OhCanada-ParticipantIn his search for a basketball coach, UNLV athletic director Jim Livengood said he is working around the clock and considering several candidates. His conclusion could be coming soon.
Former UNLV players Dave Rice and Reggie Theus are each receiving strong community support. It appears the leading candidate is Rice, who met with Livengood over the weekend in Houston at the Final Four.
According to a source, former Indiana and Texas Tech coach Bob Knight, who retired in February 2008 and is working as an analyst for ESPN, has expressed interest in the UNLV vacancy.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantWTF?!! Bobby Knight & the city of Las Vegas? A Controversial coach in a Controversial city ? Knight’s style of play might turn off alot of today’s young players..Most of them dont see him as a motivator he really is..They see him as this old crazy tyrant…
UNLV have had 5 coaches since Tark was let go..They need some stability there…
Reggie did a nice job at New Mexico State earlier this decade… And he did a good job of recruiting while he was there….
His jersey is hanging in the rafters…And he’ll bring some excitement to the area…
