    Julius Randle

I have to be 100% real with everybody, the more I watch Julius Randle play, the more I start to humble myself and realize that Julius Randle has all the power forward skills needed, physical tools, and a beast mode mentality that will help him develop into a great basketball player. And he also has a talent level and skill level that is comparable to some of the great past and present power forwards:

    For example:
He has a high talent level and high skill level that can compete with the special talents and abilities of a Charles Barkley, Larry Johnson, Karl Malone, Paul Milsap, Zach Randolph, Derrick Coleman, Amare Stodamire, Anthony Mason, Antoine Walker, Blake Griffen, Kevin Love, etc

What I love about Julius Randle’s high talent level and high skill level:

    1. He shows the potential to be a very gifted ball-handling slasher and penetrator, who can create space by utilizing a great combination of quickness, speed, agility, and strength. His potential as a ball-handling slasher and dynamic penetrator is very underrated, because he can use a variety of hesitation dribble moves and utilize his great physical strength in ways that helps him carve out space and ultimately force his defender to play off balance and out of position. He has to improve his ability to dribble in traffic and work on becoming more ambidextrous. But in my opinion his potential as a gifted ball-handling slasher is undeniable

    2. I love his footwork and craftiness as a post player, like Zach Randolph, he has the ability to utilize every and any angle that will help him get off a accurate shot around the rim. In my opinion it is very rare to see a post player who can combine the utilization of great physical strength, body control, agility, craftiness, dynamic footwork, and excellent touch around the rim. While also being an individual who’s an creative finisher and a excellent contact finisher in the paint. And he has a variety of advanced post moves and advanced counter moves that he can utilize when needed

    3. I love is all-around physical tools. For example, he’s quick, strong, agile, and mobile, he has very good leaping ability, and he can utilize a high level of body control and balance

    4. Also the reason why I think he will be an excellent scorer and rebounder in the NBA is because he always challenges himself to fight and win the battle for spacing, angles, and positioning. In my opinion the most talented scorers have the ability to utilize the needed angles and positioning that give them the opportunity to be effective scorers. And Julius has the unique ability to always put himself in a position that will help him find the needed angle that allows him to score and create offense against tough defense and tough defenders

    5. When it comes to Julius, I just haven’t seen a power forward play with such an extreme level of toughness, heart, and skill since Charles Barkley. When needed he shows that he has the ability to be a very dominant player. And I like the fact that he embraces utilizing his skill set to be a post presence in the paint and around the rim. While also possessing the ability to be a dynamic face-up threat and dynamic ball handling threat on the perimeter. It’s a joy to see, because their are not a lot of big-men in the NBA who possess great post-up skills and dynamic ball-handling ability. And it’s impressive to see that Julius all ready has a solid foundation of post-up skills, underrated ball-handling skills, and scoring skills/scoring instincts that will help him become a player who will potentially be very hard to defend in the NBA

Aran Smith you need to start giving Julius Randle more love, because that young man got skills. I personally won’t be surprised if he ends up being the number 1 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft

Good read, but I highly doubt it.  I would still take Wiggins, Embiid, Parker and Exum over Randle.

Man he can finish like no other. But I’ve never seen a player that good that’s so dependant on using his strong hand. Its almost like he plays one handed.

You’re also putting him up against a few all time greats, and current top players at their position. Let’s not go crazy here… He’s got what it takes to be good but he isn’t there yet.

Over the course of the season, Randle has been going with his right hand more and more and has been scoring almost as well as he does with his left.

Calipari has Randle in the bruiser role, but we have to remember that Randle can also shoot the 3 ball. He has a solid shot that was showcased in high school. I’m a big fan of Randle, but don’t think he’s the best player in this draft.

This is why this draft is so good. He is averaging a double double as a freshman, but there are atleast 4 I would consider taking before him if I were a GM. I think he has a chance to be a star, he will score a lot of points in the L. His blend of agility and strength is going to create mismatches at the 4 spot. He just needs to learn to think the game. His IQ is low right now. He is playing off of just pure talent. Cal is trying to teach him on the fly to play denfense. Andrew Harrison and the other KU guards can only set people up for lops, and Cal is not the best at  X’s and O’s he has to creates 90 percent of his points.

Wow, I am actually surprised you did not get negged for predicting Julius would be the best of this class. I too am in the minority, but I really think the best player of this draft will be either Randle or Parker (probably will get negged for saying this). As impressive Embiid’s development is and as athletic as Wiggins is, I feel Randle and Parker have the talent to be 24/25+ point scorers in their primes. I really cannot see the same for Wiggins or Embiid. Embiid should be a good scorer for a center and an excellent defender, but I really do not see him dominating on the offensive end. I really see Embiid sort of as a Roy Hibbert kind of guy with a higher ceiling. As far as Wiggins, I think he will be a good wing but his limited offensive skillset and inconsistent motor makes it hard for me believe that he has the potential to be elite like Randle and Parker. Wiggins may be better than a guy like Parker defensively, but wings that are elite offensively seem to be valued more than those elite defensively (think Tony Allen vs James Harden). Like Randle, IMO Smart has also been overlooked. He is truly one of the most versatile prospects I have ever seen, and I really feel that if a team (like Orlando or Milwaukee) that needs a point guard has the 1st or 2nd pick, Smart should be considered… My point is I really think that the race to the top pick is alot closer than most people think. All of these guys are great prospects, and it will be exciting to see what happens between now and June.

Randle and Parker are the 2 guys expected to produce immediately..Those guys are so fundamentally sound, poised, smart and their game is so mature…

Alot of people are excited with Embiid and Wiggins..Their combination of athleticism, natural talent and skill is so intriging…Any team selecting in the top 5 this year will be very happy to land either Embiid,Randle,Parker,Wiggins or Exum…

In all honesty I don’t know who the best player from this draft will be. You got Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker and Joel Embiid who could all go 1st in the draft. And you got guys like Dante Exum, Julius Randle, Marcus Smart and Noah Vonleh (who has been skyrocketing up draft boards) who are great prospects who have star potential also. This is the only draft I can think of where you could possibly have a franchise changing pick in the first 7 spots.

the guy who cant shot and doesnt have good handles? interesting..

i wouldnt touch smart with a top 7 pick in this draft, too many questions with his game. from what im seeing,he cant be an NBA PG. he’s more of a 2 but he’s undersized and doesnt have a good jumper. he’s a real good defender though but other than that i dont like him.
