Knicksfan1ParticipantWhat kind of impact do u guys think he’ll have for the Knicks this season? I just was watching a replay of the Knicks summer leauge game vs the Lakers and he looks much quicker and explosive than last year in getting to the hoop. I think he’ll be a quality rotation player and average at least double figure scoring. Thoughts?

WillisWaltParticipantHe’ll be a solid rotation player and spot starter. Averaging double-digit points I’m not sure about but probably at least 8. He’s a good rebounder, too, so he should average 3 or 4 there, maybe more if he gets good minutes.
I agree that he looks quicker this year. He’s more healed and much lighter, so I guess he’d better be quicker. I think he’s going to be a real solid contributor this year, and steady, not sporadic. He’ll block a shot here and there, too.
He was defninitely the gem of the Nate Robinson trade, even if he wasn’t the reason for making it. By the way, it looks like Nate will re-up with the Celtics. I’d like to see that happen. I actually hate them less already. Nate did look good in Knick green!

ChrischiParticipantHe can run and finish, I think he could be a solid backup swingman

bishopm.dotParticipantI’m definitely a fan. He’s had all the physical tools, I hope he is able to put it all together. I’ve been a fan ever since Kansas St. This is a great system for him to use his athletic ability. I hope he gets a shot. I want my knicks to come back!

Raef LaFrentzParticipantHere’s what I had to say about Walker after watching that Summer League Game:
“I really like Bill Walker. Watching him today, yeah he didn’t that good of a game at all, but it’s not hard to see his improvements.
Shooting form- Yes, it’s unorthodox. But he can make jumpers at an above average rate, and his range has vastly improved from when he first entered the League. Clearly getting more lift on his shot as well.
Ball Handling- Still is a little sporadic with his handle, but has the ability to face up and take his opponent to the rack. Match that with his strength, athleticism and finishing ability; not a bad combination to have. Today Denver’s defense was great and they collapsed every single time Walker drove to the hole, causing a few fumbles and turnovers. With more shooters on the floor (Gallo, etc.) real defenses would have to stay a bit more honest.
Attitude- Always humble, always hungry, always himself. He doesn’t kid himself and try to portray himself as a guy who has “made it.” He knows that he has to work to succeed and he’s shown the determination to put the time in. Always plays hard, and sometimes his ferocity gets the best of him, i.e. 9 player fouls, a flagrant foul along with a technical today.
Overall, I really like this young guys chances. He’s had the chance to watch how to be a professional when he was a member of the Celtics, and I think that he’s going to continue to want to prove himself at a high level. With his improvement, weight loss, and maturation as a person and player I can see Walker playing a big role off of the Knicks’ bench this season and potentially starting if they end up shipping Chandler out of town.”
