Does anyone else think that Blair ends up in Portland? With their roster, he would be a great addition IMHO & with all their picks, they shouldn’t have any trouble moving up to the 11-15 range to grab him.

If they don’t, who do they need in the draft? With all their ammo, they could probably get anyone they want outside of Griffin & with a pretty full roster I just can’t imagine them not making a move up at some point to grab that one guy that really fills a need. Thoughts?

Ha I have a strange feeling that Portland will attempt to move up and snag Rubio. The Blazers need a true PG, a star PG.

I could see that. They’d probably have to involve a third team though as I really doubt Memphis wants to move out of the top 10 (or so). Certainly not all the way back to Portland at 24, unless Portland really sweetened the deal.

They could probably get Mike Conley for less. They’d be dealing with the same team, and I gotta think it would enhance Oden’s game, which is exactly what the Blazers really need if they are going to be an elite franchise.

maybe 24th pick and Webster or Outlaw for a 10-15 pick.

Unless they move bayless, I’ve heard he is supposed to start this year, and I don’t see them trading him unless they find reason to do so….since they traded to draft him anyway. They need PF depth, and they love Blair as does OKC, I see them possibly giving up Outlaw or someone along those lines to secure Blair.

Coming from the local guy they’re not moving bayless but sergio rodriguez. They are not looking to trade up. In fact they’re trying get veteran players not younger players. They are not trading up in the draft because that requires trading webster or outlaw which isn’t that easy. Webster was injured the whole season and just signed an extension last summer and outlaw contract just got extended another year. If they’re moving up its only a couple picks higher so they can snag Hansbrough. Also the team does not want an 18 year old guard as their starter. Their goal this offseason is sign a veteran point guard like Andre Miller or Mike Bibby.

yeah blazerfan7 you probably know more about what Portland wants to do than I do but…..I think the Blazers have more than enough assets to trade up for Rubio. They need a true PG who can lead a team. Even though Rubio is 18 he has a ton of experience and could start right away. Bayless isn’t a true PG, he is a combo guard. Rodriguez is already on the trading block & Portland isn’t going to win a championship with Steve Blake running the show. I agree though they may sign a veteran PG. Andre Miller would be solid.

but trading up to get rubio will require a lot of key members of the team to get traded away. I don’t think the Blazers are willing to risk trading their team chemistry for one player that hasn’t proven himself in the nba level yet.

why would the Blazers want Blair? they already have Oden, Aldridge, and Frye, and Przybilla. They have enough big men as it is. They need a 2 or 3 to compliment or backup Roy. Something other than a big man

Frye is going to be let go so they will need a backup for Aldridge. They do not need a 3 since they have three small forwards in Webster, Batum, and Outlaw. Rudy Fernandez is Roy backup. In this draft Blazers are either getting a backup power forward, point guard, or best talent available.

Blazers wouldn’t have to trade away that many players to get the 2nd pick. Their team chemistry would improve with Rubio. A pass first player like Rubio playing with Roy, Aldridge, & Oden equals championship. Trade Rodriguez, Bayless, Outlaw, a 2nd round pick this year, a 2010 1st round pick for #2 & Mike Conley.

I do agree that we need to trade outlaw and rodriquez but no way we should trade Bayless yet. The guy hasn’t been given a chance to really play.

Why would they have to move a player to get up to get Blair – unless they wanted to? Wouldn’t a team like Indiana (or maybe New Jersey with no 2nd rounder) move their pick for a package of the 24th, 38th, 55th & 56th picks? Portland doesn’t need to bring in that many rookies & both of those teams could add some needed depth, or at the very least repackage some of those picks to position themselves for the players they do want.

Someone already answered, but I was thinking PF because with Frye gone, Portland could really use a wide-bodied glass-cleaner to platoon at the 4. Blair would be perfect.

Doesn’t sound like they’re going that way though – made sense to me anyway.
