DanEboyParticipantIt looks like the Illini just stole an at large berth from either the ACC, Big East, or Big12 with their win vs Wisconsin.
They almost blew it though late. Trevon Hughes, who was 0-11 at one point, scored 9 points in 30 seconds to pull them within 3. Then he fouled out with 24 seconds to go….doh!
Exciting finish nonetheless.

knicksfan7ParticipantI think Illinois took Virginia Tech’s bid with there win over Wisconsin.

DanEboyParticipantI think Va Tech is safe. I think either G Tech or Wake should be worried

knicksfan7ParticipantI disagree about Virginia Tech being safe their SOS is way too high (132) to be considered safe. GTech and Wake Forest are 100 spots lower in SOS, and both have higher RPIs.

knicksfan7ParticipantWake Forest has wins over Gonzaga, Xavier, Richmond, Maryland, Georgia Tech, and Clemson I believe they’ll be in, just get upset in round 1 or lose pending on seed.
Georgia Tech has wins over Siena, Duke, Wake Forest, and Clemson.

DanEboyParticipantG Tech finished 7-9 in the ACC while Va Tech finished 10-6. Wake has lost 5 of their last 6.

knicksfan7ParticipantYes, but the committee looks at the whole season’s work, and both Wake and GT have higher RPIs and SOS’s than Virginia Tech, so if the committee only had to take two of the 3, Va Tech may be the odd one out. Though I believe it is Wake because they don’t impress me, and just don’t compete well against the best competition.

McWinningParticipantMinnesota’s my sleeper. They have the talent to win the whole tournament.

DanEboyParticipantThey will need to if they want to get a bid. They have been a disappointment this year.

knicksfan7ParticipantI actually think with Virginia Tech losing it may help the winner of Florida/Miss. State game.

JNixonParticipantGA Tech is SOL if they lose to Maryland, which is a shame because they have the talent to be a Sweet 16 team. Just poor coaching and too much confusion.
Wisconsin almost came back. I thought if Illinois would’ve lost the game, they should’ve fired Bruce Weber. lol. But when Hughes went out that was the thing that definitely killed them. They had no clutch shooters.
Illinois probably just took GA Tech out of the tourny…

knicksfan7ParticipantIllinois did not take Georgia Tech out of the tournament considering that Georgia Tech is still playing tonight, and if they beat Maryland then it could be Virginia Tech or Wake Forest who may not be playing in the dance.

JNixonParticipantThat’s why I said if GA Tech loses to Maryland, which I think they will, they are out of the tourny.
