laarethekingsParticipantOk the Blazers have been trying to upgrade the PG spot for years now
Jazz need wing players in the young mold.
How about this…
Blazers send Andre Miller and Batum and the 21st pick in the draft
for
Jazz send Devin Harris and the 12th pick back to Blazers.
Why the Blazers do it… They get the upgrade they want in Harris and move up 9 spots in the draft to 12… grab the guy that they LOVE in Kenneth Faried.
Why the Jazz do it…. Most likely going to take Knight at three… They get Miller as the Vet in the last year of his deal to help the young guy then Millers money comes off the books. They fill a need a SF with Batum. and still have a pick at 21.

BismarkBiyomboParticipantBatum is to valuable, in this weak draft he alone could be worth a top 10 pick, and they give up the 21 pick where most likely Faried would be available anyway, as a Blazers fan I don’t like it.

StewieStoneyParticipantYa know im not gonna lie I dont hate it. Although the Blazers are the biggest cock blockers toward the Jazz (see Wes Mathews and Paul Milsap), I would love Batum in a Jazz uni. that would work IF Utah takes Knight at #3.

The White MambaParticipantThe Blazers really like Batum and i dont think hel be traded unless gives them a deal they cant say no too

Jazz_ItalyParticipanti don’t think this is going to happen
Jazz really don’t love the way Blazers did with Paul Millsap first and then with Wesley Matthews
btw, batum is a good player but is really inconstant while andre miller is too aged
in a draft like this the 21th pick is too low to give you something good, with 12th Jazz will pick Jimmer or Burks

laarethekingsParticipantEveryone keeps saying that Batum is too valuable. I’m just not seeing it.. The Blazers gave up two first round picks for Gerald Wallace then played him 35 mins a game. They still have Roy and Matthews and Rudy F as wings. They need a upgrade at the the PG spot bad.
For both teams the deal works great…
Blazers… Harris, Matthews, Wallace Aldridge and Camby with Roy, Rudy F, Oden and the ( 12th pick Faried/ Byiombo/ Thompson ).
Jazz… Miller, Hayward, Batum, Favors and Jerrerson… with Milsap, Okur, Knight , Miles, Bell and 21st pick.
Both teams look good.

Jlv2011I mean it’s not like Batum is untouchable. Blazers need some changes though.

bksmithParticipantAs a Jazz fan I take that trade in a heartbeat. I love Batum and Miller is a great expiring contract. My only worry in all of this is if the Jazz go after Kanter in the draft and not Knight.

danumanParticipantThe Jazz have ZERO interest in Andre Miller. They’re set to go forward with Harris as their point guard, regardless of who they draft this year. Harris’ contract is cap-friendly (2011-12 and 2012-13 remaining) and Miller would set the Jazz back significantly (no 3pt range, cannot defend quick guards).
Also – 3 things interfere with this deal:
1. Division opponent – most teams do not make deals that will come back to bite them 4-5 times a year.
2. Portland has been poaching or raising the price on Utah’s homegrown talent the past few years (Millsap and Matthews). Utah won’t make deals with them on principle.
3. Miller doesn’t want to return to Utah – has said so numerous times over the years that he’s happy with the time spent but doesn’t want to follow in Stockton’s shadow.
So it’s not happening.

aamir543ParticipantNot a bad trade, but i only see this happening if the Blazers are convinced Faried will be gone by 21. Batum is a good young player, but the Blazers tout him as an untouchable superstar, so unless they see a golden opportunity, they wont surrender Batum

CalipariParticipantIf I’m the Jazz then I jump all over this, but I can’t see the Blazers pulling the trigger on this deal. They absolutely love Batum, and actually turned down a Batum for #3 pick deal with Minny last year. If they love Harris and are confident in Roy’s health (though no one is right now), then maybe they do this. It would allow Gerald Wallace to start, and they Blazers would have a formidable starting five, even if Oden doesn;t make a glamorous return. There is definetely benefit for both, it really just depends on the direction of the Blazers, because they LOVE Batum.

fj84utu389tu5ParticipantTake away the #12 pick and you (MIGHT!!)have a deal.
