Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantBoth of these guys are long athletic and have seemingly very similar builds and skill sets. Both have drawn the inevitable Durant comparisons. I know Porter is slightly younger and more hyped while Isaac has been under the radar a little more.
I have seen more of Porter than Isaac but haven’t really seen enough of either to draw any conclusions. So who do you guys feel is the better long-term prospect and why?

Bankroll PJParticipantIf you’re looking at long-term potential and upside, Johnathan Isaac is probably the guy, but I don’t think he’ll ever reach his ceiling or be as good as Michael Porter. Porter is the most polished scorer in HS basketball and can score on any defense thrown at him. Isaac’s best years are ahead of him, but it is rare for late bloomers to develop that elite polish as a scorer. Anthony Davis was able to do this which makes him and incredible player and prospect. I, however, don’t see anything like that happening for Isaac. He can and will probably be a good player, but Porter is an elite player that I don’t see Isaac surpassing

DukeDaSquadParticipantIm rocking with Isaac on this one. Looks to be the more natural wing player. He has a smooth jumper and nice handle. Porter is overrated as a prospect imo. Yea he has elite athleticism and size for his position, but his wing abilities just look forced to me. Ugly looking jumper, Loose handle. Also late risers like Isaac always seem to have more success in the long run. Im looking forward to seeing how he performs for FSU this year

BeastMode716Participantbut Isaac is under the radar b/c the 2017 NBA DRaft is so deep although I don;t know that 2017 will feature that one, singular, transcendant future super star like Embiid, KAT or Ben Scrizzle
I’ve learned to wait until I see these guys in college before making hasty judgements b/c we all know 1 or 2 hot prospects fall off….
I have to admit there is a lot I like about Isaac – he’s got crazy length & can shoot like Ingram but Isaac may have a bit more athleticism. I agree that I don’t see Isaac becoming a #1 option but he would be a sweet Wing for a team with an established, growing nucleus

hoopscopParticipantlHe is a prospect but right now he cant play on the highest level. Michael is a probably the next transcendent superstar on the highest level. There are not on the same plane, Michael is a sure thing because of his shooting touch and athletic ability. If he succeeds in making strides with his ballhandling he will be a top 5 player in the league.

Robb_CParticipantCalling it right now Isaac is a bust, Has Anthony Randolph written all over him..

wonzi_bellsParticipantYeah, I don’t see what’s all that special about him. An a guy who is labeled as an athlete who’s not super quick or explosive and a shooter who hasn’t had great percentage from long distance throughout his AAU and high school camp circuits. Doesn’t have the feel and toughness of Ingram if we’re comparing him to other baby Durants. He reminds me a lot of Austin Daye.
I’m not super high on Michael Porter as well but he passes the threshold with his length and polish that I can see him as a really productive NBA player. Like a better shooter Rudy Gay.

Robb_CParticipantI agree 100% with on Isaac.. and that’s a pretty fair comparison to Daye.. I wasn’t comparing Isaacs skills to Randolph..but more or less comparing the overhyped potential.. I watch Isaac and see a player who needs a lot of work Def not a one and done.
What a like a lot about Porter is he has pretty strong skill set for his age… just needs to see the weight room

VintageKobeParticipantMichael porter Jr is a can’t miss star. I wasn’t high on him before but working with Brandon Roy has helped him. His handle has improved greatly under Roy
