asmartin626ParticipantI was thinking about the 6ers and how I don’t see Ben Simmons being a great fit there with their cluster of bigs, and I do project him more as a 4 than a 3. Same goes with the Lakers, I don’t see him as a great fit. And that got me thinking…
Now granted, I know they technically have had the last 3 #1’s, but I see the T-Wolves as the best place for him. Simmons can play the 4 beside Towns, get rid of Rubio and have Simmons being the primary ball handler without being a pg. then with Wiggins on the wing, you could put Lavine at point since he wouldn’t have to set the offense. Go after another 2/3 (since I believe Wiggins could play both) and say…offer big money to Harrison Barmes. I could see a productive starting 5 of
PG- Zach Lavine
SG- Andrew Wiggins
SF- Harrison Barnes
PF- Ben Simmons
C- KAT
just a personal opinions, I see the Wolves as the best spot for him currently.

Jr. ROXASParticipantMan, I don;t know. Everytime I see Simmons play, he ssems like the player who isn’t content in just giving the ball up without getting an assist. I’m pretty sure he won’t be content dumping the ball down into the post to Wiggins or Towns, or havng them isolate defenders. He wants the ball in his hands and with that lineup, he’s not gettig it.
I see his best fit is with the Celtics or Suns. The Suns just need an identity, and with Simmons, they have their franchise player who is going to have the ball in his hands from day one. The Celtics can be a good fit for him since they have a hole at that PF spot, and he can play Amir’s role with 5x effectiveness.

MopgrassParticipantI agree, the Wolves and Lakers have to many isolation players (you forgot how much LaVine like the ball in his hands. It might be the best move for the Wolves, but not for Simmons. Sixers are too full on big guys and they don’t have shooters. Suns wouldn’t be too bad since he’ll be able to kick out to Booker. New Orleans might be good for him if they can shake Tyreke (just cause he needs the ball so much). Really, they’d have AD and Simmons: and that’s a heck of a starting place.

XavierAllTheWayParticipantHis best fit will be with philly, assuming okafor will be traded.
Center—embiid/noel
Pf— simmons
Sf—Ingram ? (Brooklyn pick from Celtics)
Pg—Dunn ? (Brooklyn pick from Celtics)
Depending on where Brooklyn picks land, philly can either take Ingram or dunn

asmartin626Participantthats also depending on whether Embid ever plays and lives up to potential. I liked him coming out, but right now I’d take Towns over him and Wiggins/Lavine over Ingram/Dunn. You already know what they bring, it’s a guessing game with the sixers

XavierAllTheWayParticipantI almost forgot about Philly’s own pick. So if they do trade okafor to Celtics as some speculated, Philly might actually end up with both Simmons and Ingram if they get real lucky

HitsterParticipantAs a Phoenix fan, I’d obviously like him and he’d fit in well for us now we have moved Morris. Otherwise I like Boston as a destination for him, they have good young players but no superstar yet which he’d fill the void for.
Lakers would also be a nice fit for him, not so keen on T-Wolves they already have a load of stars, Philly are trying to tank too hard IMO.
As a real neutral, Denver would be a fair place for him to end up and he’d have a decent supporting cast already in place.

mercyman25ParticipantCan you imagine Simmons and Booker playing together? Teletovic, Len and Chandler would benefit from a guy that likes to get assists. TJ Warren with his sneaky backdoor cuts. The Suns desperately need a playmaker. If the Suns don’t get the 1 or 2 pick they should trade their own pick and the Washington pick that looks like a lower lottery to move up if anyone is interested in the top 2 spots.

HitsterParticipantI’d figure that Phoenix would use Simmons as a SF possibly moving Tucker to the bench if they want to play Len and Chandler as a frontcourt duo. Simmons could also play some PF. Simmons would give Bledsoe scoring support also.
I think that Phoenix just needs a star player like Simmons to help them move forward.

TravelinTravParticipantAs much as I would love the Wolves to land Simmons he just isn’t the best fit, the Wolves needs a shooter not another pass 1st can’t shoot player, Rubio is already the king of terrible shooting, not saying Simmons wouldn’t work on the current roster.
I think the Suns would be the best fit, if they get a potential star in Simmons they could be a legit team in a year or 2.

BKGingerSnapParticipantAs a celtics fan I dream of a Smart, Bradley, Crowder, Simmons, Olynyk starting five
If the C’s don’t get it, I want to see Minnesota get Simmons and have the craziest collection of young talent since OKC in 2011 (Durant, Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka, R. Jackson)

Roxwell HoopParticipantI think if you get Simmons, any player on your roster becomes an asset. As the sixers, I’d happily give up anyone not named Jahlil, and build around those two. Embiid will be harder to get value for, but the league has seen Noel. Sixers are my pick, and I hope they get him.

pokieParticipantThe Lakers with Russell, Clarkson, and Randle would be a good fit. They’re all young and can score. Simmons wouldn’t have to carry the load there and could come in and distribute the basketball and get them into transition more often.
I would not want to see him in Minnesota because that would just be frightning for the rest of the league.
I think Simmons is a little behind where Boston is right now. They need another Garnett/Allen type situation moving forward. I think that’s why Ainge leaked the whole Nets pick story. He needs a couple of All Stars to blend with his current roster.

darko4prezParticipantSimmons to Wolves. Wiggins + Dieng to Celtics for Crowder + BRK pick (Dunn) . Deal Rubio to Philly for Covington + Miami pick(Valentine or Levert)
interchangeable 1-4
Lavine / Dunn / Jones
Crowder / Lavine
Covington / Valentine / Shabaz
Simmons / Bjelica
Towns / Pek
76ers have Rubio – Jaylen Brown – Ingram – Noel – Okafor
Lakers get screwed.

Memphis MadnessParticipantLakers.
Great franchise. They have some nice young players and they are usually able to attract top notch free agents. Then I can also see them upgrading their head coaching position.
Ok, so Julius Randle is a 4? Play Simmons at the 3. Then let one of those two shoot jumpers on the perimeter to help improve spacing.
You can also go SMALL BALL with Randle at the 4 and BS at the 5.
If they get Luke Walton as their next coach, and load up on some mid-tier free agents they can go out and sign Harrison Barnes, Mike Conley, and Festus Ezeli. I think the 2 Warriors would be more likely to sign on if Luke Walton is leading the team.
Then you can do a lot of things with Ben Simmons. Put him at the 4 probably with Randle off the bench. You have some shooters out there along with multiple ball handlers.
I think Conley, Russell, Barnes, Simmons, and Ezeli would be a really interesting starting five. Then they still have Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, and Larry Nance, Jr. off the bench.
Then depending on how well Conley holds up, and how fast the young guys improve and how much upside they have, I can see them getting to the Finals (at least) in 2 or 3 years.
With this lineup and rotation, they might actually be better off with Simmons posting up either on the low block or somewhere at the high post. Baseline alley-oops would help, too. You would have a bunch of shooters and passers/ball handlers out there, and Simmons could use his great combination of size and athleticism to work around the basket.
They can even go with super big lineups of Ben at the 1, Russell at the 2, then Barnes, Randle, and Ezeli.
Ben Simmons doesn’t have a true position. He needs to go to a team with a bunch of shooters and ball handlers/passers who also are young, athletic, and long.
