No doubt the Hornets could use Anthony Davis, but Portland has two early picks and I’m thinking a deal here wouldnt necessarily be a bad idea for either team. A big call to trade the number 1 pick, but if Portland packaged their two lottery picks and someone like Batum, for Hornets #1 and a player or two (eg. Ariza & Jack) to make the cap work, I think each team would end up better off. Whats everyone think?

Blazers – Felton, Matthews, Ariza, Aldridge and Davis with Jack, Crawford, Babbitt, Hickson, Przybilla

Hornets –  Lillard (#6), Gordon, Batum, Ayon and Okafor with Vasquez, Bellinelli, Henry, Landry, #11

The Hornets would never trade the #1 pick.  It’s not often whenever you come across a guy like Anthony Davis.  They aren’t just going to throw that away for an extra lottery pick.  Even for Nicolas Batum, it is definitely not worth it.

No, Ive had the account a long time, a few years.

i just never post on here cos I have a job… and a life.

I need a new job though obviously if I am bored enough to think about implausible trades for two average teams..

The Hornets trading Gordon to the Wiz for the 3rd pick and drafting Davis at 1, MKG at 3 and Jones at 10 having the starting frontline from the wildcats is more likely to happen then the trade you just posted.

Except I had Drummond, Davis, and PJ3.  So it’s trading Gordon for Drummond.

It’s amazing how stupid some of these trade ideas are.

    How about a counter offer:

New Orleans Gets:  Nicolas Batum, #6 and #11th pick, and Portlands washing machine

Portland gets: Anthony Davis, Jarrett Jack, and Trevor Ariza

Very rarely do teams trade away the first pick and only when there may not be an outstanding candidate in the draft and certainly not to drop down to 6th for example. If NOH had not won the lottery and had been 2nd in the draft then maybe something like 2nd and 10th pick could have got them a chance at Davis or if Portland’s own pick had got into the top 3, that and the pick via NJ.

Charlotte would perhaps have to offer 2nd pick and a fully unprotected 2013 pick to even get a sniff at Davis.

I would take that trade if I’m NO. You get to pair 2 young studs on Gordon & Batum. You get rid of a bad contract in Ariza. Plus you can draft at 6, 10, 11. So you also get players like Lillard, Marshall, Zeller, Sullinger, Rivers, Lamb, Beal. Because honestly, I’m not sold on Anthony Davis being the next great thing.

Now I don’t know why Portland makes this trade. They have Aldridge at the 4 already. Maybe put him at the 5 and Davis at the 4 plus you get Ariza to fill. Batum’s hole. It’s not the worst trade but IMO its worse for Pirtland.
