JNixonParticipantCincy:
Yancy Gates- Big bodied 6’9 265 lb post man at the PF spot…Knows how to score without the ball…Has a (wildly inconsistent) jumper with range to the college 3…Good turnaround jumper down low…At his best, he can mix power and finesse moves down low…Shaky rebounder for his size…Can disappear for stretches of games…Gets out of shape…Has yet to really put it all together…
UConn:
Kemba Walker- Extremely confident, charismatic PG…Super quick and athletic…Looks outstanding on D often times…Has promising leadership skills…A slasher…Tough..Pretty good passer in the drive and dish…Very shaky shooter right now…Gets out of control…Not very strong and has a pretty small frame (6’0 180)…Inefficient…He’s a likely mid-1st round pick in 2011. T.J. Ford comparisons
Alex Oriakhi- Rugged 6’9 PF who isn’t a talented scorer or offensive player…Good rebounder and post defender…Nice length and athleticism…High motor..Has to be set up around the rim to score…Needs time, but he’s a 2012 or 2013 prospect.
Jamal Coombs McDaniel- 6’7 SF can handle the ball and has some all-around skills…Good athlete….Length and quickness help him on D some…Not strong and lacks a very consistent shooting stroke..2012 or 2013 prospect, but he has a raw game that could be well-rounded with time…Chris Douglas-Roberts potential
G’Town:
Austin Freeman- Great shooter…Extremely efficient too…More than a spot-up guy too for what its worth…Has Paul Pierce-like body fat, but with much less length and a 6’4 frame..Lacks athleticism, quickness, and handles…Low defensive potential..Could have a chance, but he’s a long-shot NBA guy
Chris Wright- 6’1 PG with good slashing skills..Nice strength and decent athleticism…OK shot, but not much range…Good D…Not a pure playmaker, but good enough to be a PG…3 ball could improve…This Sr year is big, but he’s not a surefire NBA player
Jason Clark- Quick 6’2 wing with long arms…Pretty good shooting stroke…Plays good D…Can run in transition…Nice athleticism…6’2 swingman, which is weird to say the least…Not a good ball-handler at 6’2..John Thompson III compared him to Allen Iverson….Not quite my friend, not quite…Could have a minor breakout next year
Louisville:
Peyton Siva- Love this 6’1 PG’s talent…Very nice shot…Great athlete with a flashy game fans love…Makes truly dazzling slashes and finishes at the rim…Good handles and passing skills…Can be TO prone…Not a good defender, which kept him off the floor a bit as a FR…Not a natural playmaker, but he’s no slouch either…Should make big strides next year…2012 1st round prospect
Terrence Jennings- Skinny 6’11 PF who has to be set up at the basket to score…Great athlete with high-level quickness for his size…EXTREMELY raw on both ends…Needs time, but he has some upside…Should produce more with Samuels gone
Marquette:
Jimmy Butler- Very good athlete…Prototypical size for a SG/SF at 6’7 220…Can slash to the rim some…Can rebound from the wing…Work in progress as a shooter, but is decent spotting up…Rarely ever takes bad shots…Nice D….SLEEPER PROSPECT for 2011
Darius Johnson-Odom- Strong 6’2 guard with a nice left-handed shooting stroke..Good athlete…Defends like you’d expect a Marquette guy to…Not a PG…Has mediocre handles for a guy his size…He’s a 2012 or 2013 guy…Has a developed offensive game
Vander Blue- Very athletic guard with high-level defensive skills…Can play both guard spots…6’3 without much PG skills…Can slash to the rim…Needs to improve shot..Seems like a 3 or 4 year guy
Jamail Jones- SLEEPER freshman…Great athlete with an NBA body as a freshman (6’6 200)…Pretty good shooter…Can slash to the rim in straight-lines..Plays strong D…Needs to improve his handle…You heard it here 1st, he will be a highly-discussed 2012 prospect
Pitt:
Ashton Gibbs- His shot is cash…Really can get his shots of in different ways…Comes through in the clutch and shoots with confidence…Won’t miss many free throws…Should be a darkhorse All-American pick…At 6’2 he’s a SG which limits his NBA upside..Not a very good ball-handler or athlete…Or slasher…Not likely to pass much…Decent on D, but limited potential on that end….2013 guy…
Gilbert Brown- Athletic 6’7 wing player with shooting skills….Will dunk on you or stick a jump shot in your face…Likes to pull up off the bounce…Very good defender who can defend 4 positions in college…Inconsistent…Not much ball-handling past about 2 or 3 dribbles…Will get looks in Summer League and possibly Portsmouth.
Gary McGhee- Intimidating post presence…Very strong and scary looking…Hard to back down in the post…Contests everything…Not likely to score much…Low skill level…Doesn’t run the floor very well and is not quite athletic…Has developed into a prospect over this summer with his post D
Dante Taylor- Athletic and raw PF with upside…6’8 220 with a massive frame to get bigger…Has developing face-up skills..Seems lazy…Chris Taft 2.0?
Rutgers:
Dane Miller- 6’6 swingman with nice upside…Good athlete with long arms…Can defend…Decent handles…Needs to greatly improve his jump shot and basketball IQ…Long term prospect with some talent
Seton Hall:
Jeremy Hazell- 6’5 volume scorer with the ability to go on game-changing hot streaks on the floor…Good shooter…Can make pull-up jumpers from mid-range…Average athlete and ball-handler…Selfish and a bit of a chucker….Defense? ha…..Morris Almond clone?
Jeff Robinson- 6’8 combo forward with freakish athleticism…One of the best athletes in the nation…Not a shot-creator…Can’t do anything other than score off of rebounds/loose balls and in transition..
Herb Pope- A wide-bodied 6’8 PF who really isn’t all that talented…Crazily good rebounder, especially offensively…Has soft shooting touch…Long arms…Plays like a 6’8 C…Lacks athleticism…Not a great scorer in the post…Has legit character concerns…A 2nd round 2011 prospect now.
South Florida:
Gus Gilchrist- Big 6’9 245 PF…Likes to face the basket and shows nice shooting ability at his size…Shows a nice turnaround jumper down low and will flash other moves at times too…Needs polish…Mediocre rebounder…Not into playing post D…Only looks to pass the ball as a last resort…Has talent and upside, but he’s a 2012 prospect.
St. Johns:
D.J. Kennedy- Athletic 6’6 guy who plays strong D…Can make open jumpers…Good passing skills…Rebounds well from the wingCan play and defend all 3 perimeter spots..Looks good in transition…Not a great ball-handler…Late 1st-early 2nd round pick in 2011…Mikael Pietrus comparison
Syracuse:
Kris Joseph- Like this guy alot…Can handle the ball and has some raw point-forward skills at 6’7….Very great athlete…Long frame…Excellent defensive and rebounding potential on the wing…Not a good shooter yet…Can be TO prone…Good passing skills…Late lotto to mid 1st rounder when he comes out….Plays a bit like Stacey Augmon to me
Fab Melo- 7’0 285 lb C with huge defensive presence…Will be a shot-blocker…Has huge potential…Can face-up a little and post on O…Has a good low post game already, but it needs polish…Needs time to reach potential…Comparable to Brendan Haywood
Scoop Jardine- Fun to watch PG 6’1 who plays a shifty, herky jerky style…Shows good passing skills and handles…Not likely to make a bad pass…Confident…Good spot-up shooter, and solid from mid-range…Not athletic or very quick…Will take risky shots at times..
Rick Jackson- Bullish 6’9 240 PF…Fights to carve out space…Pretty good shot-blocker…Long arms…Not a talented offensive player, but can score if set up right…Great rebounder…Physical, but also a bit foul prone…Will miss easy shots at times…Still, could be a Ronny Turiaf type in the NBA if everything goes right
Brandon Triche- At 6’4 has nice size and strength…Can score a little…Will make open shots…OK athlete…Not a PG at all really right now…Long-term prospect
Villanova:
Corey Fisher- Great athlete with explosive quickness…Aggressive slasher…Can score off the bounce…Pressure defender…Not a natural PG at 6’1…Looks more natural when creating for himself…Gets wild and inefficient alot of times…Not a great decision-maker yet…Mediocre shot…
Dominik Cheeks- A wing shooter with upside and good athleticism at 6’6…Looks like T.I….Plays solid D…Needs to get stronger and improve his handle to take the next step…
Maalik Wayns- 6’0 combo guard…Terrific speed and strength with the ball in his hands…Likes to push the ball aggressively in the open floor…Can apply pressure on the ball on D…Only OK PG skills…Averaged more TO’s than assists last year…Plays wild a bit…
Yarou- A 6’10 banger..Has the potential to rebound and defend well down low…Good athlete with great strength..Surprisingly decent mid-range shot when left open…Raw offensive player right now, but he doesn’t have a high skill-level anyway…Long term guy
West Virginia:
Kevin Jones- A mismatch PF who is the most energetic player in all of college basketball IMO…Has long arms…Great offensive rebounder…Not a big talent…Makes open jump shots…Can post some PF’s…Late 1st or early 2nd round 2011 guy…

Da1potParticipantGood list, but you don’t think that Gilbert Brown will be drafted? Watch out for Jason Clark and Hollis Thompson at G’Town. They both have decent nba potential. Dante Taylor is from my area and I’ve seen him play some, he is pretty lazy and lacks commitment but has all the natural athleticism and gifts in the world….
BTW this is a really down year prospect wise fo the big east. There are only two surefire first rounder on this entire list(Kemba Walker and Fab Melo) for this years draft, though I do also think Corey Fisher will be a first rounder, too. Siva and Wayns have a lot to prove to me this year….
I also like Mouphtaou Yarou’s potential. He actually has very good footwork uncommon in a college player from playing soccer when he grew up. I was expecting him to be better last season but he was slowed by hepatitis for most of the season and on a very guard-heavy scoring team. Unlike Dante Taylor, he is a very hard worker…..

midwestbbscoutParticipantthey will just stick around until their stock is too high to pass up….they have 3 years to slot themselves so it shouldn’t be that hard….

I’d be very surprised if he was drafted.

JNixonParticipantAlso, I could see Yarou slipping to the 2nd round easily if he declares after this season. He’s not good enough to be a written in stone 1st round no matter what people. And nor is Wayns.

Lotto StudParticipant6’1” is very generous for Siva I say more so 5’10”.
I wish Scoop Jardine would develope himself into a NBA prospect, but I just don’t see it.
Whenever Kevin Jones decides to come out he will be a 1st round pick IMO.
Excellent T.J. Ford comparison for, Kemba "slice" Walker. He will be the most underrated PG in the years draft class.
