development trainer that understands him and can help control his outbursts. They thought his history, his reputation that he had coming into the 2010 draft were just exploits that had grown out of proportion. They soon learned over the course of 6-7 years that they were wrong. Yes, Cousins is quite the player, but his exploits had quite a toll on the team, and ultimately I think took the Kings out of the playoff race even before it began. The Kings have been trying to make the playoffs ever since they originally got rid of Tyreke I think. They finally realized who was at fault. One they are horrible at selecting draft picks and two they have a huge elephant in the room with Boogie, and don’t know how to control his outbursts. So a trade in general I think was in the works a long time ago. Yes they are starting over, starting fresh, but its what needs to happen because of the overwhelming that Boogie had on the entire team.

For the Pelicans, They have been looking for an offensive center to pair with Anthony Davis all season long. I don’t know if Cousins is the answer but he could be, and the Pelicans are obviously willing to take a shot.

I also don’t know if the Pelicans can handle Boogie’s outbursts, because these outbursts won’t just stop now that he has left Sacramento, they are going to continue with him throughout his entire career unless he confronts them and works on his anger issues to the point where they are just small instances, one in few good things about him. I am afraid for the Kings it was just too much of the bad to overlook all the good that he did. I fear the same thing will happen for the Pelicans, unless they help him with players, coaches and/or player development trainers that know where he is coming from with these anger management issues that it is clear that he has. In order for this to happen, Boogie himself, has to want to change. I don’t think he ever has or has ever seen the need to. The Kings tried to do this but they learned that you can’t force someone to change their issues if they themselves do not recognize that they have a problem nor do they want to change their issues for the better of the team, the city, and ultimately more importantly themselves. I hope the Pelicans have already realized this and have taken the necessary steps to help him along the way. Otherwise, even though the Pelicans now have 2 stars in Davis and Cousins they still will not make the playoffs, because Cousins’ outbursts have a derailing effect on not just himself but the entire team, as we have all seen over the course of 6-7 years with the Kings.

And the big winner in all this? The Philadelphia 76ers!

This move greatly increase the Sixers’ chances of a top 3 pick plus they have the Kings unprotected pick in 2019.

I suppose there was a good chance that the Kings would have ended up missing the 8th seed (even though they are 1.5 games back currently) but this trade essentially guarantees that their pick doesn’t go to Chicago.

So that is a positive for them out of this deal, as it will be a higher pick than the one they’re getting from New Orleans. But the Kings are going to waste those picks anyways so I suppose all of this doesn’t really matter.
