Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipant2016 curry: 30.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 6.7 apg, 2.1 spg, 50.4/45.4/90.8 shooting splits, 34.2 mpg, 31.5 PER
1. Led NBA in scoring and steals
2. NBA record 402 3s (previous record was 286)
3. Unanimous mvp (first time in league history)
4. 73 wins (most in NBA history)
2017 Westbrook: 31.9 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 10.4 apg, 1.7 spg, 42.6/34.4/84.5 shooting splits, 5.4 turns, 34.8 mpg, 30.8 PER
1. 42 triple doubles ( most in NBA history)
2. First guard since Oscar Robertson to average double digit rebounds
3. First player to average 30/10/10 in 55 years
4. Led thunder to playoffs despite no other all-star level talent on roster
Both seasons were historical. So which one was more impressive to you and why?
For the record I’m going with 2016 curry. The raw volume of stats Westbrook put up this year was mind-boggling but the way curry was able shoot such a high percentage on such a high volume of difficult shots was unprecedented. The 73 wins has to count for something as well.

JDB12ParticipantBoth seasons were so historic and unbelievable I think it just comes down to knitpicking and personal preference. With that said, things you can knitpick about Westbrook’s season is the 5.4 turnovers per game and less than ideal shooting percentages at 42% from the field and 34% from three. Granted if you put Curry in the same situation as Westbrook he would likely average a couple more turnovers per game and lower shooting percentages. But when trying to knitpick Curry’s 2016 season, there is very little to knitpick. Like Dazzling Dunks said, 402 threes at 45% with probably half of them being contested and/or off-balance is crazy. I know a lot of people would disagree but I believe that he is the only player in the league capable of making more than 325 threes in a season even with how three-happy the league is. Dame and Harden are probably the only other players who could possibly do it because of how many threes they take and how much the ball is in their hands, but they would need to shoot WAY more efficient. Not trying to take anything away from Russ’ historic season, but I’m going to give the slight nod to Steph’s 2016 season. But it can go either way.

jjj10manParticipantIt’s not even close Steph.
And Magic averaged 18.6/9.6/9.5 lets just act like we don’t always round up stats so we can say Westbrook has the first triple double since Oscar. Also very likely that Wilt and Russell would have averaged a triple double if blocks were recorded.
Steph was far and away the best shooter all time and there was no one who could debate otherwise.
He scored 30 a game on a 63% eFG. Keep in mine Kareem (Mr. unstoppable shot) highest eFG% was 60%. So technically Steph was more efficent than someone who is called unstoppable.0 - Posted on: Tue, 04/11/2017 - 10:03pm #1095448
thetrademachineryParticipantplease, compare westbrooks season with harden’s before comparing it to Curry’s

holefillers1ParticipantCould Curry put together his 2016 campaign on this 2017 Thunder team. I say no. He was able to not play defense gamble one the steals and shoot 40 ft shots because of the surrounding talent.
Thumder win when Westbrook scores a triple double, they pretty much lose when he doesn’t. Curry wouldn’t be the beloved two time MVP in OKC…he would be the PG that chucks up 40fters and plays no defense.
