So me and FireKahn talked about the Clippers-Minnesota trade that sent Cassel and their pick this year to LA for Jaric (God that trade is horrible when I write it down) and it got me thinking. If Minnesota sucked again and got the #1 pick and that went to LA and they chose Drummond would Griffin and him be the best front line in all of basketball? And dare I say it be in the discussion to be the best all-time after Drummonds first season?

I was thinking about the best frontlines of all time and a few came to mind:

David Robinson and Tim Duncan (Spurs) – The Twin Towers, Robinson was very athletic and a great defender and Tim was a young, fundamental guru. Both complimented each other very well.

Divac and C-Webb (Kings) – In their primes they were one of the best all time. Both were two of the best passing big men of all time. Like the Twin Towers, complimented each other very well.

Do you guys think if by some miracle those stars aligned and Drummond went to the Clippers they would be the best frontline in basketball? And (cause I really couldn’t think of any) what are some of the best front lines of all-time and how would they match up with those two?

Only frontline that I thought of that could compete today would be Gasol/Randolph, Bynum/Gasol and Noah/Boozer but I dont think even they would compete with those two freaks. What do you guys think?

Elvin Hayes and Wes Unseld were a great combo as well. Playing together in Washington for 9 years they complimented each other very well. Hayes was the dynamic scorer who used his length and athleticism to give guys fits at the PF position, Unseld was an undersized but rugged center, a dominant rebounder and terrific outlet passer who did all the little things that don’t show up in the stat sheets.

For 4 seasons the front court also had Bob Dandridge, possibly the most underrated player of the 70s, at small forward. During the 1978 championship season, these were their numbers:

    C Wes Unseld: 7.6 PPG, 11.9 RPG, 4.1 APG

PF Elvin Hayes: 19.7 PPG, 13.3 RPG, 2 BPG

SF Bob Dandridge: 19.3 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 3.8 APG

And their 6th man PF/C (and current Lakers GM) Mitch Kupchak averaged 15.9 PPG and 6.9 RPG in 26.3 MPG.

     84-85 76ers:     SF: Dr. J

                             PF: Charles Barkley

                             C: Moses Malone

None of these players were even in their primes and this was still a great frontcourt. Would be scary to think how good this team would be if they were in their primes, as all three are easily among the 25 greatest players of all time.

Dream and Ralph Sampson. They’d give Timay and Admiral a run for their money for top 2 players, but Chief, McHale, Bird wins for top 3 frontcourt players on one team of all-time.

How about in 2000-01 when Portland had Scottie Pippen,Shawn Kemp,Rasheed Wallace,Sabonis,Detlef Schrempf and Dale Davis on the team? 5 all stars and 2 Hall of Famers…

Boston’s Big 3 of Bird, Parish and McHale was the best during my lifetime….

Dallas current Frontline of Dirk,Caron Butler, Marion, Chandler and Peja might be old..But they did lead their team to a Title…

Sampson and Olajuwon were fun to watch..

Memphis frontline of Rudy Gay,Zack Randolph and Marc Gasol would be even more dominant if they had a more creative playmaker…
