M-DYMESParticipantVideo from the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Pro-Am
At the 4:00 mark, DeJuan Blair is shown and he looks pretty out of shape.
In other news, JJ Moore and Khem Birch looks like they will be beasts for PITT.

IndianaBasketballParticipantYea… He looks the same to me too.
He may be rusty, but it’s good to see he hasn’t packed on a ton of weight. Players like him are candidates to blow up during a lockout.

M-DYMESParticipantI’m not saying he looks huge, he just looks more like he did @ PITT as opposed to once he got with the Spurs.
Before the draft he really worked on his body and it showed…i think it helped his performance in the NBA drastically. To me it seems like he put on some weight, not anything unbearable, but it could be part of the reason he wasn’t as sharp. That and being away from the game.
But Blair was known around campus for enjoying home cooking and partying so it doesn’t surprise me.

NashyMingParticipantI think Blair gaining non-productive weight (fat vs muscle) was the big reason why he lost play time at the end of the season even when Popovich decided to lower Duncan’s minutes.
Blair was playing solid early in the season when he was more in shape, and eventually his out-of-shapeness caught up with him and pissed off Popovich. I think there were numerous instances where the Spurs coaching staffs mentioned displeasure about that.
If Blair isn’t careful and stay in shape during this lockout, he could be out of the league soon. He signed a 4 years deal at near minimum with the Spurs with 3rd and 4th years team options. I like Blair but he better not eat his way out of the league.

B FreeParticipantI know this was a Blair thread but in this economy we cant waste anything so I hope its ok im gonna talk about Birch alittle more..
If he can put on some weight and waeigh around 230 and has a good season I can see him being this years Tristan Thompson, a young big man with superior athleticisim and length and tons of potential and room to grow, I dont know if he has a comparison on here yet but I see him as mix between Thompson and Hakim Warrik. What do you think?

Memphis MadnessParticipantBlair didn’t play against the Grizzlies in the playoffs and I am guessing that Pop thought his weight was an issue. Blair needs to look more like Anthony Mason and less like Oliver Miller.
