I’ve also seen alotta ppl compare him going to LA to Dwight going, but to me, there’s a huge difference: Boogie has skill. A real face up game. A real back to the basket game. Can roll to the basket. Pick & pop. Can go coast to coast. Can pass. He basically ran the King’s offense whenever Collison sat. Kobe hated Dwight because he missed free throws & he felt he didn’t play hard enough.

I knw there’s concerns about his character, but are they really serious? Let’s not act like the Kings aren’t the dysfunctional team they are. Has he led them to the playoffs? Nope, but think about this: the best player he’s played with is Rudy Gay. He’s played with more starting point guards than I can name. He hasn’t had a real team around him. I just think they’re gonna regret trading him. Especially to their division rivals.

Am I the only one who thinks the Kings are idiots for entertaining this offer from the Lakers? I’m not trading Boogie unless I’m getting a king’s ransom. He’s a top 10 player in the league & he hasn’t even hit his prime. He had back to back 20/20/10 games. I just don’t think you trade a 24 yr old that’s averaged 24/12 for 2 straight years. There’s only been 16 guys in league history to do that…the other 15 are HOF. He has as much talent as any center to ever play. Randle, Clarkson & Okafor doesn’t equal Cousins. If you’re gonna deal him, be patient & get a better deal, but you can’t deal him for scraps. He’s a freak. He’s the only big guy in the league that I’ve seen really euro step. 6’11 with long arms & he gets boards & goes coast to coast. He’s special.

I think DeMarcus Cousins is definitely a dominant big man and one of the best in the league. My concern is despite his statistical dominance his team has yet to win more than 29 games in any of his 5 seasons. At the same time with an equally inept team Anthony Davis has won 27, 34, and 45 games in his first three years leading them to the playoffs this year. I get nervous about overvaluing players with great numbers whose teams don’t win such as Kevin Love in Minnesota and Elton Brand for the majority of his career.

That’s not saying Cousins isn’t a great player because he is, but franchise players lead mediocre teams to winning. If Cousins had the same numbers and his teams had won 40 plus games even once then I’d be saying fire Karl and let Cousins choose his coach, but that just hasn’t been the case thus far.

Good point. I wasn’t trying to compare AD & DC though, but since you brought it up. Anthony Davis has also played with a former All-Star in Holiday, former rookie if the year in Evans & top stretch 4 in Anderson, another big in Asik & Eric Gordon, who’s nice when healthy. Although, that’s rare. Anthony Davis also has played for the same coach all 3 years of his career.

Anthony Davis undeniably had a better roster this year than Cousins. Cousins also played with former Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans. He’s played with Rudy Gay a two time good medal Olympian and all rookie first team player, Darren Collison another all rookie first team player, and Isaiah Thomas an all rookie second team player.

Last year when the Pelicans won 37 games they didn’t have Asik, Ryan Anderson only played 22 games, Jrue Holiday played 34 games, Anthony Davis played 67 games, Tyreke Evans played 72 games,  and Eric Gordon played 64 games. I’d say it’s a fair comment to say AD did more with less that year than Cousins has in his entire career.

I hope they give up both 1st round picks, plus Randle.  Plus Clarkson.  Then I hope Kobe runs him off. Just like Shaq, Bynum, Howard,  and Gasol.
