I don’t think there were very many doubters as to whether Blake Griffin would translate into a good pro, but Blake had a dominating first showing, he displayed a lot more versatile offensive game than a lot of people expected including knocking down a 3, I know its only one summer league game, but the fact that he is so NBA ready paired with his freakish athleticism, strength, and tenacity has to make him the favorite for ROY

He played one of the worst summer league teams. Morrison is the only guy on that team any ones ever heard of.

So, he is still a double double waiting to happen no matter who he plays against, He may not drop 27 and 12 on a better team, but that doesn’t negate his skill set, athleticism, etc… Maybe he would have only had 15 and 10 against a better team, that doesn’t make him a worse player becasue he tore up a bad team

i like evans for ROY. i just think it’s tons easier to put up big numbers as a point guard than as a power forward.

Thats true, but Griffin is a guy who will get shots for him self from offensive rebounding and hustle plays, IEvans may score more but i think Griffin will fill out a stat card more than Evans, with rebounds, blocks, steals rebounds, and shooting percentage

im not sure about blks with griffin yet because he still hasnt shown hes a shoot blocker..i think it wil lbe a tight race with evans probably winning it because he will also be rebounding and stealing and scoring and he has less talent around him so he will have to do more…i still say blake is the better player with the brighter future

It’s entirely too early to know who the top 5 for RotY will be. You won’t have a clue until about halfway through the season next year.

Griffin is the most NBA ready player in this class, Evans is a big strong combo guard, but its going to take him longer to adjust to the NBA game than Griffin will in my opinion especially if he is going to be playing some point guard this season for Sacramento. Griffin is the perfect size for an NBA power forward and has a true position he will flourish at. Don’t get me wrong i think Evans will be good, but for ROY Griffin just has to go in do what he does best and see what happens, he doesn’t have to learn a new position like Evans, Griffin will score more, rebound more, shoot a better percentage, and you are right josh huestis, Griffin isn’t a great shot blocker, but he’ll block more than Evans, I know its not the most daring prediction to pick the #1 pick as ROY, but i’ve watched this guy for years and he is more NBA ready than anyone in this draft

of course no one has a clue but does that mean we dont chat about it…if we went by how you are suggesting then we would have nothing much to talk about right now and this chat would be very boring dont you think

If Clippers sign AI, Griffin will not win the ROY award unless everyone else really suck. The Clipper underachieved. They have too much talent for Griffin to get anything other than average numbers unless he because best friend with BD and BD gives him a least 5 great passes to points every game. I see him as a 15 and 8 guy because you have Camby, Kaman, and even Jordan to grab boards. If AI is there you have him BD Eric Gordon who need shots. Evans is going to a team where he can impose his will on offense because outside of Martin they don’t have any strong offensive minded players. They have guys who can score but they don’t have guys that and automatic 20 plus scorers that will demand the ball.

Rebounder on the team already. If there is one thing he can do it is board. Do you see how well he handles the ball. I am certain BD is going to love playing with Griffin. Hopefully BD can stay healthy. Griffin was the best player in that class and he should be rookie of the year. I am not sold on that because of that summer league game, but because he has the most talent and is ready.

im not sure you are understanding though scout..yes he is the most talented but he might not get the most chances to put up better stats then someone like evans will..blake has to contend with camby, kahman, gordan, thortan, and baron..now compare that to what evans has to compete with

IMO Griffin has to be the favorite for ROY at this point. I mean, he’ll be getting starter minutes from day one (like Rose and Mayo did). He has a NBA body, strength and athleticism that even NBA vets wish they had. The Clippers are CRAZY about him and will give him every opportunity to showcase what he can do. It’s not hard to see that he’s a great rebounder already. I wouldn’t be surprised if he averaged a double double.

    I expect Griffin’s averages to be somewhere around 15-17 PTS, 9.5-10 REBS, 50-53% FG’s, 60% FT, 2 ASTS, 1 STL and 1 BLK.

I’m not sure if they’ll make the playoffs, but the Clippers are going to be much improved. I just don’t see how he doesn’t get the award.

I still can’t be persuaded. None of those guys you named are scorers except Thorton and he will play the 3. It is Blake’s team and the coach will make the players understand it like he should so he is ROY. It is simple to me. I hear you on Evans but Blake is going to get the shots.
