My friend and I have been arguing for years about this guys value… Sorry to post another thread about him, but…

I just want to see other basketball mind’s opinions on the guy. If we was so good I think Boston would be better than they are today, doesn’t matter because he’s traded. It’s the East.. The guy had fallen off defensively, never improved his shot, and played more for stats than wins.

If Harden was on any of those Boston teams I say they’re in the playoffs the past three years, or Russell Westbrook if you want PG’s, or any other top PG for that matter ala Parker, Rose, Paul, and Wall. I think I’d value Conley, Irving, and Dragic more than Rondo at this point although that’s pushing it.

Opinions on him, is he a Top 3 PG, Top 5 PG, or Top 10? Are people living off his past playoff performances when we thought he’d take the next step, but clearly hasn’t…

What’s the expectations in Dallas stat-wise and team-wise? I say Top 3 seed should be their expectations and WCF or bust. They’re clearly throwing all their marbles in for this guy as he’s a UFA after the season and I don’t think it’ll work money wise for them.

Feel free to post paragraphs about this guy and yeah I know other threads have been created about him, but I just want to link my friend to this one.

btw great to be back on this site, been too long since I wrote anything.

I’m expecting Rondo to average about 8 ppg and about 10-11 apg in Dallas. He really is one of the few true, pass-first point guards in the league and will be surrounded by scorers now. Even though he probably isn’t as good overall as some of those guys you mentioned, his style of play seems perfect for this Mavs team. He won’t be asked to do much more than distribute the ball and play good D, which are probably his two biggest strengths as a player.

Dirk, Parsons and Ellis like to shoot a lot.  So Rondo is a very good fit, he likes to pass.

Rondo only works for a team with lots of scoring, and when the Celtics won he was passing to three 20-point scorers with Pierce, Garnett, Allen.

The Celtics now, not enough star scorers for Rondo to really get them winning as he couldn’t take games over with his scoring.

I’m absolutely excited about this move by the Mavs and I have no doubt, that there is a really good chance Rondo stays there and this whole thing works out. Only questionmark is Monta and Rondo offensively but why shouldn’t this work too?

In the long run an awesome move for the Mavs going forward with Monta and Chandler in their prime, Parsons entering his prime and Dirk beeing himself for 2 or 3 more years. I honestly think Ray Allen should give the Mavs a looong look now to become what Vince was when he was in Dallas. Only problem I see is rim protection off the bench.

The Mavs have been keeping a close on eye on Emeka Okafor as he recovers, I expect them to make a run at him when he is ready to return

He will be a great distributor with all that talent around him BUT…..in the press coference Cuban stressed his defense….while stats for steals are good, his man to man the last few years has been awful….does not deny penetration…..matador….makes players like Teague look all pro

He avgs 16 assists per 48 mins…insane. Rondo is a great fit anywhere he plays. Dallas doesnt have a deep bench…they arent going anywhere with that group.
