Lotto StudParticipantWhen Walker declared for the draft who was his comparison on .net?
Back in HS some said he would be the next Vince Carter, but when I look at Walker I see a lot of Jerry Stackhouse in him. Although Walker had the knee injuries he still has a little bit of explosiveness to his game. I’m not saying it is like it was in HS, but he still can get up. I wish he would have been able to play his final year of HS ball with his class, because he missed out on a lot of exposure & fell under the radars, even though he was able to enroll at Kansas State. I’m quite sure if he never had the knee injuries to hold him back he would have been a Late 1st Round lock whenever he came out. I understand that Landry Fields has been ballin hard, but why isn’t Walker in the rotation? Walker got plenty of burn in his first year with New York, when he was acquired in the trade for Nate Robinson. I would hate to see him out of the league within a year or two. 3 knee injuries in his past is not a good look for his career.
What will his ceiling be?

theEDGEParticipantI think he could be the next Joe Johnson.
Johnson was stuck behind others as a young palyer in Phoenix and the Suns decided to let him go and sign with the Hawks.
Now look at him, and that could be Walker’s path too.

IndianaBasketballParticipantJoe Johnson? Lol.
Walker’s ceiling is just being a back end rotation player off of the bench. Give you some points here and there… A few dunks to get the crowd into it.
He’s really not that good. People seem to hold onto the high school memories of OJ Mayo and Bill Walker a little too tight.

Lotto StudParticipantWith that being said, how long does he last in the NBA?

johnecoParticipantThere’s no reason to think Bill Walker will fall out of the NBA. He’s a young player who is still improving, and he is currently in the rotation of the Knicks. He might be a borderline rotation player, but it’s not like he is the 15th player stuck to the bench.
He’s a good offensive player, who can dunk and hit 40% from 3. He needs to improve his defense and effort level.
BTW Joe Johnson was already a star when he left Phoenix.

romeeezybabyParticipantBy no means was Bill Walker ever considered "under the radar" when he was in High School. He’s always been in the national scene especially linking up with Mayo, the scouts definitely took notice early on. The duo led North College Hill to a state championship as sophomore’s. He was actually eligible to graduate early because he was a great student, and signed with Kansas State because of his relationship with Bob Huggins.

mikeyvthedonParticipantBill Walker, Potential? Kind of like "No Money Down", being "No, Money Down!". I think Bill Walker is a rotation player and his athleticism is solid, but was derailed due to his early knee injuries. He is certainly no Vince Carter and his inability to crack the Knicks line-up this year after playing a lot for D’Antoni the year before just shows that his future is not necessarily bright. Add to the fact he peed in a towel when he played us in college, and you get your answer that no, their is not much potential for Bill Walker. I think he will last for a while as a rotation guy on the back of the bench, but I never see him being a major reason for a teams success. Bill Walker almost possesses a certain Bogansosity (yes, I just made that up), in that if he is starting or contributing in a major way to your team, you really would like an upgrade at that position. Keith has had a pretty long career though, so I guess their is hope for Billy, though I honestly think Keith Bogans is the better player of the two.

AllStar Game BoundLOL STACKHOUSE!!! Stackhouse was a AllStar. And Walker wasn’t under the radar he was top 3-5 in his class, that’s not under the radar. Those who say Stackhouse must be talking about older Stackhouse

juice304ParticipantI think one thing that has kind of slowed Bill’s progress besides the injuries is the fact that in HS he was more of a post player. I only saw him play once in HS, but he played like a sawed off Amare(early in his career). He didn’t take one shot outside of 12 feet the whole game. Also at K-State he basically played the 4 most of the time. So I think Bill has worked hard on his game to become more of a 2/3 which is proven in his limited minutes by his 40% 3pt%. I think Bill will be a rotation player for 7-8 more years in the league but will probably be better off on a team that he can get more minutes. BTW i think the Bonzi Wells comparison is the closest one for Billy.

Lotto StudParticipantHe went under the radar as far as not being mentioned when he did not play his Sr. year in HS. No All-Star games & I compare him to Stack coming off the injuries not Stack in his prime.

JoeWolf1Bill Walker, huh? I bet this post origanted because of that dunk they were playing on sportscenter today, lol.
I think his ceiling is an 8th man who occasionally makes the sports center top 10. He’s a poor man’s J.R. Smith, not much of a defender, but an athletic wing who can put up some points.

sheltwon3ParticipantI actually think Knicks are hiding Bill Walker. I think they like him a lot and they don’t want to lose him and his very cheap deal in a trade. The Knicks could do a trade witn Denver giving up 3 players and a 1st round pick and still be alright. There are free agents they can pick up as well as trade Kelena Azubuike expiring contact for someone. The deal i saw before Denver started getting ridiculous would have Knicks losing Felton, Randolph, Chandler/Gallo, Curry. The Knicks would get back Melo and Billups. Walkers and Williams minutes will increase. Randolph and Curry were not really playing anyway. The trade doesnt hurt them that much except when Denver mentioned another player like Fields and then that is where the issue is. Knicks could bounce back from that trade too but it would be harder because they would lose too many people to replace on a short notice.

JoeWolf1sheltwon, I highly doubt the Knicks are "hiding" Bill Walker. Did you just get done watching a conspiracy theory docmentary on History Channel, lol. I’m just kidding, man, but the NBA has a ton of scouts whose job is to watch and track players. If guys like us know what Bill Walker can and can’t do on the court, I don’t think a team not playing a player in order to keep him would pull the wool over any NBA scout or assistant coaches’ eyes.

sheltwon3ParticipantThe NBA is about hype, you give General Managers too much credit. Randolph is just not a great fit for New York. Walker played great for them when he got minutes. Right now Walker is not getting any hype. Right now since he has yet to do much in actual games people will say he is talented but there must be some reason he is not playing. They will tend analyze and look at all the reasons about his game he is not playing. I could be wrong but if the Melo to New York deal goes down, you will see a lot of Walker and be wondering why he did not play more minutes earlier
