Those Sacramento teams with Bibby and Webber were REALLY good. They truly looked like the better team many games against the Kobe and Shaq Lakers.

The Cleveland teams that had Daugherty and Price where pretty good and where competitive against the Jordan Bulls. Utah-led John Stockton where also overshadowed by Jordan and the Bulls.

Those Steve Nash Phoenix Suns teams that could put up 120 points any night were really good. I always felt bad they never won a title. They’d put on a clinic offensively every night.

Gotta be the jazz from the late 80s through 2000. They were among the best in the league for so long but never could get over the hump.

The kings and nash-dantoni suns would probably be on this list as well. They had much shorter runs than the jazz though.

The present day thunder could be in danger of landing on this list as well.

How is this relevant to anything, I’ve never seen the NBA give a runner up award for the loser of the NBA finals.

Will never forget how the Sacramento Kings were robbed of a title by some corrupt refs. Definitely the greatest tragedy in sports. (that doesn’t involve anybody dying) *Sigh*

because contrary to popular belief you don’t have to win the title to be great. I thought it would be cool to talk about if you don’t like it move on. no need to be negative. anyway I still say that suns team would wish them jazz teams. barkley kj marley cebolis. beast squad

Obviously the Magic with shaq and penny, and then again those ones with Dwight Howard in the late 2000s were good. Also the mid 90s Suns, early 2000s Nets were solid too

Mid to late 90s sonics, early to mid 90s Knicks, mid to late 90s pacers, early to mid 2000 mavs (although they did later win a title but with a much different group of players) all deserve mention in this category as well imo.

The Shawn Kemp era Sonics and the Stockton/Malone Jazz stand out for me. Nash era Suns were probably best team to never make NBA Finals.

w/ talent……. & that Orlando team was also the ONLY team……… to Ever Knock Out a Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls team in the Playoffs……… After the Bulls won their First Championship in 1991……

All the other answers were Great……. Utah 93-94′ to 97-98’…… Phoenix 2004/2005′ & 2005/06’……. Sacramento 2001-02’…….. Seattle Super Sonics  1995-96’………. Charles Barkley & Kevin Johnson’s 1992-93′ Phoenix Suns was another Great team turned away by the Bulls…..

But that Shaq & Penny Orlando Magic team was So good ……. & So Absolutely Loaded….. & So Close to winning a Title…….. & they were SO Young at EVERY position!!!………. This Orlando Magic franchise LOOKED like the Next 1980’s & 90’s NBA Dynasty…….

The Celtics of Bird, McHale, Parrish, Johnson……. the Sixers of Dr. J, Moses, Bobby Jones, Cheeks & Andrew "the Boston Strangler" Toney……… The Lakers of Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Cooper……..  The Pistons of Isiah, Lambier, Dumars. Aguirre, Salley, Rodman…….. The Bulls of Jordan, Pippen, Grant, Kukoc, Rodman……. It FELT like Orlando was next…………. But it was Never meant to be…………….

The Jazz with their two hall of famors, they were better than people think, they couldn’t get past a guy name Jordan. If it weren’t for Jordan they would have two championships.

They had a few teams that could have won it all

The team with Rasheed really had the talent and depth to have gotten over that hump eventually, too bad they couldn’t keep them all together

Sheed did get his ring with the Pistons though

A couple of teams that aren’t necessarily the best but were pretty damn good.

    – The Blazers from 1990 to 1992. Won an average of 60 games per season over that three year span. Clyde Drexler was the only elite player on the team but they had some good pieces around him in PG Terry Porter, PF Buck Williams, SF Jerome Kersey, C Kevin Duckworth and Cliff Robinson who was the best 6th man in the league at the time.

Going old school the 1964 Cincinnati Royals were also pretty loaded. Three Hall of Famers in the prime of their careers (Big O, Jerry Lucas and Jack Twyman) and another player, the often forgotten bruising center Wayne Embry making his fourth straight All-Star team. They won 55 games in the regular season but couldn’t get by the Dynasty Celtics in the Eastern Conference playoffs. It’s a bit of a surprise that they had no other 50+ win seasons with that core.

My mistake, I just double checked and Robinson was just coming into the league at the time. While he was still the first player off the Blazers bench he wasn’t the best 6th man in the league till 1993-1996. Danny Ainge was also coming off the bench in ’91 and ’92 to provide a spark for the backcourt.

94 Knicks- Arguably the greatest Defense of all-time, and Jordan use to man handle it.

Penny and Shaq Magic Teams- Houston was just experienced enough to beat em, and Jordan came out of retirement.

now that I think about MJ put the No No on a few great teams trying to win rings..

& the Knicks & Pacers in the early  to mid 90’s when Pat Riley came on the scene & ran the Knicks were Incredible……

And then when Riley took over Miami…… And Jeff Van Gundy took over the Knicks…… & Those two teams would just Battlle every year in the Playoffs……. & it was So Intense! & So Emotional to watch…….

The NBA made So many Rule Changes to open up the game…… The Hand Check taken out in 1994……. Then they took away the Defender’s ability to use his forearm in the post…… Then in 1997, the League took away moving a man WithOut the ball & that opened up the ability for players w/o the ball to run off multiple Ball Screens……

That’s a Great call Robb C…… B/c even though that 94′ Knicks team came up just a tiny bit short of a Ring…… They are probably the Single most responsible team for the Rules changes that evolved the NBA from a strictly Isolation game to free flowing Outside / Inside game we see today………
