R-Dot-13ParticipantR-Dot position topic #3, Who is the best SG in the East?
Eastern Conference SG are not as deep as the PG position.1. Dwayne Wade
Ok, this is a no brainer to me, and everyone else.
A top 3 player in the NBA, and is one of the clutchest. One of the most athletic players in the NBA. Lead the NBA in scoring last year, and basically singlehandedly took his team to the playoffs, not only a scorer, he is a great passer and defender. I really dont need to say much to help is case, because this should be a unanimous decision.2. Joe Johnson
I feel that the only one that could even have a case for #1 other than Wade is JJ. A great scorer, one of the most talented offensive players in the game. Good passer, shooter, playmaker and scorer. Will average atleast 20 ppg every year. Atlanta will likely make the playoffs again this year, and JJ will be the reason for it. At 6’7, he still has the versitality to run the point on occasions, which makes him a matchup nightmare for most defenders. I dont see anybody other than Johnson to put here.3. Vince Carter
Still a great player after everything. Still athletic, still a great shooter, and still incredibly clutch. Big upgrade for the magic over Hedo IMO. The addition of Carter makes hte Magic one of the best starting 5’s in the NBA. This could be a 4 all star team, and they will contend for a title yet again. Look for Carters number to drop just a little but, but i still expect around 20 points from him.4. Ben Gordon
Touch choice, very tough. But even at such a young age, he is one of the best scorers at this position. He is also insanely clutch, he is a great shooter, and seems to hit every shot when it means something. Now that he’s a piston, the pistons just got so much better, he is 26, so he isnt in his prime yet, so he can still get better, so when Vince starts to slow down, he may move up. But for now, i feel like he is good at #4.5. Ray Allen
Who to choose.. Who to choose..?
Allen? Hamilton? Redd? or even Nate Robinson?
Well, even though he is aging, clearly he can still play. Ray Allen will always be one of the best shooters of all time, and will still help the Celtics out this year. Even at his age, he can explode for 50 points any time. A career 20 ppg scorer, and should still get you that every year because of his sharpshooting.Dont freak out because I consider Iguodala a SF.

BasketballGuru24ParticipantI think Allen should be 4 he accomplished way too much and his debatably the best shooter of all-time…….Ben Gordon is honestly getting too much love from this years playoffs

JNixonParticipantAndre Iguodala is a shooting guard. I promise you he is.

cashmherecfParticipantI agree with you but ben gordon has to be third. He has proved that he can fill it up against anybody and just as clutch as anyone on this list except for wade and allen. Although he still is streaky the off ball screens famous for rip in detroit will give the guy many open shots

R-Dot-13ParticipantI feel like the Eastern SG arent too deep, yeah its debatable to switch Gordon and Allen around, but Gordon has a great ability to score, plus he is much younger, so I gave him the nod, Allen has a case though.

R-Dot-13ParticipantI know Iguodala is known as a shooting guard by most, but im concidering him a SF for my rankings so i dont get hate for leaving people out .

RickyRubio9ParticipantI don’t think I have anything to argue on it.
It looks good. Nice man. Maybe Allen ahead of Gordon, he is consistent and doesn’t shoot a horrible percentage on some nights. He takes smart shots, but he is only a shooter and he hardly drives. Although he does disappear at times which hurts his team, but Ben Gordon usually can only help his team by showing up or not it doens’t really matter.0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/20/2009 - 4:10pm #203771
unaznizedParticipantbut the only thing i would change is ray allen at number 4. he’s still one of the best shooters in the league. if ben gordon gets the pistons into a playoffs, then maybe i’d take him over allen. but like what basketballguru said, he is getting too much love from that playoff series, and that’s one of the reasons the pistons signed him to that bog contract. it’s even debatable whether he’s the best SG in his team.
and when michael redd is healthy, he’s definitely on the top 5 SGs in the east. hope he gets healthy and bounces back this year.

R-Dot-13ParticipantYeah i left Redd off because he needs to prove that he can stay healthy for the season.

RickyRubio9ParticipantIf Redd is healthy he definetly is one of the Top SG’s above Gordon, Allen, and Rip easily.
Gordon may not get all his stats with Rip and him sharing the spot.0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/20/2009 - 4:14pm #203776

Bryant24ParticipantGood list i agree with it u could switch gordon with allen
0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/20/2009 - 4:15pm #203778

R-Dot-13ParticipantYeah I hard a hard time deciding who to put at 4 between Gordon and Allen, but i gave it to the youth.

festar35ParticipantJust wondering if you class Nate Robinson as a SG? cause he had a pretty stellar season.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/20/2009 - 6:01pm #203865

R-Dot-13ParticipantYes i do, and i was actually concidering him, but he is not a top 5 sg yet, maybe in a couple years, i really like him.

NYK2010ParticipantThe West has Kobe, Roy, Ginobli, Eric Gordon, OJ Mayo, Kmartin and the 10 on the Warriors none are great
East has Wade, Joe Johnson, Rip, Gordon, Allen, Carter, Redd, Iguodala, Crawford
Redd is definetly not better than Rip, Redd plays very lil D.
