laarethekingsParticipantI’ve been hearing some people saying that Blake is going to be a all right pro but nothing big. I don’t get it… Kid put up 30 Double-Doubles at OU thats one bhind the all time lead… He does all the things that you want him to do… block, rebound, stay under the basket and clean up missed shots. People were saying how good
Michael Beasley was last year coming out… but they hate on blake for a so so draft class… Tim Duncan draft class sucked but he truned out ok i would say…. I think what I’m trying to say is….If you could pick Griffin or Beasley who would you go with…. I’m taking Griffin and not looking back!

Adi JosephGriffin is an ideal fit for the NBA power forward position while Beasley will struggle to fit either forward position. Don’t get me wrong, a tweener with as much ability as Beasley will still end up being a very good player – look at Carmelo Anthony – but Griffin will likely end up the better player.

laarethekingsParticipantBeasley has James Worthy game if he want to do all the little things… I see him as SF that can play 8 to 12 min’s a night as a PF… Always could get 20 and 8 to 10 rebs a night if he wanted to… just dont think he does… thats why I like Blake… you want guys who are going to play hard all the time…just dont see htat in Mike B.

auberParticipantHands down Michael Beasley. People forget how good this kid is/was and what’s in front of him.

jojososaParticipantHave to say mike b, he has a better skill set than blake and im confident if he is moved to tha 3 he wuld will have a coming out party dis year, u can’t 4get tha heat didn’t use him that well

rhbispParticipantBeasley’s got more talent, and was clearly better when they were freshmen in the same conference. Mike was more dominant in college than Blake or Durant. That said, Griffin’s work ethic and size will almost guarantee that he’ll be an all-star power forward. I see Beasley as a SF that can be a great rebounder if he wants to. He’s more versatile than Blake and has more hall of fame potential, but I’ll take Griffin because his game is almost as good and he seems like a better teammate.

KevinDurantRocksParticipantDurant- Griffin- Beasley
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 9:56am #183915
KevinDurantRocksParticipantDurant and Beasley so i threw him in. Beasley doesn’t have the work ethic the other two have. What do you think these three players will do in the league next year?

D HampParticipantI would take Beasley if he can put his attitude in check.
Dhamp…the new Hubie Brown

Adi JosephI firmly believe all three will have at least a couple All-Star seasons.
If I were to guess, I would say Beasley has a career path similar to Jamal Mashburn’s.

juves4783Participanti’m watching the clips play the hornets on a replay on nba tv. i’m really impressed with blake griffen’s passing and ball handling. i have to say he is going to cause a lot of slower pf’s a lot of problems. i think the mere fact that blake griffen understands he is a pf and has a solid skill set and athleticism for that position, he has to have the edge over beasley. i don’t think beasley has the foot speed to keep up with sf’s of the league and he seemed out of place at pf.

JNixonParticipantBeing a huge K-state fan I want to say Beasley, but Griffin seems like a potentially outstanding player. I think Beasley is a combo forward, but he is a mismatch because of his size. He will be a good, effective player; but I think Griffin will be that much better.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 10:47am #183930
maravich44ParticipantThey will both have very good careers. Griffinwill be a little better. He has a position. Beasley is very good but is a tweener which will hurt him on defense. I would take him though without question. What he lacks on defense, he will make up for on offense, and he will rebound.

Stanford hoopsParticipantnot under standing the work eithic thing when miami and kansas state coach said he has a very good work eithic..the only thing with beasley is he likes to play around a tad too much (was like that back when he played with the d.c assult team).i dont think the three will be a hard postion for him to transition too because thats what he played in highschool and aau. As far as who will be better i think beasley has the better talent by far but blake does go harder more consitantly, both will be all stars but i think beasley will have the better career
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 12:01pm #183950

sheltwon3ParticipantI think Blake already knows his position and that will help him develop better early on than Beasley but the thing is Beasley upside is so huge so it is hard gauge how good he will be but early I will say Blake but Beastly could jump and overtake him in like 2 or 3 seasons.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 12:09pm #183958
MattissickParticipantIf given the same minutes, Beasley will put up better numbers, but Griffin’s team would win more because he tries harder and they are both outstanding rebounders but Griffin is a little better.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 12:11pm #183959

llperezBeasley will put up big numbers, but Blake is a better rebounder, defender, and passer. Also, Beasley is a tweener. I would rather build my team around Blake anyday. His numbers might not be better then Beasley’s, but his impact on the game will be.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 12:12pm #183960
j1232eParticipantin my opionion griffin will be a superstar. he will me one of the top power forwards in just a couple seasons.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 12:15pm #183962
darko4prezParticipanthave more talent? He has more range and ball-handling ability, but he needs that because he plays on the perimeter more. Griffin, imo, is a better rebounder, defender, passer and will score a lot even before he masters the post, ala D Howard. Beasley will avg 20 and 8 but never win because he can’t play d.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 1:04pm #183999
thatdude44ParticipantI would take griffen any day, he never stops and goes hard all the time… beasly seem like he does just enough to talked about
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 1:18pm #184011

IndianaBasketballParticipantThis is easy for me. I’m going with Blake Griffin, though he hasn’t even played a NBA game yet. I’d choose Griffin every time. Griffin is everything we THOUGHT Michael Beasley would be.
Griffin is a TRUE power forward who can handle the ball and eventually be able to extend his range out to the 3-PT line. He has the height, strength, athleticism and quickness to battle with the NBA’s elite power forwards. He has the work ethic and dedication. He is just NASTY in every sense of the word.
Beasley… Well he was SUPPOSED to be a true power forward, but measured way undersized than we all thought. He was supposed to be 6′ 10″, but only measured 6′ 8″. Beasley is your classic tweener. Not big or strong enough for the power forward, but not quick enough for the small forward. He’s also very immature… His work ethic has been questioned.
Beasley is talented and will be a very good scorer, but he’s not on the same level as Griffin.

billykParticipantI think over time Beasley will develop into a solid defensive player….
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 1:20pm #184018

JNixonParticipantBeasley is a bad defender, dont get me wrong. But you dont EVER think he will be a good defender? I mean he just makes inexperienced defensive mistakes, like losing awareness and giving up backdoors and making lazy closeouts. His defensive ability is something that can be corrected. And he has the tools to get it done. On top of that he has a coach in Spoelstra that preaches defense to it could come in time.

d-grizzlyParticipantgriffin.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 1:41pm #184032

IndianaBasketballParticipantBeasley is a TERRIBLE defender. TERRIBLE. He better get better real quick if they’re really considering starting him at small forward next season. That means he’ll be guarding LeBron, Paul Pierce, etc.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 2:08pm #184055
trueone313detroitParticipantThis is a hard choice since Mike B is a 3/4 and Blake is a 4/3/5 (Yes he will play small forward, he has enough perimeter skill to do so, he just never really used them because he is so much stronger then everyone guarding him).
In my eyes is coach ability and style of play. Mike be is more confident in his skill and has been allowed to play. He is used to being the main focal point of a team doing what he wants pretty freely. But Blake is better all around to me. He is bigger, taller, has a excellent post game and a good one on one defender. Ask NC and Tyler. Blake plays more of a team game which most people cant learn into later in their careers. Blake on the other hand is very coach able. He is willing to listen and alter his game to win. He keeps his teams involved into the game with out any drop offs in his production, verse beasley, whom cant do that as well. If a coach asks Beasley to change his game his production suffers. Also, Mike B Games Reminds me to much of Jamal Mashburn / Rodney Rogers type Player.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 2:38pm #184083
nthegoodlifeParticipantHe has great work ethic and will eventually come into his own. Beasley could be a nightmare for many teams to try and stop, but because he doesn’t fit a pf or sf, I believe he will never be a great to defender. So he may put up 25 (great O and polish), but I don’t see him ever stopping someone from doing the same to him. Not to mention he seems like a black hole, everytime I watch the Heat, Beasley will get the ball, and it seems like a guaranteed shot attempt is coming. I see Griffin at worst, with a few allstar games, and the potential to be the best PF in the game at some point in his career (potential is there).
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 3:18pm #184117
arc1212ParticipantBeasley to ME has more talent that griffin…maybe it’s not talent but he’s got a much more polished game
And so what if beasley is 6’8 and maybe 2 inches shorter than blake? Quit looking at height and saying he’s undersized and actually compare the players…does he play undersized? No most definitely not, so enough of that, and beasley could end up being an incredibly effective dual forward in the league and he has a 7 foot wingspan.
With all this being said we all realize beasley can be somewhat lazy in almost like a lamar odom type of fashion.
Griffin is an absolute hoss, very powerful and athletic with good ball handling skills and decents moves
Most importantly he’s a hustler…if i was picking someone to get me a rebound or play D for me it would be griffin but if i need a bucket i would take beasley but they’re both so good…and that’s not to knock griffin’s offense or beasley’s D0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 3:34pm #184130
BosteritoParticipantIm a heat fan, so I saw every game. Beasley is going to have a breakout year if he starts. THe few last season games he started were all double doubles. He can shoot from anywhere.
Blake Griffin is a beast, blocks shots, has no fear, good defense, etc.
This kind of reminds me of the D.Will-CP3 convo since one is stronger and a better body but the other has a little more skills. Im leaning towards Beasley in 1-3 years.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 4:35pm #184164

The8thDeadlySinParticipantIf Beasley would have stayed for a second year, how would this conversation be going?? Because both of them would have dominated college basketball and it would have been a three way race for POY award. Personally, i think it would have bennifited Beasley so he could have developed his outside game and been a HOSS for his team. It could have possibly helped Griffin to have some pressure on him to be the best PF in the nation.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 5:09pm #184174

JNixonParticipantKstate wouldve been ridiculous if Beasley wouldve came back. The reason they didnt get to the tourny was because of a lack of post scoring and rebounding. Beasley wouldve made us a Sweet 16 team at the very least, Id say.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 6:10pm #184228

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI agree. I would have loved to see OK and Kstate Face off with Beasley and Griffin going head to head
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/19/2009 - 12:50am #184290

lalailaParticipantand I would say BEasley, why everyone talks about 20+8 it should be next season but not after 7-8yrs if he will without Wade he will avg 27-29ppg+10rpg..but on the other hand Beasley will be superstar but he could become another Zach(little better) and Griffins game looks like he is a player to build around, and he still haven’t play in the NBA, he should be 20/10 one day, but who knows with getting better range, more expierence ,maybe he is 25/13 guy? IT’S VERY DIFFICULT
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/19/2009 - 1:58am #184293
MasrockThis is a hard question to answer. Right now, I’ll take Blake. Beasley didn’t perform in the way I thought he would, even though you can blame it on being a rookie. It seems like he was the guy in the Top 5-10 picks of his class who did worse than people expected. Rose, Love, Mayo, Westbrook, Gordon, Lopez all exceded expectations. And they were all very young too. Beasley didn’t, even though he wasn’t horrible by any means. He just didn’t take that step up. No excuses.
