jaysmith1987ParticipantThe first step I think for the bobcats to get back on the right track is to get lucky and draft Anthony Davis if he is not available I would go with MKG or Thomas Robinson. In free agency I think they need to fork up the money for OJ Mayo I think this guy can get you a legitimate 20 points plus per game taking the pressure off a rookie to be the go to scorer right away. I think Mayo is just looking for the right situation were he can get he his shots and be the man again. Next Id trade DJ Augustin for a spot up shooter or rebounding big man. A few years and this team could be right back on track.

mgreener_34ParticipantIf they don’t win the lottery then the Bobcats franchise will be devastated. Davis would really give them a player to build around. With that being said if they don’t get the first pick then they should draft Kidd-Gilchrist like you said, and look to draft a athletic, defensive minded team with him and Biyombo. I’m not to sure about Kemba going forward, but if he can score at a good clip then he might be servicable.
C- Bismack
Pf- Thomas
SF- Kidd-Gilchrist
SG- Henderson
PG- Kemba
Not to bad going forward, but they could really use someone who could score the ball. But Anthony Davis would really change that team

Snatalini247ParticipantThe Bobcats have to get anthony davis, this team is absolutely atrocious…
C- Mullens/Biyombo
PF- Davis/Thomas
SF- Maggette/Brown
SG- Henderson/ FA? maybe like jodie meeks?
PG- Walker/ FA? kirk hinrich?
wouldnt be a bad start, when i look down the list of free agents i find it really hard for the bobcats to sign decent role players that would want to go to better competing teams since they already know they wont be started and wont make alot of money i would see why being on the bench in charlotte would be the last thing any free agent would one, though i do see why a guy like OJ mayo would want to come in to be the main guy… you would think a polarizing figure like michael jordan would be able to attract better free agents
then after this year and another low finish how about a guy added in the early lottery like james mcadoo or cody zeller, even crazier imagine if the bobcats got back to back first overall picks and ended up with shabazz muhammad as well as davis, now that would be a heck of a team in 2015

ZeeProfessorParticipantThey should sign Michael Beasley or OJ Mayo in free agency. I’d go with Beasley because small forward looks like their weaker position right now seeing as they have Henderson at shooting guard who is a decent role player.
Beasley could put up 20+ points a game on the team as a starter and be the go to guy like he was in Minnesotta last season.

Charlie SheenParticipantWin the Lottery
Draft Anthony Davis in Round 1, Kris Joseph(glue guy) in Round 2
Trade DJ Augustine and Reggie Williams to the Knicks for Landry Fields(glue guy) and Josh Harrellson(glue guy)
Trade Tyrus Thomas to Washington for a 2nd Round Draft Pick- addition by subtraction
Amnesty Maggette if his contract isn’t up anyway
Sign OJ Mayo, Michael Beasley and Greg Oden also a vet PG Andre Miller
Charlotte’s Core for the next 5 years
Anthony Davis-Michael Beasley-Greg Oden-OJ Mayo-Kemba Walker
Kris Joseph-Landry Fields-Bismack Biyombo-Gerald Henderson-Andre Miller-Josh Harrellson
Head Coach- Ron Adams, Current Chicago Bulls Assistant Head Coach

RICO 1981ParticipantYou would think that David stein would hook Mike up for all the attention he brought to the league, on another note I love charlotte as a city, the women a nice in every way.

TruettParticipantThe only problem is that DJ is a RFA this year so he doesn’t have much trade value, so you prob just let him walk, but I think you gotta get rid of Thomas quickly and maybe Magette too… The Bobcats stink so bad though that they may not be liquid enough to afford amnestying Magettee and then filling his salary with another player. I like the Idea of targeting some of these RFAs that are being cast aside from other teams. I think most of them are headcases, but if the organization handles them correctly they might be able to turn around their careers… I wanna see jordan’s face when the Hornets win the lottery because they really need Davis on that squad. Hopefully Biyambo will turn into a NBA player next year.
Honestly, Even if they do nail this draft, they are probably going to be bad for a few more years, and if they whiff… who can tell..

HitsterParticipantMaggette, Carroll and Diop are all expiring contracts next season so coud have trade value. Tyrus Thomas has very low trade value at the moment unless they accepted someone like Blatche back in return so he maybe has to be amnestied or allowed to play and hope he finds form to at least get his trade value up a bit as his contract begins to run down.
The Bobcats are well below tax level so amnestying anyone would not really help them and I don’t see MJ wanting to take on extra salary and do an amnesty to get picks back. MJ has to run Charlotte like a business as he has sank a lot of money into it and maybe running a low cap and trying to build via the draft he sees as the best way forward.
For the biggest modern legend in the game, MJ has never really been able to recruit a top FA which is a bit surprising.
Obviously Davis would be the ideaal guy for them to get but if not then one of Robinson,Barnes or MKG would be a fairly solid pick.
I like the idea of adding one of Mayo or Beasley depending on who they draft, with one of those two, a top four draftee plus Walker, Henderson and Biyombo, its a decent core going forward.
The Bobcats will most likely struggle next season, anything above 15-20 wins would probably be seen as overachieving but they can lay the foundations and with another high pick next year then look to move on.
They have to be wary as they owe a pick to Chicago which is only top 10 protected in two years time and unprotected by 2016 so they do need to start improving within the next couple of years.
They do have a pick due from Portland but that is top 12 protected through to 2015 and Portland are much further on than Charlotte so that is only limited compensation.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantAnthony Davis is key and would be a difference maker in improving the Bobcats right away and for long term but realistically teams with the worst record rarely get the number 1 pick. I think the bobcats will get the 3rd or 4th pick. With this in mind I think Jordan is going to draft Barnes. We need a scorer and plus the Carolina connection is there. Also MKG is a better prospect, but he gets a lot of Gerald Wallace comparisons and the bobcats already had Wallace and traded him away so I don’t understand why they draft a player they basically already had. I think after that like someone mentioned earlier try and go after OJ Mayo and Greg Oden in the off season. This team slightly resembles the 2010 Bobcat team that made the playoffs when they had Tyson Chandler, Diaw, Gerald Wallace, Stephen Jackson and Ray Felton.
2012-2013
C: Greg Oden/Tyrus Thomas
PF: Bismack Biyombo
SF: Harrison Barnes
SG: OJ Mayo/Gerald Henderson
PG: Kemba Walker/DJ Augustin

WereadyBParticipantOnly way bobcats will be good if the world ends and they survive to be the only NBA team left. Long as Jordan is the face of that team they will Neva be good again.

jmarg25ParticipantI think Bobcats fans need to realize that they will not become a good team next year when Anthony Davis comes along. Their rebuilding process will take a long time, and the Bobcats will have to draft well consistently for the next couple of years. I also see a lot of guys saying the Bobcats should sign Andre Miller or another solid free agent, but who would want to play in Charlotte that bad?

The QParticipantIf you have the defense they’d have with Biyombo and Davis, if they coudl convince just one max type elite wing player to come they’d become a very dangerous team IMO. Not to say they’d become a good team right away, but with soem improved offense from the small guys they could become a pain in the neck to play while they develop more depth.

imahustla1Participantwhay not pick up gerald green in the off season. he could be that athletic wing scorer they need!

Johnny ChillBB and AD would be the worst offensive frontline in history of basketball.
I dont like that combo at all. The Bobcats need a post player that can get them a 1on1 bucket.

The QParticipantDavis can learn the 1 on 1 game. He’s got a soft touch and length.
Biyombo is so far gone offensively I think he might as well focus on being a Ben Wallace type.
They’ll also grab every rebound on defense and a ton on offense.

Ghost01ParticipantDavis can learn the 1 on 1 game. He’s got a soft touch and length.
Okay, but a soft touch and length have nothing to do with a 1 on 1 game. I loved Chad Ford’s recent Chat, where he said "Davis is a better offensive player than people think" and "Davis has a better jump shot than people think"Two things made me laugh,1. Wouldn’t a sure fire/no doubt Number 1, with "franchise player" written all over him, not have the label "Better offensively than people expect"?2. What does Chad mean? We’ve all seen Davis play…does he hide his offensive skill set for private 1 on 1 sessions with Chad?0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/22/2012 - 6:19pm #662841
PulseGlazerParticipantThis team needs help basically everywhere. I doubt they get the #1 pick, but fully expect Robinson to be a Cat. That and Biyombo is a nice frontline, with Kemba and Wallace. That leaves a need for 3, and a better than replacement level bench would be nice. Beasley makes almost too much sense, but more than anything, this team needs a real coach. Nate McMillian’s phone should be BLOWN UP by Cho.
