Chad Ford just posted his latest mock draft and first 2 round mock. He has Clev drafting Jabari at #1, but mentions 3 possible trades that have "apparenty" been offered. Which is best and who would Cleveland draft with the new pick?

Trade 1 – Clev gets Thad Young and #3 for #1

Trade 2 – Clev gets Aaron Afflalo and #4 for #1

Trade 3 – Clev gets Derrick Favors and #5 for #1

If that is all that they are being offered then they should accept none of them. I am a Sixers fan and would love for them to accept the Thad and #3 offer, but everyone knows that that is not enough.

It is a pity that the Cavs don’t have a lot of bad contracts that we could eat for them so the only trade that we could offer them at this point that makes sense is 3 and 10. That is a REALLY high price to pay, but I think that in the end that it is worth it. Don’t know if Hinkie agrees, but we will have to see.

The Sixers can use their cap space to get one or both of the Chicago picks which are 16 and 19 so losing 10 wouldn’t be as big of a deal. Or maybe we could keep 10 and the Cavs would accept 3 and 16 or 19. There will be options come Thursday.

I am now going to go back to standing on the edge of the Ben Franklin bridge panicing over Embiid’s injury for the next few days.

Lol come down off that ledge ebown its okay. I hear ya, but Wiggins is legit, and will be several times better than anyone on your current roster or at pick 10.

Only way Cleveland takes this trade is if they are set on taking Embiid because teams aren’t trading up to #1 for Embiid and the Bucks won’t take him. If that’s the case then these trade offers are fair. If they aren’t trading down with the intention of taking Embiid, then these offers aren’t nearly enough after Embiid’s injury.

I think the Jazz are giving the most attractive player back in addition to the lottery pick, but trading down past Philly at #3 would mean risking losing Embiid because if 1/2 are Parker and Wiggins the Sixers very well might select Embiid or trade down here to collect assets so someone else can take Embiid.

That’s why the Sixers offer isn’t the best offer overall, but the best they can get to safely get Embiid- if that is their strategy. Otherwise they would need to ask for significantly more

I like the way you think.

3 & 10 for 1, followed by eating contracts plus whatever for 16 and we take Payne. Noel, Wiggins, Payne, MCW.

Plus they’ll likely have most of the following, Thad, Wroten, and at least a few of the second round picks, Stokes, Daniels, etc.

Philly threatening to take Embiid at three is obviously a smokescreen

I wouldn’t say obviously. If they believe in his medicals then he is the best player available and has more upside than anyone on the Sixers roster. I wouldn’t put it past them to take him for themselves if they liked what they saw post surgery

Of the three, I think the Utah deal makes the most sense.  Do Afflolo or Young even start for them?  Sure Afflolo would be useful as the third guard and his perimeter defense would be welcome, but he’s not better than Waiters at the 2.  Young can play SF, but he’s really a tweener and overlaps with Bennett at the 3.5.

At least Favors is the clear cut starter at 4.  Plus he has sellable upside, which you need if you’re trading the top pick.

Philly has threatened to take Embiid @ 3. The fact is they haven’t said anything to tip their hand at all. Hinkie plays everything close to the vest, he has zero interest in being a media darling. I think if Cleveland really wants Embiid they should take him, because no one but Hinkie knows who he really wants.

rumors all over that parker doesnt want to play in cleveland and suspicions that he tanked his workout friday, but he also looked out of shape much like bennett did last yr. I don’t see that being too reassuring for the cavs brass.

I believe they will take wiggins not parker.wigginbs is the better longterm prospect that undeniable unless he fails to achieve his goals.

I also think if they do not take wiggins they will trade the 1st for the 3 and 10 but no less than that. if philly wants wiggins they are goin to have to sacrifice both lottery picks to get him.

The cavs could have interest in a veteran via trade but would not give up the 1st without getting a return mid lottery or better pick along with that player, and they would have to be willing to sign an extension.

Another factor imo is that I doubt parker feels to fuzzy with another stretch 4 with very simalr skills in anthony bennett on the roster and with tristan thompson hogging the starting 4 spot already.

The only trade that makes sense would be trading down to #3 if they truly were enamoured with Embiid.

All other picks just hold nowhere enough value to justify a deal. Unless they were in love with Exum (who could be gone by #3 anyway if they trade to any of the later slots), I see no reason to give up the chance to get your guy just to acquire a player on his 2nd deal, which could be acquired free of cost in any case with their FA money.

Sure, Afflalo and Thad both have some value and will likely get traded, after all both are capable contributors, but the teams looking to acquire them are already contenders and don’t have FA money to sign legit contributors from the free agent crop.

I can see them dealing 1 for 3 & 10, otherwise it’ll have to be to acquire a differnce making player. Say if Memphis was willing to break it up, perhaps a trade of #1 for Marc Gasol and a first rounder.

The dream acquisition would be KLove, but unless LeBron comes to town he will probably bolt.

Maybe they could swing the #1 & Waiters to Toronto for DeRozan and Valanciunas.

All these deals are extremely unlikely, but with the Cavs looking to quickly become a contender, and with nobody really wanting to come to Cleaveland (a disgruntled Irving not helping matters), swinging a big deal using their #1 pick may be their best chance.
