I don’t care how much success he had as a coach. The guy is a narcissistic prick and a disgusting human being. When questioned recently by Dan Patrick about the administration who led to his removal from Indiana, knight said "I hope they’re all dead". When he was informed that some of them were actually dead he showed no remorse for his statement and said "well the rest of them need to go".

Keep in mind that knight gave Indiana more than probable cause to fire him. He was given numerous chances to change his behavior and steadfastly refused to do so. He was verbally and physically abusive to players throughout his career. He was permitted to get away with things no other coach in America would.  He even choked one of his own players and was allowed to continue coaching. He never apologized for any of  his actions, and would always find a way to place the blame elsewhere. Despite that he is revered as a god at Indiana, he has refused to step foot on the university ever again because he holds a grudge against people that don’t even work there anymore.

I look at knight and see a sad human being. At one point I believe he legitimately did care about his players. However, over time his ego just took over and he became a prisoner of the persona he created. He is an egomaniac of the worst kind, a guy who demands respect from everyone but refuses to show respect for anyone. Its no surprise he is such an adamant trump supporter. We need to stop making excuses for this guy and just view him for what he is.

Bob Knight is a prick.  He has always been a prick.  He was such a great basketball coach that a lot of the crap he did at Indiana was largely ignored because he was winning basketball games.  Bob Knight was and always will be a terrible human being.  It’s sad because decades after he left Indiana he still has no humility or compassion for anybody or anything, so his quotes didn’t surprise me at all.
