gbhat002ParticipantCompleting the following moves would allow the Lakers to contend NEXT season:
Lakers Trade – 2 Pick, 27 Pick, 34 Pick, Julius Randle, Tarik Black
Kings Trade – DeMarcus Cousins, 6 Pick, Jason Thompson
Lakers then draft Winslow with the 6 pick and sign Kevin Love in Free Agency
Lakers Starting Five – Clarkson/Bryant/Winslow/Love/Cousins
Thoughts? Additional teams that can be brought into the trade to make it possible?

jtthebrick14ParticipantYou Lakers fans have got to get it through your heads that things have changed. Another star isn’t going to walk in the door every other year. You have to have an in-his-prime star to lure other stars in free agency. You were lucky that you always had one for the 3 full decades, but that ended 2 years ago and look what happened.
The CBA is different. Your front office is different. The NBA is different, and the Lakers have to adapt. You’re one of us now. It’s a more level playing field. You’re going to have to strip down and rebuild like the rest of us and there is no quick fix.
Kevin Love isn’t even a free agent, and last I heard it was expected that he’d opt in. Even if he opts out, why would he sign with 37 year old team killer Kobe and the most dysfunctional guy in the NBA in Cousins?
A core of Kobe, Cousins, and Love may not even make the playoffs in the West anyway. All of them are overrated big names at this point. You may scoff, but the West will be at least 11 deep next year.

cg085hParticipantlogged in just to neg you lmfao.
thats an horbile idea.
best case scenario is the 3way trade
Lakers receive Cousins and #6 pick (Mario Hezonja)
Orlando receives #2 (Okafor) Orlando just drafted Gordon and they still have Frye aslo this gives them cap to resign Harris if need be
Sac receives Vucevic…#5 ( porzingis)
Lakers starting 5 Lakers have 30mil cap this year cousins takes 14 mil 16mil left we can go out and try and get a sf/ Jimmy Butler/Kris Middleton/Tobias Harris if not. we can add pieces to this line up. (i Think Mario will be a better pro than Winslow)
Clarkson
Kobe
Mario
Randle
Cousins

BleedGreen808ParticipantI don’t see how that’s a fair trade either. The Lakers turn the 2nd pick into an All Star in Cousins AND the 6th pick without throwing in Clarkson or Randle? Then Kings don’t even get the 2nd pick out of the trade. Instead they get Vucevic and the 5th pick. Orlando comes out of the trade with the 2nd pick for Vucevic and the 5th pick. I just can’t see Sac accepting that trade without getting the Lakers pick out of the deal.

MopgrassParticipantI think this is what they’re trying to do: trade #2 and Julius Randle (as much as I don’t like the idea) and get back Cousins and number 6 (somehow). Supposedly, as mentioned by someone on here some source tweeted that they’d draft Myles Turner. They are trying to develop a young team and Cousins has always complained about not having enough rim protection help. Turner would do the trick there and spread the floor, so Cousins could stick closer to the rim. At least that’s what I gather they’re aiming at. I’ll be impressed if they pull it off.
I also here Jimmy Butler is the guy they’d most like to sign (on a one year deal). I have no idea if they could make that happen, but it sounds like they’re trying to stay young and that’s a smart way to go.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantIt is OK Lakers fans. The real world can be a scary place. It is sometimes easier to live in a Fantasy.
